Obviously things got a little awkward after Nerissa finished her food and she was back to just trying to make herself as small as possible in the corner of the room.
I wasn't even using the dogs to threaten her since I had them waiting by the door, all of them content and laying on the floor after I fed them the dried meat.
"So… Happy?" I asked, letting the question hang in the air without specifying what exactly I was asking that she was happy about.
She shuddered, her gaze drifting to the plate that was licked completely clean on the table before shifting her gaze back to me.
I cocked an eyebrow at her which made her flinch slightly but she didn't look away.
"I… I'm sorry…" She whispered in a voice that was almost inaudible.
I was actually surprised to hear the apology since I was half sure that she would sooner let herself get killed by her pride before she would even start to admit that she did something wrong.
