The central streets of Atlantis were considerably different from the districts Strax had passed through earlier.
The buildings grew larger and more elaborate as they approached the palace. Enormous white marble columns supported elevated walkways, while statues of marine creatures decorated plazas and coral gardens. Blue crystals illuminated the avenues, allowing the inhabitants to see perfectly even at that depth.
However, the damage caused by the calamity was still evident.
Some buildings were surrounded by improvised magical formations. Workers removed debris from the passageways, and several soldiers patrolled the area, assisting residents who needed to cross the most heavily damaged districts.
Strax observed everything attentively as he followed the woman escorting him.
"By the way, I don't think I've asked your name yet," he remarked, looking at her.
The woman seemed slightly surprised.
