Chapter 10 - Godspeed

Everyone was sceptical about their summons to the director's office. Goku was bored. Piccolo was annoyed. Naruto was curious yet grumbling, while Trunks was standing in attention.

But when the director explained to them about what Vegeta did, they had mixed feelings about it. Goku and Trunks could not find fault in what he did. Kakashi and Piccolo however could only sigh in disappointment, while Naruto was screaming. On the monitors before them, they have been following the events of Vegeta's AWOL up until this very moment.

It all started when Gita displayed their route in a go-pro like fashion, as they flew over mountains, valleys and rivers. "We picked up Vegeta's signature a moment ago." Gita said. "Any ideas on how to bring him back?" There was a hint of anxiety in his voice, and the video showed the other Namekians were visibly unsettled.

"Find him first, Gita. When you do, I'll do most of the talking." Gita and the other Namekians were relieved at what the director said.

Naruto's groan then grabbed Glover's attention. "I still can't believe he abandoned his post! I mean seriously, how good of a guy could this Vegeta be, if he leaves his comrades like that?!" Glover felt another headache come, and this one is going to be a pain. For all the times Naruto chose to voice his opinions, couldn't he have waited until later?

Lucky for him, it wasn't Glover who answered him. "With all due respect, Naruto, but my father isn't someone who just does things without a reason." Trunks said with a note of annoyance barely noticeable. He respects Naruto a lot, despite all his shortcomings as a captain of Team Gamma, but his blunt attitude to people and situations, especially to his father is something that he won't tolerate.

"Oh yes, there is a reason Trunks." Glover decided to step in. "According to Gita, he overheard Vegeta saying, and I quote: 'I'm a prince! Not some guard dog!' Before he took off." Glover said, without even looking away from the monitor. Trunks flinched. As much as he wanted to disagree with that statement, he knows that is something his father would absolutely say.

Piccolo couldn't help but feel a tinge of second-hand embarrassment, while Kakashi just looked Glover's back with a deadpan expression.

Naruto only got more annoyed. "Seriously!! Why would he do something like that?!"

Trunks wanted to jump in again, but this time someone else beat him by a few seconds. "He's probably bored." Goku's voice caught everyone's attention. "I mean, I know I would be if I just sat around some village and waited for someone strong to show up."

Everyone was surprised at Goku insight.

"Somehow I can't argue with that one." Piccolo muttered. Kakashi picked it up and turned his deadpanned expression to him. "Don't look at me like that!"

"Whatever the case may be, it is still important to find him and bring him back." Glover's voice went softer, as if he himself had some trouble believing what he was about to say. "Before the Venoms spring the trap."

Those words acted like ice cold water over a fire. The temperature immediately dropped to a dangerously low level, and it even made Naruto stop in his tracks, for a moment. "So, wait a minute, do you think they're up to something?" He asked.

The director sighed. "Logically, it makes sense to think so. Venoms have never done hit-n-run tactics before, instead they have always fought to the bitter end, even if the odds were stacked against them." Even if his reasoning sounded logical, Glover still had problems with it, as did most of the other occupants in the office.

Goku, however, only seemed to giggle. "Yeah, that's true. They always did that and that's what made it so fun."

Now Kakashi turned his deadpanned expression towards the back of Goku's spikey head. Trunks noticed it and felt his embarrassment flare up a little.

"But why would they suddenly change, now?" There was a note of annoyance in Naruto's tone. But that question, only seemed to make the gears in Kakashi's mind spin. It was both a good and bad question to ask, but at the same time it made truth so much easier to reveal itself.

"Maybe it wasn't sudden." Kakashi muttered.

Piccolo turned his to him. "What do you mean, Kakashi?" The question got everyone's attention and now they are all looking at him.

He didn't expect the whole class to look at him now, but he kept his composure. "It's just a hunch, but it's something I noticed back during Zac's first mission. The way Freddy was talking about the situation was odd. According to him, their position was being terrorized by only three Venoms for some time before Zac went on that mission. In the past, Venoms would have attacked head on."

"You're correct." Glover admitted. He already started feeling a new headache forming. "And according to multiple reports, it seems to be happening with many other heroes on their missions." Everyone felt uneased by that.

"Sir." Gita's voice came over the microphone, catching everyone's attention. "We found him, and he's not alone." Glover squinted his eyes, trying to focus on what he's trying to see, but the footage is too grainy and blurry. The people they're seeing look more like blurry snowmen on a green painting than anything else.

"Enhance picture quality." The monitor acted on Glover's authority and bettered the quality, immediately. Now they could make out the distinct body of Vegeta. A small but well-built man, with the signature spikey hair of the Saiyans, and dressed in his iconic blue, yellow and white, jumpsuit.

He's standing in a valley, nestled in between mountains, facing off against five Venoms, all dressed in inverted colours from their universes. Three wore inverted DBZ battle-armour, one wore a sailor outfit, and the last one, a ninja outfit.

As Gita, and his team got closer, the microphone on the camera picked up their voices. "So, this is where you were hiding?!" Vegeta's voice was clear through the speaker. "I wondered if there were anyone out here, who would give me a challenge, but I never expected them to scurry off like bugs!"

The Venoms chuckled in unison.

Everyone in the office thought it was odd. They saw how he became increasingly agitated by the Venoms, especially with their nonchalance. Instead, all five of them just looked at him and smirked. "Enough of the games, you cowards!! Stand your ground and face me!" Vegeta challenge echoed off the mountains. It carried far away through the cliffs.

However, it still didn't shake them. They all still stood there and said nothing. This behaviour even unnerved the director and the rest inside the office.

"I don't get it. Why aren't they attacking? They're just… waiting." Naruto asked on behalf of everyone.

"Good question." Trunks was also at a loss of words.

Vegeta shared their confusion, but only for a second. His hand clenched into a fist, ready to knock all their annoying smiles, from their faces. "I don't know what your game is, but this is the end for all of you!!" Vegeta said, his voice booming across the valley, as he unleashed his power.

The wind was nearly strong enough to send the whole group, flying away, but they dug in and held out, even though some of them had to buckle down. A smirk appeared on Vegeta's face, confident that this won't take long, but deep down he was still annoyed that this isn't even a fight.

Four of the Venoms seemed shocked about this level of power, but their eagerness to fight wasn't strong enough to override their orders. All except for one.

With a burst of speed, one bold Venom charged toward their adversary. Vegeta was happy to see this level of boldness, but it wasn't enough. He simply lifted his right knee up and the momentum of the Venom, carried him or more specifically his nose straight into it.

It felt like smashing into a brick wall, with one piece of a brick sticking out and with that, the Venom bounced backward on the grass.

But Vegeta wasn't going to let him get back up.

When the Venom got back on his feet, he saw Vegeta disappear in a flash and in a second, he was to his right with an attack ready. The kick that came from Vegeta, a roundhouse that blitzed so fast that it took the Venom a few seconds to realize that someone's shin was digging into his torso, was only enough to get the Venom into the air.

Then a fist met the Venom's jaw when he came within range, and he flew to his left, but that still wasn't the end of it. Vegeta then sent a blast from his left hand, which engulfed the entire area into an explosion. He looked at his work with a small smirk of satisfaction and then he turned his gaze to the four remaining. "Now, who's next?" Vegeta cockiness only seemed to rile them up.

The entire group watched as one of them disappeared within that blast, and they also saw only his cube remaining in the small crater. They weren't afraid however, instead their smirks returned to their faces.

This also further unnerved the others in the director's office. So much so, they kept their attention glued to the screen.

"What's with those damn smirks on your faces?!" Vegeta is basically fuming now. They weren't attacking, but they weren't retreating either. He didn't want to admit it out loud, but they were also starting to unnerve him.

"Maybe they just wanna enjoy the show." Suddenly an unknown voice came out of nowhere, followed by a sultry chuckle. "Is that so wrong?"

Vegeta whipped his head up the source and found her floating in the air. A beautiful woman of a striking, light greenish-blue appearance. Her outfit stood out the most, consisting of a shocking red leotard with gloves on her hands, that reached her forearms and red thigh-high boots. The only other feature about her that stood out even more was her large set of insect wings, protruding form her back, flapping to keep her in the air. "I know I did."

Everyone in the director's office stood there in stunned silence, until one managed to get his thoughts out into the world. "Wait, who's that?" Naruto asked, surprised by her sudden appearance.

"I don't know. Piccolo?" Kakashi asked, hoping that members from another universe would answer that question.

But Piccolo just shook his head. "I've never seen her before." Goku and Trunks nodded in agreement.

"Director?" Kakashi then turned his question to the director, who is staring the screen with this stoic look. He doesn't even react to Kakashi's question. "Director Glover?" Kakashi asked, a bit more forceful to get his attention, but even then the director didn't show any signs that he heard him.

Piccolo was about to shout before Glover cut him off. "Vegeta needs to get out of there." That statement shocked the whole room, but before anyone could say or ask anything, the director called out to the screen.

"Gita, hurry!!! Get him away from there!" Glover said. Most of the people in the room nearly jumped out of their skins when at the sound of his tone.

"Yes sir!" Gita and others said. He and the rest of the Namekian warriors moved toward Vegeta's position. In a blink of an eye, thuds echoed across the valley, as all the Namekians dashed and landed beside the Saiyan prince. The prince was taken aback.

"What are you doing here?!" Vegeta shouted. "Who told you to follow me?!"

"The director! We were ordered to take you back to the village!" Gita said before he focused his attention on the Venoms. "We'll handle them, while you go bac-" But Gita couldn't even finish that sentence.

"GO BACK?! Don't be ridiculous!!" Vegeta yelled. If he wasn't livid before, he sure is now. "Does the director really think that I can't handle these small fries?!!"

"No, listen the me!! The village is under attack! They lead you away so they can strike while you're away!!" Vegeta was now even more livid at the thought of being tricked like that.

Galena bristled underneath her elegant mask as the mention of that word, while the rest grumbled in indignation. However, Galena saw an opportunity.

She ordered all the Venoms to attack, with a wave of her hand and the four remaining Venoms carried out her orders, like they were attack dogs. They tackled and bashed into all the Namekians. One managed to surprise Gita with a flying side kick to the right side of his jaw, while the rest of the Namekians managed to evade and dodge their new opponents.

Vegeta didn't look surprised in the interruption, but he noticed Galena moving out of the corner of his eye. He whipped back to see her bringing the one cube back to her. It floated at a consistent speed through the air, before he stopped above her palm. It floated and spun slowly. Ominously slow.

"So, was this your plan? You lead me away so you can jump me here?! I don't know what's more insulting!" Vegeta was about to lunch at her, ready to end her there and then, but Galena suddenly moved first.

She blitzed him, faster than his eyes could follow her. By the time they did, it looked like she was already moving on the offence. He tried to block her attack, but he saw her placing the cube right in the middle of his chest before she blitzed away from him. Vegeta watched, stunned because she managed to bypass his defence with zero effort, from the looks of it, but his attention was taken back to the cube, floating right above his chest.

Then, it suddenly moved on its own, disappearing into Vegeta's body. He took a step back, before his body pulsed and he bended forward in pain.

Galena smirked, happy to see her plan has worked.

Gita was about to hit his opponent with roundhouse to the head, when the Venom pulled back all of a sudden, as did the rest. All the Namekians looked at them regrouping with Galena.

Confused, they looked at each other, trying to figure out what they're planning, but the sound of Vegeta caught all of their attention. They saw him stumbling back, clutching his chest, while radiated a dark aura.

The skin crawled, as an ice-cold shiver went down their spines. They didn't know what to do at the sight. The five warriors thought that Vegeta would prevail, like he always had. But that thought was crushed, when Vegeta suddenly stopped stumbling and a fiery, dark and red aura exploded from his frame.

It kicked up enough wind and dust to push the Namekians back and hurt their eyes. Gita covered his face, the best he could, but with the little he could see, he saw Vegeta turn around to look at them.

All five of them were shocked when Vegeta's blood red eyes looked at them. He looked like Vegeta, but at the same time those eyes didn't look like his.

"What's… going on?" Gita asked, and his communicator picked up.

The whole room looked at the situation with the same degree of shock as the Namekians on the ground. Piccolo and Goku felt it the most out of everyone, while Trunks shared it along with devastation. Kakashi and Naruto, had shock plastered all over their faces.

The director however, who also shared their shock at the situation, but showed it with a distant look in his irises.

"This is not good." Is all Kakashi could mutter.

"No, it isn't." The director commented. "Gita! Abandon the mission and get out there, right now!!" The director's voice came out the receiver like it would out of a loud boom box, affectively knocking some sense back into Gita.

"Fall back!! Retreat!!" Gita shouted to his comrades. "Get back to the village!!" The others were to move, but an energy blast cut that attempt short. It shot through one Namekian's torso, killing him on the spot.

Gita and others shot back to see who the culprit was, and to their shock, they saw Vegeta with his palm wide open, readying another blast. Thanks to Vegeta's malicious aura, and the red hue added to his yellow energy blast, Gita could see that something is wrong with him. Added with the sadistic smile on his face.

"Vegeta?! What have you done?!" Gita couldn't help but shout, as he helplessly wondered why their comrade was killed by another.

"Oh, don't blame him." Galena sensual voice grabbed his attention. "Stand down." Her voice took on a more commanding down, that actually made Vegeta lower his arm in submission, albeit begrudgingly.

Then it clicked for them. "What did you do to him?!" Gita asked again, but this time it was directed toward her.

"Oh, that's none of your concern. What is though, is the fact that everything will now go according to plan: the annihilation of Jump Force." For a brief moment her voice took a tone of madness, while her face showed a more soft or sultry look.

Gita reeled back in shock, before looking back to his three remaining comrades. "Alto. Pipa. Nokan. Hurry, get back to the village! Warn them!!"

The three warriors were taken aback because of that. "What? What about you?!" Pipa, the smallest of their group, asked.

Gita felt his legs shake, but what it was – anger, grief, apprehension. He couldn't say. But that didn't deter him from what he needs to do. "I'll hold them off. Buy you some time, to tell the others about this."

"Say what?!" Nokan, the largest of them, yelled out. "You're kidding?! You can't take them all on your own! Especially Vegeta!! That's suicide!" He looked at him incredulously.

"And what do you suggest?! We all stay and get killed?! Then nobody at the village will know what's coming!!" Gita fired back. Pipa and Alto, the lankiest, immediately caught on with what he was suggesting, but Nokan remained stubborn.

"Nokan, no matter what happens, even if only one of us remains, our people will survive! Hear me?!" Gita was hoping, no begging at this point for Nokan to listen, but the bulky Namekian remained bull-headed.

"No way! If anything, it should be me who-" But then a small, red energy beam pierced through his head, and he slumped to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Gita, Alto and Pipa froze in horror.

"I don't know about you, but it isn't wise to stand around during a fight. It takes too long." Galena's voice brought their attention back to her. Her finger stood outstretched and her voice held nothing but boredom. "I'd rather just destroy you all without any delay. Take them!!"

At her command, the Venoms started firing energy blasts at the Namekian's direction. Alto leaped into action and created an energy shield to surround them. Vegeta just stood there, arms crossed, wearing a sinister smile.

The blasts peppered against the shield, but the shield held on strong. However, cracks started to appear when the onslaught continued, and Gita noticed the strain on Alto's face. Soon, some shard started breaking off like shattered glass and the shield soon looked like a cracked window.

Gita, thinking quickly, grabbed Pipa. "Listen to me, you have to get back to the village and warn the others."

"No! I'm staying here!" Pipa shot back.

"That's an order Pipa!!" Gita quickly pulled rank. That did the trick, Pipa went quiet.

He looked at the shield that was ready to break any moment, but he also looked at the Venoms across the field. Sure, they made him nervous, but the one who really scared him was Vegeta. Pipa knows he can easily deal with one Venom, maybe even two, but Vegeta scared him long before he became what he is now and the thought of having to fight him scared him more.

In fact, he was happy to hear Gita ordering him to retreat, but he also felt ashamed. He's not just a Namekian, he's also a warrior. The thought of abandoning them makes his blood boil. "I don't have the right to leave you two behind." Pipa let out, while choking back a sob.

"Don't argue with me!!" Gita said it finality. "Just go, we'll buy you some time. We trust you, so trust us."

Pipa begrudgingly allowed his fear to take hold. He nodded, but still he gave a small glare to let his leader know that he is only following orders. Gita gave a small glaring smile, back at him. He knows how Pipa feels, but he's glad he accepted.

"ENOUGH!!" Galena's voice once again, cut through the valley and all the Venoms immediately stopped their volley. They saw the scowl on her face. "This is going nowhere. Get over there and kill them!!" The Venoms then shot forward, but Alto, although strained and tired from the previous attacks, was ready for them.

He concentrated enough, despite the looming threat, to turn the shattered shield back into Ki energy and have them gather in both of his palms. He fired two, full-powered blasts from his hands and struck two Venoms, sending them both flying back. Alto watched as the two Venoms turned into cubes, before they bounced and rolled across the grass.

The last two remaining Venoms, plus Galena could not believe the situation. Vegeta on the other hand, he didn't even look bothered.

Alto then fell down on one knee, but still, he has happy to see the results. "That was for Nokan and Cello!!" They were outnumbered before, but now there were two Venoms and three Namekians left. However, add in Galena and now Vegeta, and their victory was short lived.

Galena, annoyed by their defiance, growled. "Like flies – annoying until they're squashed." Despite the annoyed scowl, Galena got an idea that made her smile. "How about this: you two stand down and let Vegeta finish them off." The two Venoms didn't object, instead they also smiled at the idea, before they jumped back to her.

"You're up. Have some fun." Vegeta also showed a menacing smirk, before he slowly walked toward the Namekians.

"Pipa, go now!!" Gita shouted, and this time Pipa didn't question it. He powered up and shot up into the sky. The biggest reason for that is Vegeta's entrance.

Despite the fact that they are literally quaking in their boots, Gita and Alto stood their ground. They stared down that menacing smirk, with strained glares.

"Try not to die too quickly." That was all Vegeta said before he lunged at them faster than they could track. In the end, the last thing both Namekians could see, were two fists that smashed into their abdomens. It knocked the wind, spit, and blood out of both of them. Both warriors fell on the ground, unable to move because of the pain. Gita fell on his face, while Alto feel backward.

Gita was the only one still conscious, slightly. He looked at Vegeta's feet, as Glover's voice came through his earpiece. "Gita!! Come in!! What is happening?!" But he couldn't answer back.

However, Vegeta wasn't finished yet. He grabbed Gita by his antennae and lifted him up to his knees, so that they were face-to-face.

The camera picked up Vegeta's whole appearance, from his head to his chest. But the smile was gone, replaced by a glare. "I told you not to die too quickly! That was barely a warmup!"

Gita could only growl in defiance, which barely phased Vegeta at all.

Galena on the other hand, got even more impatient. "Vegeta!! Don't just stand there! Finish him off and then get that other one!!"

Gita's one open eye, widened in fear. He has to do something! Anything! But his body won't move.

Vegeta noticed Gita's struggle, with a look of disappointment across his face. However, just when Vegeta was about to throw him away, Gita managed to do one last thing: spit in his face.

Vegeta slowly wiped the large amount of spit off his cheek, with a look could kill. But then that same glaring smirk returned, before he charged up a ki-blast in his left hand. He aimed it at Gita's chest and fired.

Back in the director's office, everyone watched in shock, as the feed was violently cut short.

There is nothing but silence all throughout the director's office. Director Glover could not believe what he saw. In fact, nobody in the office could believe it. Neither Piccolo, nor Naruto or Trunks could believe their eyes. Kakashi kept a calm demeaner, but he's anxious after watching that and that demeaner was only a damn that barely held back a flood. Goku on the other hand is livid, but not much more than Trunks.

"This is worse than I thought." Glover was the first one to break the silence. "If Vegeta has joined the Venoms, then we no choice but to mobilize the whole base."

Both Kakashi and Naruto were shocked at that statement. "Wait, seriously?!" Naruto said.

"Vegeta was one of our most powerful fighters. That's why I had him stationed on Namek without reinforcements. So, yes, I believe it will require all of our strongest fighters… no all of us to stand a chance!" Glover said that, but even he was feeling insecure of that plan.

"Wait! Vegeta may've been a bad guy before, but he's not anymore. There's no way he'd join the Venoms!" Goku was the first one say something on Vegeta's behalf.

"That's right!! We all saw it! The Venoms must have done something to him!" Trunks followed suite.

However, Piccolo only stood and contemplated the whole scenario that played before him. Gita was moving around too much, so nobody could get a good look at what happened, but at the same time there was something distinct.

Director Glover was about to respond to Trunks and Goku before he was cut off.

"I think Trunks is right!" Now all eyes were on Piccolo. "Look, we don't know what really happened to Vegeta, but there was something that I noticed about his condition."

"And that is?" Kakashi asked.

"He looked just like a Venom." That statement managed to knock some sense into the whole room. Trunks and Goku looked hopeful, while Kakashi and Naruto felt a little relief at the situation.

"Of course!!" Glover said out loud. "If Vegeta was possessed by an Umbras cube that would be possible, and if that is possible then it stands to reason that the standard method would still apply." When that thought ran its course, the director's mood went blue again.

"However, in the end this is still Vegeta we're talking about. It will not be easy." Glover then went into thinking mode. After a brief moment of silence, the Glover finally got an idea. "But it's still worth a shot." Then he turned back to them.

"Goku, Piccolo and Naruto. You three are to join the battle on Namek and stop Vegeta. Kakashi, I have another mission for you and Team Gamma." Glover said his orders, and almost everyone agreed with it.

Kakashi nodded. "Yes sir."

"Wait!" Trunks caught everyone's attention. "If Piccolo is right about this, then I should go as well. Naruto, would it be okay if I accompanied Team Alpha on this mission?!" However, before Naruto could respond to the question, the director chimed in.

"No. The mission I have for Kakashi will need you and your power as well." Glover said, leaving no room for arguing.

Trunks clenched his fist and gnashed his teeth. But a second later, he stopped and turned to Naruto, when he spoke up. "Hey, wait a second! I think Trunks should go for it." He said with your arms folded.

Glover looked at him, incredulously before returning a more serious expression. "Why?"

"Look I know that I said a few things about him for abandoning his post like that, and from what I heard in the transmission, he sounds like real big jerk." While Naruto said that, Trunks, Piccolo and Goku looked at him, confusion etched all over their faces. Kakashi on the other hand looked at him with nothing but a deadpan gaze.

'Always saying what's on your mind, aren't you Naruto.' Kakashi thought. However, despite the looks he was receiving, Naruto kept going.

"He could be an even bigger jerk if I meet him either!" Now, the confusion is just growing. Piccolo looked at Kakashi for an answer, but he was ignored. 'Please, don't look at me like that!' Kakashi thought again.

"But all the same, Vegeta is still Trunks' father! He could be of some help against him, you know!!"

The confusion in the room then completely vanished. Everyone then looked to the director for his answer, but he was standing before them with, rubbing his chin, inquisitively. 'It is true. Trunks could be needed against Vegeta, but at the same time, his assistance with Kakashi is just as, if not more essential than against Vegeta.' Glover thought, as he mauled Naruto's words over in his mind.

As everyone waited, each person could see the benefit of having Trunks join, but in the end, they all knew that the director has the final say, so they waited anxiously.

"Hmm." Kakashi then got the director's attention.

"Is there something wrong, Kakashi?" Glover asked, now feeling annoyed at Kakashi's tricks, but at the same time curious about what he wants to say.

"Sorry. It's just, I think Trunks would be a better match with Team Alpha for this mission than with me." Trunks' eyes went wide. Since meeting Kakashi and Naruto on the base and getting to know them, he's been surprised over and over again. Not just with the power and skills, but also with the sense of comradery and tactical output, but to hear not just one, but both of them advocate for him makes this to be the umpteenth time he's been surprised.

However, the director still wasn't convinced. "If you know the details of the mission I have for you, then you wouldn't be saying that." The atmosphere in the room suddenly got a few degrees colder. Even Goku and Piccolo felt uncomfortable, with change in mood.

"Maybe, after all knowing your objective is essential for a ninja, but knowing your enemy is even more vital for any mission and that information would be most vital being in the hands of those who are about to fight that enemy. Trunks knows this opponent, along with Goku and Piccolo. If it's as difficult as you say, then they'll need all the help they can get. And don't worry about me, it's expected for every shinobi to be flexible." Kakashi said.

It also surprised Piccolo to hear him say that.

Goku on the other hand, was anxious to get going. "So, are we all going or what?!" Director then gave him a look that could melt ice, but Goku wasn't affected. In fact, he didn't notice it. "I mean, Trunks can take on Vegeta. He's grown stronger since coming here and that be useful couldn't it?"

That child-like question seemed to do the trick. Director Glover sighed before clamping the bridge of his nose, from underneath his glasses. "Alright fine! It's settled. The four of you will join the fight on Namek." He declared.

Trunks was happy. "Thank you, sir! I promise you won't regret this!" Trunks said while bowing.

"It's not your mission that I'm worried about." Glover then turned to Kakashi. "I hope you'll be able to keep your word Kakashi, because the second I tell you your mission, you might regret those words." Glover tone was ice cold. As much as he respects Kakashi for his tactical input, it also gets on his nerves.

"Oh? I think we'll be fine. Besides Gamma has many more members last I checked, and all of them would be a perfect replacement for Trunks in this mission." Kakashi added.

Glover sighed again. "You have a point." Glover marched to his table and typed away. "Head through that door, and you'll appear in the village's centre. Your orders are as follows: clear out the Venoms, help the wounded and lastly, defeat Vegeta. At any cost." He pointed to the door to his right, right next to the furthest screen.

Piccolo and Trunks nodded, while Naruto threw a thumbs up. "Alright guys, let's go!!" Goku cheered before he ran toward the door.

"Hey, old man Goku, wait up!!" Naruto was the first to run after him.

Piccolo and Trunks walked behind them, until all four stood in front of the door. "Come on, you two! Can you be any slower?!" Goku whined.

"Not all of us are thrilled about a fight, Goku." Piccolo retorted.

"Huh, but you used to like fighting all the time!" Goku looked at Piccolo, in confusion.

"That's in the past!" Piccolo fired back in annoyance.

"Godspeed gentlemen!" Glover then pushed another button to open the large metallic doors. It revealed a bright light, but funny enough it didn't hurt their eyes at all.

All four then walked in unison into the door and disappeared in the bright entrance. Glover looked back to the screens. "Godspeed indeed." He muttered one last time, staring at the screens with a hard stare.

Kakashi also stared at the screens along with the director, but he only stared because he was in deep thought. 'I know I said we will adapt, however, I can't help noticing that the director specifically wanted Trunks for this mission for Team Gamma, despite being better fitted for the battle on Namek. It begs the question, why does he need a powerhouse for this one? Team Gamma does have strong fighters, but they do not make up the bulk of our team, since our main focus is espionage and information gathering.' Kakashi then took one breath into his nose and let out a long sigh.

'I guess it doesn't matter now. In the end, we'll no choice but to adapt.' Kakashi placed his hands in his pockets and walked up next to director.

"Our mission, sir?" Kakashi asked, getting the director's attention away from the screens.

"Yes."

However, as both discussed their mission parameters and objectives, both men couldn't but feel a pit forming in their guts, but they had faith in their comrades and subordinates.

No matter how shaky that faith feels now.
