"See? I'm just that bad. Stepping all over your sincerity like this is really too much, isn't it? So, do you still feel like you owe me an apology?"
Quinn Martinez bit her lip, her face full of stubbornness, but the tears still wouldn't stop streaming down.
"I really didn't do it on purpose."
"Mm, I know. So you don't need to feel guilty."
Her voice was cold and hard, but the words still gave people an illusion.
You could almost call it a kind of comfort.
But she, Mary Douglas, how could she possibly open her mouth to comfort someone?
Sure enough, Mary curled her lips, stepped back, lowered her eyes to the flower petals crushed on the floor, and let out a soft, cold laugh.
"But you really should think it through. Sometimes your guilt, to other people, might honestly just be a nuisance."
On top of her sadness and grievance, Quinn felt mostly confusion at her words.
