Chapter 45 - [45] Gintama and Surprises

The air in the gym was electric with the exhilaration of Rixe's hard-fought victory. The players couldn't contain their joy as they celebrated their win, finally paying Skauaroka back for their loss in the summer tournament final.

"Yosssh! Let's go, we won!" Riku exclaimed, the excitement evident in his voice.

"Let's freakin' go!" Hideki chimed in, pumping his fist in the air.

"We are the best!" Zaza shouted with pride, and the players reveled in the moment.

Amidst Rixe's jubilant celebration, Izumi found himself face to face with his rivals, Ushijima and Kouhei.

The three players shared a moment of sportsmanship, acknowledging each other's skills and the competitive nature of their matches.

"Well played! This time it's our loss," Ushijima admitted with respect.

"I'm glad we managed to win this match, but there's still a lot of time for our teams to face each other. Let's call the scoreline 1-1 for now," Izumi replied, showing his forward-looking perspective.

Hearing this, Kouhei joined in the conversation. "Hahaha! I like how you think! Anyway, your agility and jumping have improved quite a lot."

Izumi nodded with a proud smile. "Yeah, I've been exclusively focusing on those areas, and you saw the result."

Kouhei couldn't help but appreciate Izumi's dedication. "That's great."

Leaving that aside, Izumi complimented Kouhei, "What the heck with your new set variations? The bic set was amazing, I wish I could do that!"

To which Kouhei playfully responded, "Said the guy who was setting the ball from every possible angle."

The three competitors continued to chat about volleyball, sharing their thoughts and experiences, as the gym buzzed with the sounds of celebration around them.

"Can't wait for the next match against you," Kouhei expressed his anticipation.

"Yeah! Next time we will be stronger," Ushijima added with determination.

Izumi joined in, sharing their excitement. "Can't wait for it."

With these words, the two rival teams departed, already thinking about the challenges and battles that lay ahead on the volleyball court.

Soon the players' celebrations came to an end, and they headed back to the locker room to change into their regular clothes. Izumi, having changed quickly, left the locker room and started making his way to the parking area to retrieve his bicycle and head home.

As he walked, his thoughts were filled with the day's victory, his strategies on the court, and the camaraderie he shared with his teammates. It had been a great match, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

However, his contemplation was interrupted when he spotted Rin, her mother and his (Izumi's) parents gathered near the club's entrance. A smile formed on his face as he approached them.

"Izumi!!" Rin called out enthusiastically as she spotted him. He turned towards the group, a warm smile on his face.

"Yo, Rin! Did you have fun watching the match?" Izumi asked as he approached the gang.

"Yeah! It was amazing, and you were so cool out on the court," Rin praised, her eyes sparkling with admiration.

"I'm glad you think that," Izumi replied with a modest grin.

"She is absolutely right; you were playing like an absolute superstar out there," Rin's mother, Aoi, chimed in, joining the conversation.

"Thanks for the compliment, I guess," Izumi said, slightly flustered.

Aoi, ever the teasing type, took the opportunity to snap a candid picture of Izumi's flustered expression, causing him to blush even more.

"Ara~ look how cute you look all flustered, Izumi-Kun," Aoi playfully teased. She even showed the picture to the others.

"What? Mom! Show me the picture...show me!" Rin exclaimed with excitement.

"Right, right! Look, isn't I correct, Izumi-Kun looks cute? Don't you agree!" Aoi said with a mischievous grin.

"Yeah! You're right," Rin confirmed, seeing the picture her mother took.

Aoi quickly shared the photo with everyone. Iori, Izumi's mother, had a good laugh at Izumi's expense, and she even suggested framing the picture as a keepsake.

Hearing this, Naozumi, couldn't help but chuckle at his son's adorable misfortune. The friendly banter continued, creating a heartwarming post-match gathering filled with laughter and joy.

After the playful teasing session, the group began discussing their lunch plans.

"So, what do you guys think? Which restaurant should we stop for lunch?" Naozumi inquired.

"How about Rogoletto?" Iori suggested.

"Sure!" Naozumi agreed.

"Alright then, I'm riding on ahead. I'll meet you at Rogoletto!" Izumi announced as he prepared to leave.

"See you soon, sweety," Iori chimed in, giving her son a warm send-off.

Izumi hopped on his bicycle, and the others settled into the car. The Miyamura family was quick to take the initiative and left no room for the Toshaka mother-daughter duo to politely decline.

Their unity and hospitality were a testament to the bond they shared, as they looked forward to a delightful lunch together.

The group gathered at Rogoletto, a cozy Italian restaurant known for its delicious cuisine. As they settled into their seats, the aroma of freshly baked bread and the tantalizing scent of tomato sauce filled the air. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the menu was filled with a variety of mouthwatering options.

Plates of bruschetta, topped with ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and drizzled with olive oil, were placed on the table as appetizers. The crispness of the bread combined with the burst of flavors from the tomatoes left everyone craving more.

They ordered a selection of pasta dishes, from classic spaghetti with meatballs to creamy fettuccine Alfredo. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the sauces were rich and flavorful. Each bite was a heavenly experience, and they couldn't help but indulge.

The main courses arrived shortly after, featuring a combination of grilled meats, seafood, and vegetarian options. The sizzling sound of grilled chicken and the delicate scent of freshly cooked fish made their mouths water. The tender and juicy steaks were cooked to perfection, and the vegetables were grilled to a charred, smoky delight.

As they savored each bite, their expressions of delight and satisfaction told the story of a truly exceptional meal. The clinking of glasses and cheerful laughter filled the restaurant, a testament to the bonds of friendship and family.

The grand finale was a dessert spread that left everyone in awe. Tiramisu, cannoli, and chocolate lava cake were among the indulgent options. The sweet, creamy tiramisu melted in their mouths, while the crispy cannoli shells were filled with velvety ricotta cream. And as they cracked open the warm chocolate lava cake, the oozing, molten chocolate created a symphony of delight for their taste buds.

As they enjoyed their meal, the conversation flowed, and plans for the day took shape.

"So, Izumi, what's your plan for the rest of the day?" Rin asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Before Izumi could respond, Iori chimed in with a chuckle, "He'll probably sleep the whole day, play games on PlayStation, or watch volleyball matches."

Izumi grumbles a little but he can't help but agree with his mother's statement, "Well, that's true."

But Rin had other ideas, and her proposal intrigued everyone. "How about you come to my house? We could work on our project together and even watch some anime."

Aoi, ever the enthusiastic mother, who Wanted Izumi to visit there house (Izumi's second visit) jumped in, "That's a brilliant idea, Rin! Izumi-Kun, let's go to our house after lunch."

Izumi considered the offer for a moment. "What about I come home first, drop off my volleyball gear, and then head to your place?"

Rin's eyes lit up with excitement. "Alright, that works! So, we're hanging out together!"

Izumi couldn't help but mutter to himself, "But it's only at your house. How's it called 'hanging out'?"

The group continued to enjoy their lunch, making plans for the day ahead, with the promise of an enjoyable afternoon spent together.

After their culinary journey at Rogoletto, they left the restaurant with contented smiles, their appetites and hearts equally satisfied. It was a lunch to remember, filled with love, laughter, and delectable Italian cuisine.

[Several hours later]

Izumi and Rin had made great progress on their project, and they found themselves at the point where they only had a few sections left to cover.

The atmosphere in the Toshaka mansion was one of concentration and camaraderie as they worked together to complete their assignment.

With a satisfied sigh, Rin marked the completion of the reptiles section. "I'm done with the reptiles. Izumi, how's your part about birds going?" she asked.

Izumi, who was deeply engrossed in his work, looked up and nodded. "Birds are all set now. We're really making good progress, Rin. We just have aquatic and domestic animals left, and then we can wrap up with the conclusion."

Rin agreed, "You're right, Izumi. We're almost there. Let's leave those sections for now, though. I think it's time for a well-deserved break. What do you say we decide on our anime choice for today?"

Izumi leaned back in his chair, contemplating their options. "You're right. We've earned a break. By the way, weren't you watching 'Naruto'? Did you complete it?"

Rin smiled, recalling her anime-watching adventures. "Not yet, I'm somewhere in the Search for Tsunade arc."

"Oh! You put it on hold or something?"

"Nope! I love Naruto way too much to do that. But I thought it would be fun to switch it up today. So Mr. what's your recommendation?"

Izumi and Rin continued their discussion, trying to decide on the perfect anime genre to watch for their well-deserved break.

Izumi asked, "Right right, so what genre do you want to watch?"

Rin thought for a moment before replying, "How about something like slice of life, maybe? Shounen is fine too."

Izumi hesitated, "I haven't watched any slice of life series recently, so it's going to be super hard to decide. I might have to look up some recommendations."

Rin, understanding the dilemma, suggested, "Then let's watch a series you already know about?"

Izumi considered it but then said, "But most of the series I know are shounen. You wanted to watch slice of life, didn't you?"

Rin assured him, "It's fine. We can do that next time. How about you suggest something different for now?"

Izumi thought for a moment and then said, "Then let's watch 'Gintama.'"

Rin recognized the name. "Oh! I've heard about that one. It's the anime that parodies other anime, isn't it?"

Izumi nodded with a grin, "Yes, you're correct. I bet you're going to enjoy this."

With that, Izumi started the first episode of "Gintama" on the TV, and the two friends settled in for a fun anime-watching session, ready to laugh at the series' playful parodies and humor.

As they continued watching "Gintama," Rin couldn't stop laughing. The anime's humor was infectious, and it had her in stitches.

"Hahaha... I can't stop laughing. It's funny as hell," Rin said, laughing uncontrollably.

Izumi chuckled in response, "Haha, didn't I tell you that!"

But as the evening drew near and the sky darkened, Izumi suggested, "I think it's enough comedy and laughing for today. It's already evening, what do you think?"

Rin agreed, looking out the window at the darkening sky. "Yeah, it's already dark outside."

They both made their way to the door of the Toshaka Mansion. It wasn't the main gate, just the entrance to the house itself.

"See you later, Izumi!" Rin said, giving him a warm hug.

Izumi returned the hug, smiling. "See you tomorrow in school."

With a final wave, they parted ways for the evening, ready to face the next day at school with more enthusiasm and the bond of friendship that only grew stronger with each shared experience.

In their classroom the next day, Izumi and Rin found themselves seated in their usual spots, ready for another day of school. The atmosphere was calm as students chatted and waited for their teacher.

Then, Kazami-Sensei entered the class with an announcement to make. The students fell silent, anticipating the news.

"Now, guys, I've got news to share with you," Kazami-Sensei began after taking attendance. One of the background characters (thinking names for those characters is a drag) inquired, "What is it, Sensei?"

'It's probably about the transfer student.' Rin thought to herself.

Kazami-Sensei continued, "So, guys, our class got a new member as of today." Another student asked, "You mean a new student?" to which Kazami-Sensei confirmed, "You are right."

"You can come inside"

She signaled for the new student to enter the classroom, and the door slid open. In walked a beautiful blue-haired girl. The unexpected sight of this girl left Izumi and Rin in shock.

'Huh!' 'WHAAT!'
