Chapter 648 - Chapter 648: Small Talk

"So what exactly are we gonna find in that lil' race?" Solomon asked, rubbing against his head and shoulders after being shoved away and watching the two be close by at the front, sticking with Adel at the middle to try and learn some more, watching Fenrir hang back to save as much energy as possible, focused on himself for the moment. He knew Stolas would be more than willing, considering his fascination, but he was shocked to see that Applin would have similar interests. He'd let Shady try to sneak over to hear their conversation, if any. He'd rather not be in the way again after such force they dropped. Adel would meanwhile snicker a bit at seeing his cautious movements before answering his question.

"Apparently, its something to do with the Sun and Moon. The weird faces they make? We thought it was some bizarre phenomena that was left up there by the natural world itself, what with our magic and whatnot ever expanding. I learned this a bit during my small lessons while at the hospital, but apparently that's plain wrong. There's markings on them! Whole Markings, like if someone was writing a message in the sand!" He'd confess, his excitement already brimming. Solomon blinked upon hearing this, looking up to see the smiling sun that stared down at the world.

"...THAT!? THAT WAS MADE BY SOMEONE!?"

"Yeah! This sparked SO MANY THEORIES as to who it may have been. Could be someone that used that style of magic to make those faces. Could be some sort of consequence after that whole 'Apocalypse' thing I've heard so much about. Could even be that they were also planets before shifting into whatever they became just now! That one's MY favorite!"

"That sounds ridiculous. The Sun's a whole STAR! How is anyone supposed to live on that?"

"Ahh, but that's the best part! They say that there are two figures that reside there. A Man on the Moon, and a Man on the Sun. They are what remained of the civilization they once had in those worlds up until the shift occurred. They most likely were the ones to develop Soul Magic by accident, due to loving their home so much, they choose to be one with it until it inevitably departs and disappears." Adel would let his claws scrape at the ground, digging around it, showing the two figures that stood atop the smiling Sun and the sorrowful Moon. Alas, they were merely scrabbles before anyone else, no proper faces to depict, and their anatomy looks too block-y for a proper person. "If my hunch is right, they might have some knowledge to help out your friend's conditions! Maybe even house a cure for them so they can get back up and fight for another day! We'd probably have to fight them for it though, as I'd imagine they won't give it to us so willi-"

"So that's your reason to come over? To fight these guys and steal their stuff?"

"N-NO! NO, NO, NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! C'MON, I'M NOT THAT PREDICTABLE!" Adel's fluster would be met by a raised eyebrow, already aware of suspicions. "...Ok so MAYBE that, BUT! I want to actually prove myself here, too. I want to show that I can do it. That I can pull my weight with you guys as much as I can. Let me have this one chance, please! If I fail, you have full reign to kill me if ne-"

"Alright, Alright! I'll consider it. Just... don't straight up try to box them. I'm sure they are more than willing to talk it out. Maybe even let us learn about those changes, while we're at it."

"AYE! THERE'S THE SPIRIT!" A firm pat on his back as he'd let him get his bearings back. As soon as they agreed, sounds began to come out from the Shadow, letting the two eavesdrop in, with Solomon's curiosity infecting Adel's.

"You saw the whole UNIVERSE? Really??" Applin shouted, excited at such a discovery. She was carrying over her Hammer as she looks around at her sides, allowing her to keep an eye out for any intruders to the four.

"Mhm! Granted, it's a whole Mirror World thing, but I say it still counts! It was also where I was helping this Doppelganger lady about the World of Man! Where happiness is king, dreams you dream come true, that kind of stuff! We went through so much in that big sea of stars. To have a chance to experience heit again is something I'm not passing up!" Stolas replied with such pride and vigor, as if he achieved total victory over life. "So what's your desire, anyway? Your own dream?"

"Oh, easy! Harvard!"

"Hardy har har. C'mon now."

"IT ISSSSS!!!" Applin swatted her arms to the Avian in such protest, before catching her breath and speaking properly. "Seriously, though... I think I just want my family to be back together again. Finding Papa is a miracle in it of itself, and no doubt Mama is gonna be ecstatic about it, even if he's ah... well a dog. Ever since that day in the hospital, I was at my absolute lowest. I really thought I was going to die there. Harvard became my light when he visited and gave me that gift. Since then, I met you guys, and inadvertedly, got my life back. I want to repay the favor back. I want to make sure they're okay. I'm in debt to you guys, and this is where I'm gonna pay it all in full. To have my family back together safe and sound, that's my real wish for now."

Stolas would give a warm smile and a pat on the little Vampire's shoulder, a strong nod to affirm her wishes. "Same here. I lost my dad a while back to a monster. That man... he made me be the person I am today. I miss him so much, but even I know that I can't go back on his word. To keep going. To keep living. Once I take down my Pop's murderer, that's when my debt is done, too. We really got a lot of families here we wanna make proud of, huh?" He'd joke, to which Applin would do a small giggle.

"Yeah! I guess so. Do you guys also have family stuff?"

"Well if you count a living shadow for a Dad, yeah! Most of us has one!"

"Wait HUH?! Who's the kid to that one?? I never knew you guys were-" Her words were cut as she looked down and noticed the shadow, watching Shady panic and trail back down, quickly hiding behind the two, as they tried to play innocent. "...You sneaky jerks!" Her cheeks puffed up as she would carry her hammer overhead and tried to swing at them, causing them to run away from the Vampiress, with Stolas laughing away and following ahead, cheering her on to get such revenge for snooping in their conversation, as well as her Father taking notice, tilting his head in confusion to what he just missed, before seeing their destination ahead.
