Chapter 2 - The Tyranny Begins: Forkbeard's Rule.

The aftermath of the battle was a grim tapestry of suffering and ruin, but the true extent of the hardship was yet to unfold. The solemn toll of a bell resonated across the blood-drenched battlefield, its mournful echo signaling not merely the end of a battle but the ominous beginning of a new, darker era. Above the Sanctum, an enigmatic sigh unfurled across the sky, the word "GLORY" etched in ethereal letters as if a divine proclamation was being cast down upon the world below. The earth quivered beneath their feet, as if groaning in sorrow, while the heavens wept tears of anguish and despair. Amidst this tumultuous tableau, Forkbeard ascended to the throne, his rule commencing amidst the chaos and devastation that had consumed the land.

The Oppressive Treaty of Subjugation

In the wake of the Sanctum's capture, a treaty was hastily drafted—a document that promised peace but delivered chains. The newly crowned king, eager to consolidate his power and ensure the subjugation of the conquered clans, affixed his seal upon the treaty, binding his subjects to its oppressive terms.

On the surface, the treaty appeared to offer a semblance of peace. It granted those who wished to flee the island the freedom to do so and allowed for one-time entry to the land for those from the outside world who desired to come. However, beneath these superficial gestures of goodwill lay insidious clauses designed to enforce Forkbeard's dominion through economic and social oppression.

Hidden within the treaty were terms of excessive taxation and enslavement that would burden the conquered clans to the point of ruin. Each clan was obligated to provide a young girl from their guild as a slave every month, along with substantial quantities of wood, grains, and other resources.

This oppressive agreement disproportionately affected the newer and smaller clans, many of whom found themselves unable to meet the stringent demands. As the burdens of taxation and enslavement began to take their toll, these clans faced a grim reality: comply and survive, or resist and face annihilation.

Life Under the Iron Grip of King Forkbeard

The implementation of these draconian rules and the brutal enforcement of the treaty marked the beginning of a reign of tyranny and oppression. The once-proud clans were reduced to mere vassals, their dignity stripped away, their spirits crushed under the weight of Forkbeard's rule.

As the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, the people yearned for a glimmer of hope, a sign that their suffering would not be in vain. Yet, as the king's grip tightened and his demands grew ever more unreasonable, the prospect of rebellion seemed increasingly distant and perilous.

The city surrounding the Sanctum, once a vibrant hub of culture and commerce, now bore the scars of war and tyranny. The streets, once bustling with life, were now patrolled by Forkbeard's guards, instilling fear and enforcing his oppressive laws. The people lived in constant fear, their every move monitored and their freedoms restricted.

Despite the oppressive conditions, whispers of resistance began to spread. Secret meetings were held in the shadows, alliances were forged in the darkness, and plans were laid for the day when the people would rise against their oppressor.

Thus began a dark chapter in the history of the land, a time of oppression and despair, as the people struggled to endure under the rule of a king who seemed intent on ruling through fear and subjugation. But even in the darkest of times, the flame of hope refused to be extinguished, and the seeds of rebellion were quietly sown, waiting for the right moment to ignite.
