[Chapter Size: 2700 Words.]
Third Person POV
Japan.
...
...
It was the middle of the night when footsteps echoed through the destroyed streets. Tokyo was, by far, the most devastated city in all of Japan.
Skyscrapers were demolished, broken in half and collided with others, about to collapse at any moment, while other smaller buildings had been completely destroyed, reduced to countless pieces.
The sky remained red, with a portal still stretching at the center of the area. There was a giant standing there, as tall as the skyscrapers, in the middle of the city, like a guardian.
It remained in a fixed position. Without even moving its face, it stared straight ahead at the horizon, not bothering to look down. It did not seem to notice the man wearing a black jacket walking through the streets near its position. That man eventually stopped at least about 800 meters away from the creature, his piercing eyes staring at the giant from afar.
It was Severus. He was studying the creature standing amid all that destruction. There were bodies of dead people everywhere: soldiers and civilians who had failed to escape the giants coming out of the portal. There had been more deaths there than in any other city when everything began at that point.
A flash of rage appeared in his eyes. Not even Voldemort and his groups had come close to what had happened there, in Japan.
Someone sighed beside him with a certain tension.
"Well, I finally arrived. I thought I was going to miss this," said the voice Severus knew so well.
Severus Snape stared at the damn reporter but said nothing. He was already tired of trying to decipher what that person was. He had been following him all night, while his shadows continued to defeat giant after giant.
"Don't look at me like that," the man said, seeming to read Severus's thoughts. "I'm quite excited. Your shadows have just defeated the last giant, with the exception of the one Atlantis is trying to take down at the bottom of the sea. You have finally freed Japan. You should feel proud of that," said Vujin, with an extremely proud look.
"You know..." Severus began, looking at that man. "...I have the impression that you could deal with all of these giants. I wonder why you did nothing. You let these people die." After saying this, he saw a flash of sadness in Vujin's eyes, which even surprised him.
Severus wondered if he truly cared about all those dead people, after all.
Vujin merely sighed.
"Well, I am sorry for them. I am sorry for what happened here. But, unfortunately, this is necessary. If humanity wants to defeat what is to come, sacrifices must be made, they need to see the danger they are facing..." he said, still with the same sadness.
"If humanity wants to defeat..." Severus narrowed his eyes.
He could feel that that creature — whatever that man was — was ancient. But why would it be there? What was the system? The architect? The images that came from the memories of the monarch of shadows, of a war that had taken place thousands of years ago? The rulers who had disappeared? Everything seemed like a great mystery.
"Anyway, it is not my role to intervene in this, Severus Snape. But you are different. You have become the guardian of this world and you know that war will come. Humanity needs to know what is at stake. The laws of secrecy and the divisions between the magical and non-magical worlds are no longer valid at this moment. If humans and wizards do not unite, it will only lead to their own extinction. You know that very well," he said.
"We are going to have a serious conversation. A very serious conversation, after all this madness is over," Severus said, making the very street tremble before them, the veiled threat clear in his words.
Vujin merely opened a small smile, sad as it still was, but unconcerned with the threat.
"So it shall be. I will be eager to have this conversation with you. Anyway, let me take a few pictures," he said, beginning to fire flashes at the giant and at Severus before the prince could react, who could do nothing but stare.
Ignoring him, Severus turned his gaze back to the giant, while the flashes continued to increase.
"This will make for beautiful photos. I will release the newspaper before the final battle," Vujin spoke enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Severus walked to a higher area, positioning himself directly in front of the giant, about five hundred meters away. Something walked up to him shortly after: none other than Igris.
"So you are the first to arrive," Severus said simply.
Igris, unable to speak, merely maintained a serious expression within his iconic helmet.
Another explosion occurred on the other side, with an object falling from the sky at high speed and, shortly after, a figure emerging: an ant with wings.
"I came as soon as you ordered, my sovereign," said Beru, with a proud tone.
Severus nodded and turned his gaze back to the giant. Now, he would have to wait for the shadows to arrive.
Throughout the night, Severus continued advancing from city to city, gathering the people still alive and providing supplies and healing spells while they awaited rescue.
At the same time, his shadows — and he himself — defeated giants one by one. In total, forty-nine giants had been defeated up to that moment; only one was still out of reach, in the sea.
The newspapers created by Vujin continued circulating throughout England and even across the entire world, while other international and national newspapers of Great Britain tried to copy the news from the Pasquim.
There was nothing faster to transmit real information about the events than what Vujin was doing. Even radios connected directly to Japan's official channel, which received real-time news with the president and military forces on the line, were slower than the Pasquim at spreading information.
The president of Japan himself immediately requested that someone subscribe to the newspaper and bring each new edition created that night, being distributed every 20 or 30 minutes with updates.
The newspaper itself was not very in-depth, but it carried images and constant updates, with only one or two pages.
Both the magical world and the Muggle world were entirely focused on Severus's activities as never before. His image had never been so widely promoted as it was that night, thanks to Vujin.
People commented on Severus defeating monsters and saving lives. The shadows themselves, which caused fear in most of those who saw them for being creatures literally made of darkness, were there defeating monsters and saving people.
This made many begin to cheer for them. In some cities, when they appeared, people thanked the shadows themselves, unable to respond.
Some even became embarrassed, like Kargalgan, the giant orc shaman, who, despite his imposing image and many witnesses having seen him hurl flames and eliminate four giants that night, was now in a magical photograph, scratching his head, his face slightly flushed, while a crowd around him applauded and gave thanks.
Other images, such as Igris holding a child, or even Beru saving an elderly couple, the ants digging out people trapped beneath the rubble, while the shadow centaurs protected civilians from the giants — all of these images had been distributed in the updated pages.
Some people who believed that Severus Prince was merely a façade and that, in truth, he was evil, began to change their minds at that moment. Faced with those images, they saw a lone man saving an entire country, while no one else had managed to do the same.
Severus was now standing in Tokyo before the greatest challenge of that night so far, with his shadows gathering more and more behind him as they arrived.
All of Japan watched those forces advancing across the ground in their shadowy forms. All of them now followed a single direction, gathering for the final battle against the greatest of the giants.
This resulted in a special edition of the Pasquim at that moment, produced quickly by Vujin right there in the destroyed Tokyo, and passed on to all national and international subscribers.
If there were around three to four thousand wizards in Great Britain, only one hundred or two hundred had been subscribers to the Pasquim before that night. But now, all more than three thousand wizards had the newspaper in their hands, somehow.
In addition, there was an explosion of interest from more than thirty thousand people outside the country, whether heads of state or international wizarding families, interested in knowing how Severus Snape was handling Japan, while at the same time forming their own opinions about the powers he was demonstrating.
A man who could bring down a giant with a single punch, stronger than any other known living being, made many question whether he was still human. Not to mention his speed, which surpassed everything: in some images, he appeared using only daggers, massacring giants with extreme ease.
Obviously, reports about his past deeds began to circulate, and the world also began to learn what had been happening in Great Britain over the past nearly two years. Not to mention that they even unearthed Severus's past prior to his ascension.
It was not only his physical strength that drew attention, but also the army he could raise. A thousand shadows advanced under his command, massacring giants on their own without him needing to do anything more than release them as his personal army.
And there was also his magic. He could fly through the sky, teleport an entire city to another location, heal and conjure all kinds of spells that no one had ever seen. The magical world was astonished by unknown magic, not to mention the completely different way he used it: not with wands, but with a glowing staff.
No one had ever seen that staff. Wandmakers, and even some ancient and unorthodox artisans who produced other magical conduits, such as staves, were consulted — and none of them could say what that artifact was, that conduit of magic that Severus could materialize in his hand and make disappear at will.
But, amid all those questions, the battles against the giants and the rescues, Vujin made a point of distributing newspapers that also captured a bit of romance in the midst of all the chaos in Japan.
Severus met Rosária in a certain city some time after Igris found her, and images of a kiss between them began to circulate in the newspapers. Another fiancée who also appeared was Bellatrix Black, who joined the resistance of the wizards and surprised everyone.
She managed to injure the giants before the arrival of the shadows. Although she did not manage to kill any of them, she was able to cut and stun them with her own magic, making the world question what Severus had done to his fiancées, since they were able to injure those monsters when no one else could.
In Great Britain, Pandora looked at the newspaper with a smile, while her Muggle father watched everything in shock, not knowing what to say about his son-in-law.
The Greengrass family also watched Severus without sleeping, while Clarisse wondered if she should not be there helping her fiancé. She had also received the potions, just like all the other fiancées.
Her father questioned why Rosária and Bellatrix were able to face the giants, and Clarisse explained that Severus was distributing a potion to strengthen them, saying that it had properties related to mana — something that came from the portals. Perhaps that was why it gave them the necessary power to face those creatures. Mr. Greengrass nodded, thoughtful.
From that moment on, Severus's name rose to a global level greater than any other. Not even Dumbledore had achieved something similar.
Mr. Greengrass did not know whether he should feel proud that his daughter was marrying someone so notorious, capable of shaking all the foundations of this world that night and in the nights to come, or whether he should be worried. Too much attention was dangerous. Even he, who had formed an alliance with Severus to defeat Voldemort and the Death Eaters, had no idea that the boy would become what everyone was witnessing that night.
In the end, the Greengrass family had done nothing more than provide ingredients at a lower cost to Severus; Severus had done all the work in destroying Voldemort and even the pure-blood families with pure-blood ideology.
Now, there was too much attention even on his daughter, since Severus's actions reflected directly on her.
But when he looked at Clarisse, he saw a gleam of excitement and pride. She certainly loved her fiancé. If that was what she wanted, he would support her, along with the Greengrass family. Lucy, his wife, would also do everything to protect their daughter and support her.
In Cokeworth, Lily picked up the new newspaper and read it quickly. She had not slept, just like her parents.
[Severus Snape arrives at the battlefield in Tokyo. His shadows also begin to appear], the newspaper said, while the image showed Severus facing the giant from behind, like a figure taken from a legendary tale. The wind rippled through the image, and the city glowed in shades of red thanks to the sky dyed by the portal above the giant — a creature so colossal that it made houses and small buildings look like ants, compared to the destroyed skyscrapers behind him.
She knew that this image would echo throughout the entire history of the magical world. And now he was there. The scrawny little boy she had met in a park and who had once called her a witch was now carrying the weight of the world, facing the final boss of all that destruction that had brought an entire country to its knees.
Lily could not help but want to step outside for a moment, heading toward the door.
"Where are you going?" her mother asked.
"I need a bit of air. I'm not going beyond the yard," she replied.
"Just stay here at home. Don't go out there in the middle of the night," her father said, in a stern tone.
Lily nodded. She had no intention of leaving the yard. Even so, she stepped outside and looked up at the stars in the sky, sighing for a moment. Her thoughts went to her old friend.
She stayed there for a while and was already about to go back inside, expecting to see new newspapers and new updates, to know whether Severus had already begun to face the giant or not. However, she stopped when she noticed something in the sky.
Her eyes immediately turned to what had caught her attention. A small purple dot had appeared above the city of Cokeworth, almost seeming to be directly over her house. But it was not that. The purple dot began to grow larger and larger, and Lily froze. She could clearly see it by the way it stood out, shining in the middle of the night in that dark sky.
"What is that?" she murmured, in shock, trying to understand what she was seeing.
Her thoughts turned to where the center of that point might be, and she realized it was a few streets away from her house, more specifically in Spinner's End, at number 4 — the house where Severus Prince, or rather, Snape, had grown up.
Somehow, an energy in the sky began to emerge above the city, just like the portal in Tokyo. But, strangely, it seemed to originate from the central point of Severus's old house.
All Lily Evans could do was stare, stunned, as the glow of the purple portal began to form in the sky, reflecting in her emerald eyes.

Author here: I think I made a grotesque mistake, out of my own stupidity. I put Japan and Great Britain in nighttime hours, which makes no sense! I will have to fix this; Japan should be in daylight, since Severus left Great Britain during the nighttime period. I apologize for my mistake, see that the sky is daytime. This chapter will be fixed as well.
