The spoon halted just before his lips as Young Aether quietly stared across the table at Jonathan, who returned the gaze without the slightest hint of wavering.
Neither of them spoke. Their eyes remained locked together as if silently weighing something neither wished to voice first.
The atmosphere around the dining table gradually tightened.
Both Maiuri and Sasha instinctively exchanged uneasy glances.
Just when it felt as though something was about to erupt,
