Facing the river that ran through the city of White Border, Matthew stood quietly watching the water flow slowly by.
A few fish swam around, sniffing the rocks on the bottom; none were on the surface at this hour. Although the world remained dark night and day, it was now late at night.
The Martial Arts Tournament celebrations were over, and although several families and houses were still lively, the city was going through that January month that always feels desolate.
Even that didn't change in this world.
Leaning against a nearby tree was Cecily, her body completely covered from head to toe just like Matthew, only she was not enjoying the scenery. Instead, she was looking at him.
"Why do you like looking at that river so much?" Cecily asked suddenly.
"Do you think I like it a lot?"
"You were looking at it earlier, too." She remembered yesterday when they happened to pass by here.
Matthew laughed. "I thought no one was watching me when I looked at things I liked."
