Saturday 10 AM
"Positions" by Ariana Grande is playing out of my Bluetooth speakers.
I roll around in my pajamas texting...
Kitty: So, you really think I'm cute?
Wade: Ya, sunglasses emoji.
I start blushing... I scream with my mouth closed rolling on my bed.
Light knocking on my door. I ignore it, family members can wait.
Wade: wyd.
The knocking is a little louder now.
"Just a minute, I'm not decent," I shout.
Jewel: Ay Bitch!!!
I text Wade...
Kitty: nothin, still in bed.
I text Jewel...
Kitty: Ay!
Wade: What r u wearin, smiling devil emoji.
Kitty: Shorts and a sports bra.
Jewel: Mm sexy, but I'm straight Kitty.
Kitty: Oh shoot, I meant to send that to Wade, Smack forehead emoji...
Wade: Shy...
Wade: I like Shy...
Wade: Sends a selfie with his shirt off exposing his rock-hard abdominals and tight muscles.
I text Wade...
Kitty: Blushing emoji.
The knocking is now pounding...
"Just a minute, I pay rent too," I shout.
Jewel: LMAO, u already sexting Wade?!
I text Jewel...
Eyes look up emoji...
Jewel calls...
I answer...
"Yo, girl this party is gonna be lame" Jewels says...
"Why are you a thorn in my side, meow" I say.
Wade: Don't forget dis da addy, 668 Bloodsoaked Drive.
"Wade just sent me the address," I say.
"Text it to me" Jewel says yawning.
"Yo who is pounding on your door like dat," Jewel asks
"... My father," I shout...
The pounding stops...
I text Jewel the address...
"I got it, it's at a castle in Uptown, nice... rich snobs," Jewel says disappointedly.
"Oh, a castle party, what should I wear," I ask.
"Go naked in just a crown," Jewel giggles.
"Oh, my gawd Jewel!" I shout...
"Okay, wear a skirt, show off those sexy legs," Jewel suggests.
"Maybe, I will bring some clothes to try on, is Cj still driving us," I ask
"Yeah, happy he stopped spam texting me after I unblocked him, but yeah that's the plan, oh yeah one more thing," Jewel's voice is shaky.
"What is it Jewel," I ask...
"My roommate wants to, tag a long," She conveys reluctantly.
"Oh, that's fine, I don't see why that would be a problem," I chuckle.
"Larry is so great," Jewel says sarcastically.
"I mean if you don't want him to come, just say the car is full or something," I suggest.
"Of course, I don't want him to come, but my living situation depends on it," She cries...
I try not to laugh...
"Okay Larry can't come, but he has too," I smile...
"Thank you, Kitty," Jewel says crying.
My skinny dad breaks through my door smashing to the ground.
"What the fuck was dat, Kitty," Jewel shouts...
I hang up...
"Dad what the hell," I shout...
"Breakfast," My dad shouts.
"Ah," I'm screaming and stomping as I walk through the hole in my door.
"Don't worry honey I will have this fixed once my broken ribs heal," My Dad groans.
I head downstairs, I stroll through the laundry scattered living room breezing into the kitchen where my big Momma is in her robe humming while she cooks scrambled eggs on the stove. My little brother Rocky sits with his nerdy glasses nibbling his plain bagel.
"Morning guys," I say sitting down next to Rocky.
"Morning, Kitten," Momma says softly.
"Ugh," my brother groans...
Jewel texts me...
Jewel: Are you like alive???
Kitty: Its cool, eatin...
Jewel: K, cya at my place in a few.
Momma puts a plate of French Toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon strips in front of me...
"Kitten, nice neckless" Momma says softly, but I barely hear her.
I am fixated with my phone screen...
Jewel: Cash app me 2 bucks.
Kitty: Mean Frowny emoji...
I quickly cash app Jewel 2 dollars.
Jewel: Heart Eyes emoji.
"Hey Kitty, nice necklace," My dad says with pieces of my door on his t-shirt.
"Oh, yeah, it was a gift," I say playing with the pentagram.
"Honey, did you see Kitty's necklace, it looks lovely," My dad says kissing Momma on the lips.
He smacks her ass, Rocky and I both blush pretending that didn't just happen.
"Welp, I lost my appetite," Rocky announces as he stands up from the table.
"Where ya going Tiger," Dad says hugging Momma.
"... To Therapy," Rocky says calmly fixing his glasses.
"Oh, I thought those sessions were on Tuesdays," My dad asks.
"After your public display of affection, I have been traumatized," Rocky says walking away...
I enjoy my breakfast.
"Wow he's so smart," Dad admires...
"So, Kitten, who's the guy," Momma asks sitting down.
I blush trying to chew my food...
"The guy, what guy, are you talking to strangers," Dad panics.
"His name is Wade, and we are just friends, meow" I smile.
"Aww, so he's a vampire," Momma says.
"Vampire," Dad shouts, then faints...
"Yes, how did you know," I ask eating some more.
"Male Vampires, normally give mortal girlfriends, a pentagram for protection," she explains.
"For protection," I ask...
"Yes Kitten," Momma says softly...
"So, I'm going to a party tonight, I'm staying the night at Jewel's house," I say finishing my plate.
"Not every jewel shine," Momma mumbles.
"What, Momma," I ask not hearing what she said...
"Oh, it's nothing, have fun tonight and keep your phone charged," Momma kisses my forehead as she goes to wash the dishes.
"See ya later dad," I say leaving the kitchen to get ready...
"A party with strangers and vampires, my poor little girl," He groans on the floor.
Central City 1pm
Central City is huge, well most of Big City is full of way too tall buildings. Even where I live out west in Valley Vill aka the Vill. There are a lot of way too tall buildings in a suburban area. Central City is where it all happens. Street vendors, street performers, hustlers, random celebrities, you name it.
On the subway, with my overnight bag. One more stop to Central City.
Wade: So, Beth might be at the party, skull emoji.
Not knowing what to say I ignore the text.
I get this cold feeling on the back of my neck...
I look back to see a red woman with horns sit far behind me wearing a trench coat.
Her face is covered with a surgical mask and hat over her hot pink hair...
I quickly look away, and then try to peer back, but she is gone in the crowd of people.
"Central City" The P.A. announces...
I quickly grab my overnight bag leaving.
"Kitty," a voice whispers...
I look back to see the red woman is standing inside the train staring at me through the window...
She points at me... My necklace starts to glow violet...
The train starts to move as she continues to point at me.
I watch the train until it's out of sight...
Jewel's Apartment
Jewel lives in a less than ideal area of Central City, close to Oceanside, the worst part of Big City.
I pass a group of dirty Fairies strung out on Fairy Dust. Some Fox people just smash a car window. They are hot wiring the ignition, then they screech off…
Jewel is waiting for me with her revolver sticking out of the waistband of her jeans.
This is a rough part of town, I'm glad she hasn't had to use it.
"Girl, you look like a train wreck, good thing we got some time to do your make up," Jewel says kissing my cheek.
I kiss her cheek…
We head inside her building… walking to the elevator…
"Well, you look," I stop to think about it…
"If you're gonna try a comeback, you have to be snappier," Jewel says…
We get to the elevator of the dingy building that smells like a dead dog drying in cement. Jewel pushes the up button.
"Well, you look like a goth Harley Quinn," I snap back…
"Haha, Jesus, keep your day job Jimmy Kimmel," She smiles…
The elevator doors open, we get inside.
"So, my roommate isn't home, hopefully he was murdered by a truck driver," Jewel explains…
"Jewel, that's messed up, I'm sure Larry is a nice gentleman," I respond.
"Does a grizzly bear take a shit in the ocean," Jewel asks…
"What," I scream.
"Gawd, forget it," Jewel says.
We get inside Jewel's dusty apartment... "Girls want Girls" by Drake featuring Lil Baby rumbles off the walls. I constantly lather my hands with hand sanitizer as I make my way to the bathroom.
5pm
I decide to wear a sexy black cocktail dress with a split down my left thigh. Jewel looks sexy in her leather mini skirt and fishnet stockings. Her purple hair forever in pigtails.
Our make-up is flawless.
We take a selfie together.
Jewel makes an ugly face like always; I roll my eyes...
Jewels phone is buzzing... She answers walking out the bathroom.
My phone beeps, it's a text message...
Wade: Sends a picture of people and vampires setting up band equipment.
Wade: My band is playing tonight, music notes and guitar emoji.
Kitty: So lit, heart eyes emoji.
I walk into the living room full of pizza and Chinese take-out boxes.
"What you mean your car is in the shop, Cj." Jewel shouts.
I stand across from Jewel crossing my arms.
Jewel listens intently to Cj on the other end.
"Oh my gawd, fine whatever," she hangs up.
"Um, like what happened," I ask.
"Cj's car is in the shop," she sighs.
I start pacing back and forth.
"What, when did he do that, meow" I demand.
"Just now, but he said we still got a ride," she says...
I stop facing her with fire burning in my eyes.
"Really, a ride with who," I ask excitedly.
"Kitty, you're not gonna like it," she says lighting a cigarette...
6:44pm Outside Jewel's apartment
Jewel and I stand waiting as an older tubby man that has blonde hair like Cj pulls up in an AMC Pacer with a brown paint job.
"Take on me" by a-ha is blasting from the radio.
"What, is happening, lit," The man says awkwardly.
"Dad, just say hi," Cj says reluctantly.
Me and Jewel look at each other trying not to grin.
"How rude, I am Christopher, Cj's dad," he says getting out and pulling his seat forward.
Jewel and I climb into the back of the cramped car.
"You guys can call me Chris, or C," Chris says awkwardly fixing his seat back.
"Chris is fine, sir" I say politely,
Jewel sticks her finger in her mouth pretending to vomit.
I smack her thigh; she rolls her eyes.
"Guys, wait, wait for me," someone shouts.
A fat zombie man wearing a Hawaiian button up is breathing on my window.
I jump shockingly once I notice the zombie.
"Fuck, its Larry," Jewel tries covering her face.
"Hey, it's my drinking buddy," Larry smiles drooling on the window.
"Friend of yours Jewel," ask Cj.
"More like life partners, but whatever, scoot over," Larry says...
A few moments later Larry sits in between me and Jewel pressing us against each window.
I have just enough space to hold my phone in my hand...
"Alrighty, lets boogie to the shindig," Shouts Chris as he starts driving.
"I have the location on my GPS, the freeway is faster, but take the north Uptown exit. Not Uptown Square," explains Cj.
"ETA," Asks Chris.
"Hour and twenty minutes," Cj says.
Wade: Yo, so many people here, when u comin??
Kitty: omw, can't wait!!!
Wade: Send a pic?
"So, you Kitty, delicious you smell like perfume," Larry says.
"Yeah, I'm Kitty," I say uncomfortably.
"Sweet, so when you wanna hook up," Larry asks.
"Larry how was work today," Jewel intervenes.
"Work, I don't work, I collect SSI, but if u mean work my nerves, how about get off my back," Larry snaps.
"Now, that's not a festive attitude Larry," Chris says.
"I'm sorry to the group as a whole, but fuck you Jewel individually," Larry snarks...
"Oh, my gawd, I was just tryin to make small talk," Jewel says trying to roll down her window.
"More like cockblocking," Larry whispers.
"Cock blocking, what does that mean," Chris asks.
"It's a verb that means to prevent someone from succeeding in their attempt to engage in sexual activity. See It has a Wikipedia page," Cj explains.
"Oh, my fucking gawd, you all are retarded," Jewel whines.
"Hey, hey no throwing around the R word, its triggering in 2023," Chris explains.
I stay silent, so Larry doesn't hit on me anymore.
Sometimes chaos is necessary.
"Hey, is anyone watching, Ahsoka, I fell asleep watching episode one," Cj says watching the GPS on his phone.
"Dude, no what are you a nursing home patient," Larry snarks.
"No, but I find nursing homes a great place to study," Cj replies.
The car is quiet for a moment, until my phone chimes with a text message.
Wade: Sends a video of the inside of a crowded castle, live music playing in the background. Loud cheering.
"That looks lit, so many people to bite," Larry smiles.
"What, meow," I shout.
"They will be too drunk to notice, it's how a zombie feeds in moderation," Larry explains.
"Maybe you could ask them first, Larry, honesty is key to a good friendship," Chris says.
BEEP, BEEP!
"Lucifer Rising" by Rob Zombie plays on the radio.
A big Flaming Semi-truck shines its high beams on us as it drives through innocent cars causing several accidents on the freeway.
Oh, jeez, he wants to get around, let me get into the slow lane," Chris says looking in the rearview mirror.
"What, fucking drive," Jewel panics.
My necklace starts to spark a little...
"Anyone getting, a Pet Cemetery vibe," Larry says looking back terrified.
I snap a pic of the Flaming Semi-truck smashing through traffic speeding up behind us.
I send the pic to wade.
The Semitruck is right next to us as we enter a bridge.
The heat off the truck hits my face like a boiling breeze.
I can't see into the tinted windows; my necklace starts to glow violet.
The semi rams us...
We swerve, Jewel screams, I try not to pee on myself.
Chris maneuvers like a NASCAR driver, accelerating creating distance from the Flaming Semi-truck.
"No, I get Ghost Rider vibes," Cj says still focused on the GPS.
"Larry, yeah I can see that," Larry agrees.
"Gawd, Unions suck," Jewel complains.
We get off the bridge heading onto winding roads surrounded by thick trees. The Flaming Semi-truck twists along the road gaining on us.
I get a text message...
Wade: Fuck, Beth is so annoying!!!
"So, Kitty, what's with your glowing necklace," Chris asks.
"Oh, it was a gift, from this guy I'm kinda talking to," I explain.
"I'm heartbroken," Larry sulks.
The Flaming Semi-truck catches up to us ramming us off road into the woods...
My necklace flashes...
Chris maintains his control driving dodging incoming trees...
Jewel smashes the window shooting at the truck. Larry screams.
I text Wade.
Kitty: Send me a picture of her.
Wade: Sends a picture of Beth. A red skinned demon woman with horns and a hot pink bobcat haircut. She is frowning.
Goosebumps make my fur itch. She was following me...
The Flaming Semi-truck starts to catch trees a blaze as it is about to ram us like an atom bomb...
The semitruck smashes into a violet barrier protecting the AMC Pacer...
An explosion sends us soaring into the night sky...
I would say, what a breath-taking view of Big City, if I weren't about to fall to my death.
Then we splash into a local pool, slowly sinking in the deep end...
