The child cried even harder.
"Is she alone?" Valentine Teller also leaned over, squatted down in front of the child, who seemed to be only three or four years old. She was extremely scared of strangers and burst into tears whenever she saw them.
Turstin Muller nodded: "Seems like it. Let's stay with her for a while, maybe her parents will show up soon."
"Okay."
Valentine stood up and walked over to a nearby small store to buy five lollipops.
It's easiest to calm a child down with candy; they'll be good in no time.
Just like when I was little, no matter how sad I was, candy would always make me smile through my tears.
She tore open the wrapper and brought the lollipop to the child's mouth: "Sweetie, have some candy. Auntie bought you a lollipop, it's really sweet, mmm... so sweet!"
The child looked at the candy and then at Valentine. It was unclear whether it was her animated expression or the sweetness of the lollipop that stopped the child's crying.
