Chapter 650 - Chapter 650: Attention!

Immediately they ran for their respective base, their eyes darting around to whatever they needed to construct either their ship or their respective operations to add on. Adel and Fenrir struggled to keep up with them, watching their wild energy go all over the place. "Seriously!? Just a dumb cash prize is enough to convince them fully?? What happened to the whole 'Redemption' part of me, eh? What about Harvard and Zazel??" He'd question, attempting to peer into their humanity, but they simply ignored him.

"I believe they already knew that ahead of time. The hospital bills are probably going to be expensive by the time they come back to their senses. I'd imagine they'd also be gunning for anything exotic that could be used to trade for currency." Fenrir added, stunting Adel a bit.

"Since when can you talk??"

"...Did you not knew this? Weren't you right there with us when-"

"I was busy with something else, aight!? Cut me some slack! I don't pay attention to these things!"

"Right... was that why you ditched us?"

"HEY! None of that now!" Adel poked at the dog's forehead to showcase his disapproval, before looking back and nearly stumbling on himself when he saw how quick the children were moving, watching them bicker at what could be their symbol and team name. As they argued, the two immediately hear over noise nearby them, two sources that came from across and next to them. Team Sky and Team Ballista. The two would follow the sounds that lead towards Ballista, using the shrubbery to hide themselves and sneak a quick peek over at their progress. What they were met with was dozens of soldiers that were setting up their own ship just as much as the children were, if not more, with extreme efficiency. Each soldier had a metal plate over their faces, adorned like a mask as they chanted away their usual sound offs.

The ship, however, was the one that caught their attention the most. It towered over the massive trees, measuring by the distance to be almost an eighth of what the Morningstar's blade was. It was designed with some efficiency, with the slender build to let them pierce through the atmosphere, but it also housed a whole hand at the top, large enough and pointing with one finger to act as the tip. Why would they make such a bizarre shape for the ship in the first place, the two thought to themselves. They'd sit back and watch as two more people walk in to examine the progress of the ship, a man in militaristic clothes with the same metallic plating, almost looking more robotic than human. "All systems are a go! 95% Completion, hulls are sturdied up, food supplies for the journey, and enough fuel to make us capable of polluting space itself if it had any semblance of air!" The man shouted, his voice being just as metallic as his features, a living record player that scratches at every syllable.

"At ease then, soldier. At ease." Another figure came in, one with a familiar voice. Draped in white robes, he keeps his body hidden, making it hard for Adel and Fenrir to discern who it could be. "Once we organized the structure and set up its grip function, we should be able to operate safely. You remember our mission, correct?"

"Yes sir! Find the Man on the Moon or the Man on the Sun and let them try to co-exist within our planet, Sir! Extraterrestrial life brought over to fund further research on Monsters and your enhancements, Sir!"

"Very good. We can also gather some materials on the planets and moons nearby to act as resources for that enhancement. Perhaps then, I could live up to my name proper as the newly acquainted 3rd member of the Sons of Man..."

"Were you mumbling again, Sir?"

"D'ah... apologies. Have you also recounted our team towards Galileo? Where just us is more than enough?"

The sergeant was quick on snapping his fingers and stomping down, his voice booming over to the group that accompanied him. "ARMY MAGIC! ASSEMBLE!!" He'd declare, as all the soldiers stopped dead in their tracks, standing up and saluting in unison, a one-track mind between the entire group. Adel's eyes widened upon seeing such cooperation, before quickly noting his words and thinking this must be some sort of extent to his power. Sure enough, he'd see that answer directly on the metal masks themselves. Each one possessed a specific weapon tasked to them, a toy soldier that had a specific position to follow. Rather than using the actual toys and let them wander around, this general chose to make them real people, or as close to real as one could get. They got enough information, he'd let Fenrir follow along as they try to leave, before hearing another command. "TAKE AIM TO THE RIGHT! WE GOT INTRUDERS HERE!!" Such a shout made their blood run cold, with Fenrir quickly opening his maw as soon as he hears the gun cock back, following orders as precise as one can.

"AIM!"

"AND!"

"FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE!!!!!!!"

BANG! BANG! BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG!!!

An onslaught of bullets, showered by them as they get pushed back, dragged across the ground and injured as a result. As the bullets cut through, Fenrir would be quick to notice that most of such bullets barely grazed his skin. Conversely, he looked sickly, as if something was building up underneath the tissue. Adel merely smiled as he knew what it was, though such smile did turn to a grunt as he recognized he must've replaced to much of himself with that material: Carbon. He could see the flakes come off, the broken mineral dribbling down, holding his injuries as he lets the Chainbreaker pick him up and carry him away to the children, in the hopes he doesn't accidentally leave a trail for them to follow. He could hear the heavy stomps of troops rushing in.

They were following him.
