"Quite." Matthew sighed. "You're better than I thought."
"Do you think I qualify to be part of the Dietrich Family?"
Matthew glanced at her and laughed. "That will depend on loyalty."
"Loyalty?" She was confused. "Didn't I prove myself trustworthy?"
He stared at her and touched her chin with his hand. She was almost as tall as he was, but that slight touch made her look him in the eyes.
"You are trustworthy, but your loyalty is not with me. Not now. Your talent is impressive, but can you prove your loyalty to me? I am Matthew Dietrich, the rightful heir to the Dietrichs. If I do not receive true loyalty, I do not give power. Because, honestly, I do not need power," he replied.
She continued to stare at him until he looked away. She did not respond further.
"By the way... you didn't come here just to participate in that tournament, did you?" Matthew asked.
"I'm pursuing the trail of the dark guild, honestly. The tournament was just secondary fun."
