He felt that, if it weren't for James Black sitting next to Jane Sampson, he could chat with Jane Sampson for another hour or half an hour.
But with James Black there, he feared that James's eye daggers might pierce through the phone into his heart.
After hanging up, Jane Sampson stood up again, intending to lounge in the bedroom for a while, but as soon as she stood up, James called her.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"Back to the room," Jane pointed in the direction of the bedroom, uncertain about what James wanted her to do, she explained, "Going in to lie down for a bit?"
"The meal is already ordered, it should arrive soon, don't fall asleep," James then nodded, adding a reminder, "If you fall asleep and I wake you up, don't be upset."
Unable to guarantee whether she'd fall asleep or not, and unable to ensure she wouldn't be grumpy after being woken up, Jane Sampson, thinking it over carefully, sat back down next to James.
