She can still live a life of carefree spending.
The car arrived at the neighborhood where Thomas Smith bought her that apartment. The security guard stood at the gate as usual, saluting the residents coming and going.
She looked at those security guards who had to stand on duty all day, working hard, and their monthly salary wasn't even enough for her to buy a necklace.
She couldn't imagine if she hadn't grabbed onto Thomas as a lifeline, would her future days be just like those security guards?
Just the thought of it made her shudder.
So, she had to hold onto Thomas, this last straw, tightly.
Just as she entered the neighborhood, her phone rang. It was a number she hadn't contacted in a long time, not saved, but she had etched those glaring digits into her memory.
She showed a hint of uncontrollable annoyance on her face, finally pressing the answer button, "What is it?"
