Chapter 244 - Chapter 237: Message in a Bottle

The sun shone brightly over the sparkling waters of the Orange Archipelago as Ash and his group resumed their journey. Lapras glided gracefully through the gentle waves, her crystalline crown catching the light with every movement. Ash sat at the front, guiding her with light touches and soft words, while Misty, Sabrina, and Daisy sat comfortably behind him, enjoying the warm sea breeze.

Tracey rode proudly on the back of Ash's Shiny Gyarados, the massive red serpent cutting smoothly through the water beside them. The Watcher was busy sketching the beautiful seascape, his pencil flying across the page.

"Wow, this never gets old!" Tracey called out, grinning from ear to ear. "Riding a Shiny Gyarados is still the coolest thing ever!"

Ash laughed and waved at him. "Just don't fall off, Tracey!"

The girls were in high spirits. Misty leaned back against Sabrina, letting the sun warm her face, while Daisy hummed a soft tune, occasionally reaching out to gently stroke Lapras's shell. Giselle sat near the back, still wearing her maid outfit, looking more relaxed than usual as she watched the endless blue horizon.

Suddenly, Lapras let out a melodic cry and slowed down. She dipped her head into the water and came back up holding something delicate in her mouth a glass bottle, sealed with a cork and glinting in the sunlight.

"Whoa, what's that?" Misty asked, leaning forward curiously.

Ash carefully took the bottle from Lapras and uncorked it. Inside was a rolled-up piece of paper. He smoothed it out and read aloud:

"If you know anything about the Pokémon known as Crystal Onix, please let me know about it. Signed, Marissa from Sunburst Island."

The group exchanged intrigued glances.

"Crystal Onix?" Daisy tilted her head. "I've never heard of that before. Sounds beautiful though."

Sabrina's eyes glowed faintly for a moment. "There is an old legend about a special Onix made entirely of crystal on one of these islands… but it's considered just a myth by most people."

Ash folded the note carefully, a determined spark lighting up in his eyes. "Well, myth or not, someone out there is asking for help. Sunburst Island isn't too far from our route. What do you guys say? Should we check it out?"

Misty pumped her fist. "Of course! If someone needs help finding a rare Pokémon, we're in!"

Daisy nodded with a warm smile. "Plus, Sunburst Island is famous for its glass sculptures and crystal souvenirs. It'll be fun even if we don't find anything."

Tracey's eyes were already sparkling with excitement. "Glass art? That sounds perfect for sketching! Let's go!"

Giselle gave a small nod. "I… will assist in any way I can, Master Ash."

With everyone in agreement, Ash patted Lapras gently. "You heard them, girl. Set course for Sunburst Island!"

A couple of hours later, the group arrived at the bustling docks of Sunburst Island. The town was alive with color and light. Everywhere they looked, beautiful glass sculptures sparkled in the sunlight delicate glass Pokémon, wind chimes, and intricate crystal ornaments filled the shops. Tourists wandered around happily, buying souvenirs and taking photos.

As they walked through the lively streets, they noticed a little girl sitting alone on a bench near the town square. She looked around ten years old, with short brown hair and a dejected expression. Her shoulders were slumped, and she stared at the ground sadly.

Misty was the first to approach her gently. "Hey there… are you okay?"

The girl looked up, her eyes widening slightly when she saw the group, especially Ash and his Pokémon. "You… you're trainers? Did you… did you find my message?"

Ash knelt down to her level and showed her the glass bottle. "We did. I'm Ash, and these are my friends. You're Marissa, right?"

The little girl nodded, her eyes filling with a mix of hope and worry. "Yes… I threw that bottle into the sea a few days ago. I was hoping someone who travels a lot might know something about the Crystal Onix."

She took a deep breath and began to explain.

"My grandfather was an amazing glass artist. He had the special 'artistic spark' that inner fire that made all his glass sculptures feel truly alive, like they had a soul. People came from all over the world and Orange Islands just to buy his crystal creations. But… after he passed away, my big brother Matio has been trying to continue the family workshop. He's really good with his hands, but he just can't grasp that same talent. Everything he makes now looks pretty on the outside, but it feels empty… no soul, no inner fire."

Marissa's voice grew softer, filled with determination and sadness. "Grandfather used to tell us a story. When he was young, he came face to face with the Crystal Onix deep in the crystal caves of this island. Meeting it gave him the artistic spark that changed everything. That's why our family's glasswork became so famous."

She clenched her small fists. "That's why I've been searching for the Crystal Onix. I hope that if my brother meets it too, he can find his own spark… so our glass sculptures can have that same life and soul again, just like Grandfather's."

The group listened quietly, touched by her heartfelt story.

Ash smiled gently and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We'll help you, Marissa. We'll find the Crystal Onix."

At that exact moment, a familiar mechanical voice rang only in Ash's mind.

[Ding!]

New Mission: Help Matio regain his artistic spark via the Crystal Onix. Catch the Crystal Onix.

Reward: Ice Onix Core(An item that will help the Crystal Onix evolve into Icelix a mutated Steelix variant.)

Ash's eyes gleamed with quiet excitement as he read the notification. This mission felt meaningful.

He looked at Marissa with a confident grin. "Alright, lead the way. Take us to your brother first, and then we'll head to those crystal caves. We've got a legendary Pokémon to find!"

Marissa's face lit up with pure joy for the first time. "Really?! Thank you so much, Ash! You're the best!"

Misty, Sabrina, and Daisy exchanged warm smiles behind him, proud of their boyfriend's kind heart. Even Giselle looked touched by the scene.

As the group followed the excited little girl toward her family's glass workshop, Ash felt the familiar thrill of a new adventure beginning.

The Orange Islands continued to surprise them this time with beauty, family legacy, and a mysterious crystal Pokémon waiting deep in the caves.
