Chapter 297 - Chapter 296 - Victory spreads.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Japan.

...

...

"A shadow appeared in that city where the vampires were positioned. Two giants were taken down by it. It looked like a knight-general wielding a sword, cutting off the giant's head with ease!" On the radio, the voice of a soldier came through to the army general commanding the Muggle operations across the country.

"Are you telling me that a dark thing, with a sword, cut down the two giants in an instant, while none of our weapons or artillery worked against them?! You must be joking!" the general snarled in frustration at the radio.

He did not know whether to feel useless or grateful. Either way, his eyes turned to the important wizards beside him. "Is it the man you said had come, the one who can raise an army of dark magical beings by himself?" he asked, almost clicking his tongue.

"Yes. I have seen this knight before. He is one of Severus Prince's soldiers," Dumbledore replied, looking thoughtful as he processed the information.

"Yes. The Princess of Atlantis also spoke about this shadow when reporting what happened in her kingdom, which was saved by these soldiers and Severus. You should be thankful, general. Thanks to this man and his shadows, we are managing to reverse the situation of a destroyed country," Vicência said in a serious tone.

The general stared at her for a moment before snorting. "Even so, we have to rely on these things because our weapons don't work... It shouldn't be like this," the Japanese general murmured.

"Anything else we should know?" The general turned back to the radio, seeking more information.

"General, there is one more detail," the radio spoke again. "We heard about one of the vampires who can use magic with those wands. She managed to injure a giant as well, cutting its leg and making it fall to the ground, before the knight appeared, who killed the first giant and then killed the one that the witch among the vampires had injured," the man on the radio replied.

The general lifted his gaze to the group of wizards, who exchanged looks among themselves.

"Can you give me a description of her? I suspect she is Severus's own fiancée," Dumbledore said, somewhat curious, as the general asked over the radio.

"Red hair like blood. That's all we could identify. But her magic is red as well."

"Then it's her, Rosaria Valenstein. She has been living with Severus inside the Prince estate since Severus's ascension to the Princes, a few weeks ago. As far as I know, they train together."

"Maybe he taught her something," another wizard in the group commented.

"If he taught her something, then we can learn how to defeat that monster as well, right?" Vicência exclaimed.

It is true that, in the war against the monsters in Atlantis, the weapons of the kingdom's soldiers were able to take down the smaller creatures, but against the stronger ones they were useless. The giants of Japan also had extremely tough skin that nothing worked against. However, Dracula's daughter managed to injure it. Severus must have taught her something.

The conversation would have continued if not for a soldier running toward the location.

"We have a problem!" he shouted.

In the next moment, suddenly, an object went flying and slammed into the buildings behind the soldier. Everyone was startled. The soldiers ducked and heard an explosion. It was a car crashing into the concrete of the building after flying through the sky.

"What is that?" the general murmured, stunned.

"The giant in the city! He's trying to take down the helicopter!" the man said.

At that moment, the giant was in the middle of the city, with the support team of wizards and the army preparing to try to take him down on that more distant side.

He roared in rage as he grabbed another car from the ground and aimed it at the helicopter, which seemed to irritate him in particular.

He threw the first car, which fell in the area where the general and all the wizards were, and quickly threw another at the helicopter, which moved away as much as it could.

"Quick, turn this!" the co-pilot exclaimed.

The one at the controls quickly turned the stick to the side, making the helicopter tilt abruptly. The soldiers in the back were startled, trying to hold on to anything so as not to fall with that sudden inclination, while the car passed dangerously close, but still missed the target.

When the helicopter stabilized, the men wasted no time and began shouting for the pilot to get out of there. And that was exactly what he did, turning the aircraft and starting to move away.

The giant saw this and snarled, grabbing another car and throwing it, but missing once again.

Feeling challenged, the giant simply jumped onto the top of a building after grabbing yet another car. Then, he began climbing it before leaping to the next building, charging in pursuit of the helicopter, as if chasing prey that refused to escape.

He threw the car, but missed once again, nearly hitting the helicopter with the people inside it terrified and not wanting to die.

"He's coming! Climb! Climb fast! Don't let him catch us!" the soldier shouted in Japanese.

The giant's speed was greater than that of the helicopter. As they moved toward the area where the wizards were, they prepared to attack. However, the creature reached the aircraft in the sky. He raised his arm and jumped, grabbing the rear part of the helicopter, the tail.

The aircraft spun violently to avoid being fully captured, but the giant's hand crushed and tore off that part, which exploded into pieces. The helicopter began to fall without the rear section to stabilize it, with the men screaming, smoke rising from the lost tail, and the panel beeping frantically, signaling that they were falling.

The giant fell back to the ground, apparently satisfied at seeing the helicopter plummet. However, before it hit the ground, something flew toward it at extremely high speed and stopped the fall.

A shadow lifted the helicopter into the air with ease, grabbing the men who had fallen from it and placing them back inside with extreme ease and speed.

The shadow stared at the giant for a moment and then looked toward the humans in the distance. In a flash, it went to them, carrying the helicopter itself with a single hand.

He set the destroyed aircraft down on the ground under everyone's astonished gazes, without saying a word. Then, he released the helicopter and stepped away.

That shadow continued down the street, revealing itself to be a humanoid ant, the same one Severus had fought at Hogwarts, once again walking toward the giant.

"What is that thing…?" the general could not help but exclaim, stunned, staring at the shadow for the first time while making a grimace.

"Hey… that is the soldier of that dark sorcerer!" a wizard among them murmured.

The shadow stopped upon hearing this and turned around. "I am one of my sovereign's main soldiers. Treat him with respect in my presence," said Beru, with a powerful voice that echoed, stunning everyone present simply by the fact that such a thing could speak.

"That thing talks…," the general murmured.

"Yes." Dumbledore remembered very well the dialogue Severus had had with her when she was resurrected in front of Hogwarts Castle; Severus himself had seemed stunned by the fact that she could communicate as well. After all, Kargalgan could speak when he was a monster, but he could no longer speak when he became a shadow.

In any case, Berros did not waste time. "Stay there, humans. I will deal with the giant," he said immediately.

He bent his legs and shot off in a flash, advancing at full speed toward the giant.

In the next moment, it was no longer a fight. The giant, enraged at Berros for having saved the helicopter, charged with all his strength, but soon began to be beaten down.

His body became covered in wounds. Beru did not grant him a quick death, as he could have; he simply began to toy with the giant before cutting his neck. In truth, everything lasted no more than ten seconds, and the giant collapsed, falling upside down into the street.

"He killed him… so quickly..." the general murmured, wearing the same expression as everyone there; even the wizards were doubting their own eyes.

That entire operation they had carried out was, in the end, resolved by a single shadow.

"My lord, General sir, report!" someone shouted over the radio.

The general blinked, coming out of his daze, and picked up the radio. "Tell me what the situation is," he ordered.

"The shadows, soldiers made of darkness, are appearing all over the country. They are defeating all the giants," the man said, more excited than he intended.

Dumbledore, Vicência, and the others could not help but look on with curiosity.

Meanwhile, across various areas, the giants were being defeated.

In one city, survivors fleeing in panic suddenly saw a giant being surrounded by ants, which bit him while he tried to fight them, being devoured alive.

Elsewhere, black monsters using a kind of strange magic advanced like a swarm over the giant there; they were shadow centaurs, with a leader hurling axes at other giants.

Kargalgan appeared leading the superior orcs in another area, spewing flames alongside other shadow mages, burning a giant alive.

At another point, a group of bears charged forward, with Tank ripping out a giant's eye before being crushed after being slammed into the ground. The main bear even died, but soon its shadow began to regenerate, while the other bears continued biting the giant, who tried to shake them off. Each time one was killed, the newly formed shadow regenerated.

Elsewhere, the ice elves were also there, fighting another giant. They began delivering multiple superficial cuts with their daggers at extremely high speed, freezing the struck areas and causing the giant immense pain.

All across the country, reports came in, with giants falling one by one as Severus's thousand shadows spread out, regenerating with ease.

In another city, beside a dead giant, Severus stood still, looking at a system screen that displayed his mana points while watching the shadows demand energy to regenerate and his magic summon thousands of people and use healing on them.

Even so, he still had almost 99 thousand magic points out of his 115 thousand; it barely scratched the surface. Not even five percent of his mana had been spent.

Perhaps, before the Black Heart, he would have already been depleted of mana and unable to continue. That would have made Japan a much more difficult task, to the point of becoming something Severus could not even handle. But now, he possessed an abnormal amount of mana, and his mana would not easily recover even with a potion.

"Thank you… thank you for saving us!" a voice in Japanese caught his attention.

Severus shifted his focus away from the system and looked at the soldiers, all wearing uniforms and helmets, weapons in hand, staring at the fallen giant and then at him, with a gleam of admiration and hope in their eyes.

This is the man they were talking about on the radio. Both the army's order and a request from the president informed us that you would be here to help us and that you should not be disturbed.

Severus nodded and looked to the side, seeing an elderly couple being helped by another soldier, removing them from a building that had been attacked by the giant. Severus had appeared just in time and taken it down.

"I will place all the survivors of the city in a single location. You must provide support for now. I will also bring food and water from the city," Severus said.

He began to materialize his staff and, before any soldier could say anything, everything around them changed. In an instant, they found themselves in another place, with a crowd of people exclaiming in fear at the sudden change of scenery and the dizziness caused by apparation — even though Severus did it so subtly that almost no one was seriously affected.

Suddenly, bundles of water and food began to appear. Severus appeared in the sky and explained the situation in Japanese, saying that the giant had been defeated and that he expected the soldiers to provide support in the meantime. He then informed them that he would go to another city. But before that, he summoned his Patronus and began healing everyone in that crowd of twelve thousand people with his personal animals.

With that, he disappeared before people could thank him. There were other cities that needed him, and he moved on, flying through the sky.

Meanwhile, Vujin was taking photos the entire time. Severus barely noticed him, even as he appeared everywhere Severus was, without warning, recording both soldiers facing giants and the rescue of civilians.

He had photos of the ants digging into the ground to pull people trapped beneath destroyed buildings. Another photo showed Igris carrying an unconscious child in his arms.

In another image, shadow bears tried to hold up a concrete wall while people ran away so as not to be crushed.

Beru began to use his healing magic, searching for injuries and even causing limbs to grow back on people who had lost them.

Over the following hours, all of Japan was overtaken by those shadows, bringing down giants and saving people. Severus continued moving from city to city, even to those where there were no giants, searching for survivors, gathering them in safe locations, and using his Patronus specter to heal the wounded and call in support soldiers before disappearing and moving on to the next point.

Japan had finally reversed its desperate situation. There were many dead, but countless lives were also being saved, while the threats were destroyed one by one.
