Bright Star City, Bright Star Island, Flowing Stars Archipelago, Earth

Omniscient P.O.V.

A few hours passed by with both Adeliya and Demian enjoying each other's presence and embrace, sometimes whispering sweet nothings to each other, at other times speaking about random topics.

However, most of their time was spent in silence, basking in the afternoon sun, the latter moving slowly toward the western part of the sky, bringing with it some of the tropical heat, though the temperature still stayed comfortably warm.

It was not until the sky started turning dimmer that the evening sky unveiled some of the bright and unknown stars sprinkled all over the sky, a place that even with his current cultivation, Demian was incapable of reaching.

Were those stars 'solar stars' or some other strange Worlds?

What was considered a World, actually?

Was it the so-called planet that mortal science claimed it to be, or was it something beyond that?

What about the Immortal Realm?

Was it a much bigger planet or something different, like the 'round heaven, square Earth' in the Chinese mythology?

So many questions...

The two young lovers kept sharing their thoughts, trying to guess the secrets behind this universe, though neither of them really expected to be right, merely seeing it as an interesting game to spend time together.

After all, attempting to comprehend how the universe worked as a low-level cultivator was bound to be even more difficult than for an ant trying to understand quantum physics.

Neither of the two was foolish enough to believe they could do it.

Not yet, at least.

Nonetheless, curiosity was still there, a general human trait that had resulted in both great and terrible consequences.

"I wonder if we'll be able to find out the answers one day..."

Liya mumbled, her back resting against Demian's torso.

A few seconds of pensive silence later, the young man replied.

"Well, cultivation is pretty much the process of comprehending the Universe's Laws, growing stronger while doing it, so I'd say there's a fair chance. Then again, it depends on what level of understanding you're talking about."

Letting out a hum of acknowledgement, the redhead added.

"And it's not as if we know what's there after becoming Immortal, so the Universe can wait. I mean, there have to be some sort of distinctions between Immortals, right? Just like for Mortal cultivators with Ranks and Levels, I mean."

While gently rubbing his chin against her silky crimson hair, he commented.

"Again, it would make sense, but we might have to wait until we reach that level to learn about them."

As the two were lost in their conversation, their ears suddenly caught Bryn's voice coming from behind them, her tone filled with irritation.

"Mom, weren't you supposed to train with me this afternoon? How are you supposed to keep up with us if you waste so much time doing nothing but lazing around with Dem?"

Jumping from the young man's body to stand with her expression filled with guilt, Liya was about to explain herself, but was immediately interrupted by her daughter, who turned her striking blue orbs towards Demian's face, the latter having followed the brown-eyed redhead's lead, though much more slowly than the redhead, and commented in a resentful tone.

"And you! You know Mom's cultivation speed is already way slower than ours, but you still indulge her. Do you even care about her keeping up with us? Do you want her to grow old and pass away in just a few hundred years? Weren't you claiming that..."

The young woman then went on and on about how immature the two were, blaming them for not thinking about the future, while her emotions grew more and more agitated to the point that Demian's senses even picked up on the light mist gathering in her eyes.

As for Liya, having known the young woman since she was born—Bryn was, after all, Liya's blood-related daughter—, she could tell that something else was bothering her and even what that something was.

Clearly, it was not her mother 'lazing around' that bothered her, but instead...

Before the golden-skinned woman could grow even more distressed, Demian felt he had to do something and thus walked slowly toward her with a warm smile.

Seeing him walking in her direction, the redhead's expression turned into a mix of irritation and anticipation, though her words were still harsh.

"You, stop right there! You better not..."

Before she could say anything else, Demian's arms circled her waist before pulling her gently against him, his right hand immediately moving to stroke her soft red hair before a whisper escaped his lips.

"I understand. We'll bond tonight, so you can rest easy."

Hearing those two short sentences, the young redhead's body shook slightly, her heart filled with surprise.

Was she so easy to read that, with just a few words that were not even brushing against the real problem, Demian could instantly tell the reason behind her bad mood?

Weren't men supposed to be as dense as bricks when it came to emotions, especially when it was related to their women?

Feeling the gentle caress on her hair, Bryn suddenly felt confused as to what she was supposed to say and how she was supposed to act.

Should she stay mad at him?

In a way, she would be in the right since he had made her a promise and did not honor it.

Granted, it was only a few days' delay, but still...

But wouldn't that make her look too childish?

For the first time in a very long time, the 25-year-old 'world-champion' with fighting prowess so high that an entire town could be blown up with a single one of her punches, a woman who thrived on blood-pumping, life-threatening fights, felt utterly lost.

She was not sure if it was his gentleness, genuine care, or experienced touch, but the built-up resentment previously filling her Heart seemed to melt like snow under the sun with each stroke of his hand on her hair, each warm breath on her sensitive ear, and each tender whisper leaving his lips.

She...

She was a complete goner.

Yes, she said it.

Brynhild Mikhailov was a sucker for her man's gentleness towards her.

Some women had their men twirling around their fingers, but for her, it was clearly the opposite.

Obviously, Demian knew exactly what to do and what to say to appease her to an almost uncanny level.

She had read many romance novels in the past, and the whole trope with the woman being dependent on her man was familiar to her.

However, knowing herself well, she always believed that it was impossible for her to act that way.

No, instead, she would be the dominant one in the relationship.

Well, apparently, she did not know herself as well as she had previously thought.

Dominant?

It would already be good if she did not let him walk all over her, let alone being dominant.

Fortunately for her, he was not the dominant CEO type either.

Instead, he was always kind to her, always with a gentle word or gesture, and his observation skills were so high that he only needed to hear a few words from her to understand what she was going through.

Still, all her expectations were completely subverted by his attitude, leaving her confused as to what she should do.

So, should she just let go and trust him completely, or would he end up betraying her trust?

It was not that she thought Demian would abandon her, not after having been by his side since he was a baby and having observed his changed personality these last few months.

No, what she feared was being neglected, being treated as the 'lesser' wife, while her sister, and even her mother, would receive all his attention.

Against her mother, whose body was objectively sin incarnate, full of soft curves that would tempt the staunchest married man, and her sister's own, whose proportions were the perfect balance between soft and hard, round and sharp, what could she even compete with?

Granted, with her recent breakthrough, her physique turned slightly softer.

However, her muscle definition and mass were still something that even Demian, with his god-like physique, could not match.

Even her facial features leaned a lot more on the sharp side, a trait originating from her father's side, unlike her mother and sister's rounder appearance.

If it were in the past, her appearance would be a point of pride for her, showcasing her powerful strength to anyone with a functioning brain.

However, her current situation was different, and 'powerful' was not the image she needed to display.

Not to the man she had feelings for anyway.

'Don't men prefer softer women?'

She thought, wondering if the man's gentle actions toward her were due to pity, his tender words just a way to placate her, while his heart leaned toward the other two women.

As her mind was spiraling into a self-demeaning delusion, her attention was suddenly attracted by a soft touch, prompting her to open her eyes, glancing toward her mother, who was currently stroking her cheek while sporting a warm smile on her face.

"What are you overthinking about in that little head of yours, my silly daughter?"
