Chapter 1 - CAN I BECOME... SYMBOL OF LIFE?
Izuku 'Deku' Midoriya is having a bad day like everyday in the last year of his Junior High.
Since he got his quirk at the age of 4 he was labeled as a villain for the crime he didn't meant to. His quirk, called 'death', just bcz whatever he touches with his left hand just dies. If it is a human then the person dies, if any non living thing then it rots. The air is also not safe from his, if he wants to then he can destroy the air molecules creating an empty space for a while.
At the age of 4, the time when 80% of the population awaken their quirks, Izuku also awakened his. That time he was playing with his father Hisashi Midoriya with All Might merchandise he had. He touched Hisashi playfully and the adult went limp.
Izuku screamed in horror not knowing how it happened but when Hisashi was taken to Hospital he was called dead but there was no injury or anything, his just died.
After that, police came to investigate they quickly found that Izuku was the reason when he told the police he touched his dad with his left hand before he went limp.
Later Izuku was tested for a quirk and he asked to touch some lab rats or fruits with his left hand and it died or rotten in no time just with one touch.
So Izuku's quirk was named as 'death'.
Though many people gave their thoughts that Izuku will be a villain in future, his mother Inko Midoriya rejected that idea immediately. Izuku is her son and he will be the number one hero in future was what she believed even though her husband died. She told that that was something Hisashi would say if he was alive.
Atlast his mother supported him which went well as the police left the case with some counseling for Izuku. In the end the report said that he will have no problem to become a hero in future if he wants to.
He was given a glove for his left hand made by his own hair so he won't accidentally kill anyone in future bcz that will end his dream.
But that didn't end Izuku's torment at his social life. His only friend Kacchan or Katsuki Bakugo called him 'villain deku' and it spread faster than anyone expected.
Till the day at Aldera Junior High he is treated as a villain among everyone and shunned by them.
It became worse when the teacher announced that Izuku is planning to go at UA high school, the most prestigious school of Japan to become a hero. Heros like All Might, Endeavor, Present Mic, Midnight or many other heroes over the ages.
The whole class laughed as a villain like Deku could never get a chance at UA. And at the school Katsuki burned his hero analysis for future vol. 13 with his explosion quirk and threw it down from the window.
Though Izuku didn't hate Katsuki, he neither like him. He stoped talking with Katsuki when he was 10 and avoided with many times. He still want to become the number one hero like All Might and he will be there someday, he vowed it many times.
"Guess I'm lucky that the notebook isn't burned completely" he said to himself as he walked in peace under a tunnel towards his home.
What Izuku didn't know, danger is lurking behind him as a glob of sludge came out from a gutter behind him eyeing at Izuku like a prize to save himself from All Might.
Izuku felt someone behind him but he didn't pay any attention, another part of his quirk, he can sense any living being near him, off course death can sense life.
Izuku quickly realized his lack of attention will be his possible death as the sludge jumped on Izuku getting in through his mouth and nose.
"Don't try to flail little boy, with this body as a host I can finally get free" the sludge villain said devilishly as he started hijack Izuku's body.
'So this is how I'm going to die. I'm sorry mom, I think I'm going to meet you soon dad' Izuku thought as air started to leave from his lungs.
"DO NOT FEAR. WHY? BCZ I AM HERE NOW"
Izuku's eyes shot open as he heard the too familiar voice of his favourite hero, the number One, All Might infront of him.
"Hehe All Might, if you try anything I'll blast his lungs in an instant" the sludge villain exclaimed and All Might stopped for a moment.
Though Izuku has another idea, he can finally see his idol infront of him, no way he is dying, not today.
Luck is in his side, the glove of his left hand came out when the villain jumped on him. He was making a fist so he won't let his hand touch anything the villain but he opened his palm.
The villain went limp suddenly.
All Might was flabbergasted at the sight but when he saw the boy going fall he quickly went behind him before grabbing him.
"Young man are you okay?" All Might asked in concern as Izuku gave a weak smile and a thumbs up to show that he is almost fine. "Here drink it" All Might offered a bottle of water he bought before he started to chase the sludge villain.
After some moments Izuku calmed Down while All Might looked at his notebook and he was baffled to see the details he wrote about quirks. The pro hero even thought the heros may not have that information over their quirks.
Izuku finally regained his composure as he spoke, literally ranted "I can't believe I'm seeing All Might, it is All Might, real All Might. I'm your big fan All Might, can you sign an autograph?"
All Might grined and quickly signed at an empty page before questioning "Was it your quirk, you used to put the sludge villain in sleep. I must apologise for making you do my job but you are really a brave young man who waited for an opportunity to save himself in a dire situation".
Izuku's smile suddenly dropped as he quickly put another spare glove at left hand which the pro hero noticed. Then he spoke "He is dead. My quirk Death rejects all life when I touch anyone or anything with my left hand".
All Might's eyes widen as he saw the young man's sadness and about his quirk.
"You are Izuku Midoriya. My old friend Tsukauchi investigated your case 10 years ago. He told me that you were my big fan and you were dejected by the incident so he asked for my help. But in the end you collected yourself so I returned back bcz of my work"
Izuku gulped as he saw smoke coming out All Might's shoulder like he is angry at him for his past crime.
But All Might had another reason so he turned away and going to tell Izuku to try to be a hero but before he could say anything Izuku yelled.
"PLEASE ALL MIGHT I NEED AN ANSWER, MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT" the last part stopped the pro hero from advancing as he turned to Izuku again. He knew what is coming.
"EVERYONE SAID THAT MY QUIRK IS VILLAINOUS AND I CAN NEVER BE A HERO BUT A VILLAIN. BUT MY MOTHER BELIEVED IN ME EVEN THOUGH I KILLED MY DAD. PLEASE ANSWER ME ALL MIGHT CAN I BECOME A HERO LIKE YOU? I WANT TO BE THE SYMBOL OF LIFE WHO WILL SAVE EVERYONE'S LIFE NO MATTER WHAT. CAN I BE WHAT I WANT TO BE?"
Izuku pleaded hoping for a positive answer from his idol. But to his surprise more smoke came out from All Might and a moment later where the number one pro hero was standing, a skeletal man stood with shaggy blond hair.
"All Might! What happened to you? Is it my fault? No! No! No! No!" Izuku cried out just for a minute before the skeletal man Toshinori Yagi put his hand on Izuku's head.
"It is not your fault young Midoriya. My health is not good" after seeing Izuku's conviction he let his true form come out as he lifted his T-shirt showing a nasty scar at his left side just at the end of his rib cage. "Six years ago I fought an enemy which was never revealed. I defeated him but I lost my whole stomach and my respiratory system is beyond repair. I can't use my muscle form for 3 hours in a day now and the time decreasing"
Izuku was shocked, a villain who injured All Might beyond repairable, no, it is repairable. He can do it. Though before he can say anything Yagi spoke again.
"Let that aside, young Midoriya, yes, you can become a hero. Quirk is a tool, a tool can never be evil. You know you can cut vegetables and a human with the same knife. Evil or good is your mind and what you want to be. You have the potential to become a hero, the thought of not turning yourself as evil is enough to be a good hero. That means you are going to UA right. With the body you have you are strong physically also I can say"
Izuku is beyond happy now, his idol said it, he can be a hero even with an evil quirk. No, the quirk is tool for him, a tool can't be evil. It just does what he is made for.
Izuku let his tears flow as he answered "I vowed that I'll never use my quirk on anyone so I trained myself so I can be strong physically. I can now crack walls with a punch". Though Izuku is not very much tall he has good muscles, like Endeavor had when he was young is what Yagi thought.
"All Might, your injury is not beyond repairable. It can be repaired" Yagi's eyes widen when Izuku claimed that with confidence. "Let me touch you with my right hand, the hand will be the symbol of life".
The confidence made Yagi do what Izuku said and when Izuku touched Yagi's stomach he felt life surging in his body. When he touched his stomach he felt the missing organs came back in life again.
"My left side rejects life while my rejects death. When I touch anyone with my left hand their life force transfered into me. When I touch someone with my right hand I can transfer my life energy to that person. With this power I can bring back anyone from death. I didn't know about this power when dad died but I took 55 years of his life and I poured 34 years into you to regrow the parts you lost"
Izuku's eyes softened with his voice became low "I know someone like you can use my dad's life force to save countless people".
Toshinori Yagi couldn't be more surprised though he pondered for a moment he thought why didn't Izuku use that power but he realized quickly if people learns about that quirk then they will force Izuku to bring back dead people and there is a sure drawback for this power.
'Is he the one?' He thought.
'He is the one' Yagi didn't know where he heard that but something told him that he is the one and yes, he will be the one.
"Thank you young Midoriya, I can't thank you enough for what you did to me. I will make nobody gets hurt in my watch with the life but..." All Might turned into his muscle form, flashing his milliom watt smile to Izuku "I must help you for this. You will meet me at Dagobah municipal beach park at 5 am. I will show you the path to become the symbol of life you want to be".
Izuki beamed happily and nodded before muttering like All Might will train him and many things the pro hero couldn't understand but shrugged off quickly.
Izuku gave the half of sludge villain's life force back before All Might put in a bottle to give the villain to a police station while Izuku walked towards his home to tell his mom about his encountet with All Might who agreed that he could tell Inko about him but not everything.
What he didn't know the day is far from over.
Katsuki Bakugo had a very bad mood after hearing that deku will try to enter at UA and he will not let it happen, Deku is a villain and he will be the one in future. As a hero it's his duty to stop him and put him at his place.
Katsuki's underlings also agreed with him while Katsuki kicked a bottle with excitement releasing a glob of sludge.
"Ahh I'm fucking finally free from that brute" the sludge looked at Katsuki and grinned "And you boy, as a return gift I'll take over your body".
Katsuki grinned maniacally as small explosions crackled at his palm "Come try it villain".
Meanwhile when Izuku made it to the market place with muttering about All Might teaching him but his mutters died down when he heard some loud explosions near an alley.
'Why I always draw myself to the trouble?' He thought and walked towards the crowd where he saw the sludge villain rampaging and backdraft, Kamui Woods, Mt. Lady and Death arms is there but they can't do anything.
Izuku saw the red haired boy around his age near him and asked "Hey! Why the heroes aren't doing anything?"
The redhead turned towards Izuku and replied "That's not manly but the villain has a hostage so they can't reach him". Izuku's eyes widen, not only the villain somehow escaped from All Might but took another hostage.
When Izuku turned towards the villain he saw a familiar blond hair with angry look.
Izuku didn't think anything before running in as everyone gasped.
"Hey!" The redhead shouted.
"Kidddd! Don't!" Death arms shouted also but everything was in vain as Izuku reached the villain.
The sludge noticed it "You! You again! Fehhh.. I'll kill you this time for I don't know what happened to me suddenly".
Katsuki also noticed him "What the f-uck deku? What are you doing here?"
"I don't know! My legs moved upon it's own" Izuku shouted before taking off his glove touching the villain as it went limp immediately. Izuku didn't waste any time as he tackled Katsuki out from the villain before touching it with his right hand to give the villain back his life.
"TEXAS SMASH" a sudden fist came out of nowhere as it knocked the villain out completely for this time. It was All Might at his muscular glory "WELL DONE YOUNG MAN. BUT NOW EVERYTHING IS SAFE, WHY? BCZ I AM HERE".
Katsuki glared at Izuku as the latter surronded by heroes being scolded for his sudden jump in the situation.
Izuku though had enough, he snapped "IT IS YOUR FAULT. YOU THREE COULD SAVE THE DAY IN NO TIME" The three pro heros shocked at Izuku's outburst but before their anger could come Izuku continues "KAMUI WOODS COULD EASILY DISTRACT THE VILLAIN WITH HIS QUIRK WHILE DEATH ARMS COULD TAKE KATSUKI OUT WITH A SURPRISE ATTACK AND MT. LADY COULD GIGANTIFY HERSELF TO BRING A CONTAINER AND CAPTURE IT EASILY. YOU GUYS ARE GODDMAN HEROS SO YOU NEED TO RUSH TO SAVE ANY PERSON, NOT TO WAIT FOR SOME MIRACLE TO HAPPEN"
Izuku finally stopped not regretting at his outburst and the reporters recorded Izuku's speech which the three heros listened without any word.
Mt. Lady was the only one who had an angry face but before she could say anything a towering figure came behind them as it said "What the young boy is true, I agree with that. You three wasted time to watch over the situation before trying to do anything. A hero should jump in without hesitation to save someone. The young man taught everyone what it takes to be a hero. Never hesitate and jump whoever needs your help".
Kamui woods and Death arms nodded agreeing with All Might as the former one replied "What All Might said is true. Young boy, you're today's hero. And I hope you will become a hero so I can work with someone like you who cam inspire people".
With that Izuku Midoriya became the hot news of Japan for that day.
"A future hero taught lessons to actual heros how to become a hero"
The headline went viral with the name of Izuku Midoriya as many people saw it while some recognized Izuku through the news as the young but who had a deadly quirk and upon it's awakening he killed his own father.
Who thought that Izuku would become a villain in future let go of that thought.
At an unknown location the famous hero killer Stain also saw the video and couldn't help but grin "A true hero like All Might. I hope I can meet you one day and test you by myself to see if you can change this filthy society".
Also an old hero named Gran Torino saw it with a hearty laugh "Well damn Toshinori, he has grown like you at your young age. When I heard about that I was worried but he is a true hero from heart. He will be one for all's ninth holder, I can see it".
"That boy. Isn't he the one with that dad murder incident?" A blue skinned girl said to her boss known as Sir Nighteye who served as All Might's sidekick for many years.
"Yes he is" Nighteye didn't say much but the look from All Might said it clear what his former boss was thinking. He needed to talk with him.
"Wonderful boy" a mouse like creature named Nezu who is also UA high school's principal joyfully exclaimed seeing the boy's bravery.
He is seeing the video with his staffs of UA faculty and some of the teachers were impressed by that.
"If I am not wrong that boy, Midoriya applied for the hero cource. I think I'll have a troublemaker" said the most bored looking one agreed by a block of cement human.
'I know Toshinori, you are planning to give one for all to that boy. Ofc you will, the boy came to this even after that traumatic event from 10 years ago' Recovery Girl thought with a small smile.
The video also went to the flame hero Endeavor who had some sort of shocked expression.
"Midoriya, green hair, same freckles. Hisashi's son. I didn't hear anything about them since Hisashi's death but he is good path is all I can see. You will be a great challenge to Shoto at UA if you get there" Endeavor said to himself grinning.
Ofc Enji Todoroki knew about Hisashi Midoriya who was his long distance cousin as the fire quirk also ran through Hisashi's blood.
When Izuku returned he was smothered by tight hugs by his mother Inko Midoriya. The housewife became chubby from the tension after her husband's death by her son's hands though she didn't loose hope for his son. Though she lost her chubbiness after Izuku pulled himself from the incident and today of all people he was acknowledged by his idol.
What can make a mother happy more than that.
"Izuku dear, for your heroic work today, you will get your favourite food katsudon. Go get yourself clean faster" Inko was going to rush at kitchen before Izuku stopped her.
"Mom, I've given dad's life force to someone" Inko stopped as she looked at Izuku to explain further.
"When I met All Might he showed me an injury which blasted his respiratory system beyond repair so I fixed it for him so he can save more lives" Inko sighed at Izuku's explanation.
"I know you will make your dad proud dear"
"All Might also promised me he will train me to be the hero I want to be. So I'm going to train with him at Dagobah beach"
"It is fine. Take this chance and make yourself proud, make us proud, make your country proud. You can do it" Inko smiled before returning to kitchen leaving Izuku with a pleasant smile on his face.
Meanwhile when Sir Nighteye was thinking about calling his old boss, the man himself called surprisingly.
"Hello All Might, I was going to call you about that Midoriya boy..." Mirai was stopped when Yagi spoke from the other side "I know what you want to say Sir Nighteye but you weren't there to see and talk with him when he said about his quirk and what he had to face for last 10 years. After what he did today I've no doubt he is the one who can be my successor".
Mirai was baffled when Yagi spoke with the authority in his voice, the same authority he disliked. He had seen his future with his quirk and he couldn't change it bcz it can't be changed no matter what he believed.
"Though I didn't tell him about one for all at the moment I showed him my injury and you know what he did?..." Mirai's eyes couldn't help but wide open at what Izuku did to his old boss. "I stayed in my muscle form for 7 hours without damaging myself and I can eat whatever I want again, I'm not coughing blood in excitement. I saw it in him, for that time he didn't see me as number one hero but a person who needs help and he did it without thinking twice. That kind of hero what this society needs. Even after I'm healed, I can't continue very long bcz I'm aging afterall".
Yagi finally stopped and Mirai could hear the enthusiasm in his voice and how highly he spoke of that boy but he still is not satisfied "Then why didn't he tell about the part of quirk before. He said that he discovered it after that incident but even he could have notify and upgrade his quirk name".
"I am glad he didn't, if people like All For One got any wind of that then do you understand what could happen? He told the information to his mother who asked him keep quiet about it but also she said that not to hesitate if someone needs help and that's what he did today"
Mirai groaned, he finally has nothing to argue against All Might, the obnoxious pro hero fought toe to tow with logic. So he sighed "Fine, do whatever you want to but if I hear that boy showed any weaknesses then I'll be taking that quirk for someone who is worthy for the quirk".
All Might didn't say anything and smirked which showed that his choise is the best much to Mirai's annoyance.
The next morning was a new day for Izuku, the day from where he will be trained by his idol to be a hero.
Izuku reached the Dagobah municipal beach park only to see chunks of junk everywhere. He heard once the beach was a great tourist spot until junks gathered there from the sea before the civilians also started to dump there.
He then saw All Might standing there waiting so he quickly ran to him.
"All Might I'm here to be trained" Izuku shouted with enthusiasm. The buffed hero laughed "That's what I call an introduction. You did it well. I researched about this beach. It was a great tourist spot once but you can see what it is now"
Izuku nodded as the hero continued "Before doing anything I can see the muscles at your body so use them and lift the fridge over there to see how much strong you are without your quirk".
Izuku didn't question, to him All Might's words are absolute so he went to fridge before checking it from each side. When Izuku was satisfied he grabbed the fridge with two hands before chugging it on his shoulder.
All Might grinned, the boy is physically strong "Now do 50 squats with it on your shoulder"
"YES SIR!" Izuku shouted as he started squats with the heavy chunk of metal on his shoulder. Though Izuku couldn't reach 50, he reached at 42 which was enough for All Might.
"You did good but now move this car to the other side"
Izuki could only lift the fornt of the car as he knew that car was an very old model means it is heavier than today's cars so he didn't try to chug it on his shoulder but drag it out.
All Might's eyes shone with excitement 'He is ready to have one for all'
Izuku panted as he looked at All Might who gave a thumbs up "You did good young Midoriya, now I can see you can inherit my quirk without blasting your limbs"
Izuku raised his eyebrow, did he hear right? Inherit All Might's quirk. Sure All Might's quirk is in news for deacades and he called it as 'Superpower' bcz of smashing everything in his way.
Looking at Izuku All Might knew he had to explain more, so he did "I always dodged the question about my quirk, but hear it. My quirk is called One For All, it is a sacred torch passed to me by master and predecessor. The first person awakened this power and passed it to another person who cultivates it and passes to the next person. In this way, those crying out to be saved and those with brave and true hearts link to form a crystalline network of power"
When All Might explained One for All, his hand glowed with a crystal energy surging making Izuku's eyes shine.
"So young man will you inherit my power and become the symbol of life to save people around you?"
Izuku made a brave face, he didn't need to be told again, he accepted.
All Might's grin went bigger when he tore a hair from his scalp "Now eat this"
"Eh?"
"My quirk cannot be stolen without my will but to inherit you must digest the users DNA and hair is the least disgusted thing to swallow. Not if you want to suck my blood. Now swallow it"
All Might stuffed the hair strand in Izuku's mouth much to his horror.
Some moments passed after Izuku calmed himself down and looked at his hands but couldn't feel anything.
"Should I suppose to feel anything?"
In a Puff of smoke All Might returned to his skinny state as he replied "It needs to be digested to work. Maybe in 2-3 hours you will feel it. But enough how about you tell me about yourself. Like your hobbies, studies, schools and friends? You went to save your friend yesterdsy, I can guess he is your good friend"
Yagi saw Izuku flinched slightly when he mentioned about school and friends but he didn't comment. He realized what could have happened bcz of a quirk like that then he put his hand on Izuku's head telling he is here with him so tell him whatever he needs to know.
The next hour could only make the pro hero angrier as Izuku told about his school and friends or the lack of friends bcz of his quirk. What his bullies did to him but in the end he was proud to hear that Izuku ended up saving the person who told him to die and hope to get a quirk in next life
Yagi calmed himself down knowing some phone calls are needed to fix some people who are not villains but trying to make villains. Then the next hour Yagi spent to tell Izuku how One for All works and how Izuku should use it. Starting from 15% to 40% then going to 100%. And now with his health returning he can teach Izuku with his everything like Gran Torino did it him.
Though at the end second hour Izuku suddenly froze not moving for a bit. The pro hero was baffled by the sudden pause but before he could rush towards any hosipital Izuku came back to life.
"Young Midoriya, what happened? You stopped functioning for 5 mins" Yagi asked with concern, he guessed that One for All is the cause.
"It's One for All, I met the vestiges of past seven users though you were not there, maybe bcz you're alive. They told me my quirk mutated One for All and unlocked it's full potential though I can't use it but they also said that I now have the quirks of past users"
Izuku exclaimed as he recalled the time in his mind.
Izuku found himself in a distorted world as he thought 'Where am I?'
"Welcome ninth holder, I didn't expect to meet you so soon but it seems we met afterall" a serene voice spoke as Izuku looked infront of him to see seven people sitting with a yellow ball of light.
"I am Yoichi Shigaraki, the first weilder of One for all" the white haired calm yet serene looking man introduced himself.
"Toshinori I mean All Might really chose a worthy holder for One for All. I am Nana Shimura, the seventh holder and Toshi's master. I've a quirk named float, I can float freely at anywhere" the only woman introduced herself with a smile.
"I'm Kudo, the 2nd user of One for All. Your Quirk's half cultivated One for All at it's full potential means it is now completely yours with the Quirk's we had. My Quirk gearshift, with one touch I can speed up anything, you know how a gear works for a car" The short spiky salmon haired man with scars at front of his face introduced.
"I am Bruce, the third weilder, my quirk is Fa jin, it can build up and store kintic energy then release it with a burst. I'm waiting to fight alongside you to eradicate the villains" the light cold grey haired man with a spiky ponytail nodded acknowledging Izuku.
"I'm Hikage Shinomi, the fouth wielder. My quirk is danger sense, it will help you if someone sneaks on you with an intent to hurt you. You see the cracks on my face, it happened bcz a body can't have two quirks since it shortening the user's life but with your quirk it stopped means your life won't end like us" the crack faced spoke.
"I'm Daigoro Banjo, the fifth user. Woah! With that funky looks and body girls will swoon over you in no time, I'm waiting to see how you deal with them. Anyaways my quirk is called blackwhip, it will shot tendrils from your fingertip and it will get powerful when you will get angrier" the most funky and rowdy looking one introduced himself with funkiness much to Izuku's embarrassment for the girls part.
"I'm En, the sixth weilder. My quirk is called smokescreen as you already guessed what it can do. But I'm not going to let you use this until you prove yourself more" the dark haired person introduced coldly not looking at Izuku waiting for the time when Izuku will prove himself.
Izuku was flabbergasted by the people in him but he quickly bowed "I'm Izuku Midoriya, the ninth wielder. My quirk is called death and with a single touch by my left hand take anyone's life force to kill them immediately. Also I can give anyone life energy to bring a person back into life if they had a body"
Yoichi, Nana and Daigoro laughed at Izuku's stiffness, they already knew what was Izuku's past and they can only blame tge society for it. It was then Nana got up and walking to Izuku she hugged him gently rubbing her hand on Izuku's hair.
Izuku calmed down quickly by the motherly aura Nana radiated as she said "It's fine Midoriya-kun. You're not alone in this world, they fear what they don't understand but it is your duty to prove them wrong and I know you can. We are now a part of you so we will help you whenever you need it".
"Thank you" it was the only thing Izuku said before the distorted world started to disappear.
"Our time is up for now but we will meet again soon. Don't feel lonely ever" Yoichi said before he returned back to All Might.
"So? How was it?" Yagi asked not sure what happened to Izuku.
Izuku told him the details one by one and now he realized more that Izuku Midoriya is really a wonder boy, whenever you think he can't do more, he will surpass that again.
