Even just before leaving today, she didn't even know whether to let him know about his "death."
"Lucas." Annie Taylor held him on her lap and used tissue paper to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
"Hmm?"
"Do you... want to know... want to have a daddy?" She finally couldn't help but ask, but didn't know what to do if he answered yes.
"No!"
Bin Taylor answered decisively, which stunned Annie Taylor, as if she hadn't expected his answer. She reflexively asked again, "Why?"
"Because I don't want another annoying person to compete with me for Miss Taylor." The little boy opened his mouth with a hint of disdain, as if he had never longed for the presence of a father.
Annie Taylor's eyes became a bit misty and she fell silent.
Lucas continued, "I only need Miss Taylor. When I grow up, I want to buy the biggest diamond in the world for Miss Taylor."
Annie Taylor couldn't help but laugh through her tears and asked, "Do you know what diamonds are for, that you would buy one?"
