Beau Reed had a displeased look on his face.
"I think Uncle Reed wouldn't mind buying a bundle of garlic sprouts."
"Growing them yourself feels different. Besides, garlic sprouts grow fast, and I can eat them at least twice a month."
"I saw a pot on the Dean's office windowsill. You're so young... such a quirky hobby."
Mary Douglas ignored him.
After two hours, they each finished their tasks.
After that, the frequently absent Beau Reed seemed to appear often under everyone's watchful eyes.
Every time, he would be seen tinkering in the flower garden.
Occasionally, one could spot Mary Douglas's silhouette at the flower bed on the other side.
But her appearances weren't frequent.
Mary didn't help take care of Beau's lilies, nor did she glance at them much.
In contrast, Beau Reed often felt inexplicably flustered watching the garlic sprouts grow day by day.
