Freedom and permissiveness turned his head: now he had access to something that many could not do - he decided to misbehave a little and tease Neylira.
He easily discovered her presence in one of the shops of fine art on the lower floors of Illuria and allowed himself a prank - to land in the middle of a busy street, raising the wind with his wings, in front of the entrance to the shop. People scared away from him, looking at his unreal beauty in amazement, animatedly whispering among themselves what the celestial being needed from mere mortals.
Adivaris looked arrogantly at the gathered crowd, his eyes sparkling with turquoise, and hurriedly entered the twilight of the spacious store.
Everyone began to worry loudly about the owner Tain.
The young man was stunned when he saw the winged guest, who immediately began to stare at him.
"Tain?" The syrinx asked menacingly, swaggering along the rows of shelves and looking at the goods on the racks.
"Why do you need these statues if you hate my race? Better burn them and don't raise your eyes to the sky so as not to watch us. Why do you live here, under our feet? You want freedom, you should have left our cities long ago. Why tempt us with your girls? We would hide them away from our eyes."
"Who are you?" Stunned guy frowned.
"Haven't guessed yet?"
Having opened the door of the back room, Neylira came forward and spoke rudely:
"What do you want, sensualist, you just can't forget me?"
"It's he?" Tain cried out and hugged her tightly. "Why on earth did you come here? Get out! I won't give her to you!"
"I don't need her anymore," Adivaris said mockingly. "I just came to see who she traded me for."
"None of you are allowed to be around people, are you?" Angry Tain argued.
"You can't, of course, but I can afford it. I have long wanted to marvel at your way of life. Well, what can I say? Very ordinary and unpretentious. You make full use of our cultural objects."
He looked piercingly at Neylira.
"Don't you notice anything strange about yourself?"
Her eyes flickered to Tain in fear.
"You are mutating into a syrinx. Is your back itching? How are you going to live here in the future? Among people. They will not appreciate the appearance of a winged..."
"What is he talking about?" The store owner got worried.
"He's lying," Neylira muttered through her teeth.
Adivaris laughed contentedly:
"Well, then I'll come by later, when you're ready..."
Syrinx resolutely headed towards the exit, and the girl suddenly broke away from her husband's arms and ran after him.
"Wait!"
"Neylira, where are you going?" Tain shouted desperately, rushing after her.
Adivaris looked back triumphantly at the owner of the store and, grabbing the girl by the hand, instantly disappeared with her.
