Its head dived back into the sand. The ground shook.
A moment later, a huge tail shot out from the desert. It swung toward the spot where Alex had been before.
The impact was so strong that it split the desert floor into two and opened a deep chasm.
The tail vanished. The creature's head rose again, just enough for its eyes to see the damage.
The pale amber eyes glistened with satisfaction when it saw the chasm.
Then its head sank back into the sand, and the surface slowly returned to a calm state.
Deep underground, Alex felt pain in every part of his body. He ignored it.
He was more worried about Quartz and Olivia.
