[Some days Later]
Eijiro bounced in his seat as the palace came into view, his tiny feet kicking the air excitedly. I could see the same longing in his eyes that I felt in my heart.
I giggled. "You were so excited to see the outside world, now you're itching to come home?"
He pouted. "I miss Daddy! And Kina!"
I ruffled his hair. "Me too, cub. Me too."
I couldn't wait to hold my husband again, to feel his strong arms around me, to kiss his lips.
The wagon stopped at the palace gates, where a group of soldiers awaited us. They saluted as we stepped out.
"Welcome back, Grand Duchess," one of them said, his voice respectful.
I nodded. "Thank you. Where is the Grand Duke?"
"He's in the training grounds, like usual."
I smiled. Of course he was. He never stopped training, even when he had no one to fight. I supposed it was his way of coping with the stress and boredom of peacetime. Although, this peace was only temporary. War would return soon.
