After the event, Lin Runjie and Tan Yanli both escorted Wen Xiaojie home. Her child was already asleep from exhaustion, and Wen Xiaojie carried the child off the car while Tan Yanli took her bag and went in together.
Leaning against the car window, Lin Runjie watched their backs. That evening, he noticed that after Tan Yanli finished singing, she played Rock-Paper-Scissors with Kangkang and thoughtfully gave him things to eat. He knew that she was channeling her yearning for Ranran into caring for Kangkang.
When Tan Yanli came out of Wen Xiaojie's house, she saw Lin Runjie in a daze. Even after sitting in the car and closing the door, he remained in that position.
"Runjie, what are you spacing out about?"
She reached out to nudge Lin Runjie. He snapped out of it and smiled, responding, "It's nothing!"
"Let's go!"
Lin Runjie didn't drive the car back to the apartment, causing Tan Yanli to turn her head in confusion and ask, "Runjie, aren't we going home?"
