Draco and I went up to our rooms in the castle, changing clothes into something a bit less formal for a few hours by the beach. Draco tried to put on swimwear that looked like it was from the early 1900's traditional wizarding swimwear, he said, but I just gave him a pair of regular trunks, my clothes. It made him mumble a bit, but I think he liked the design of the pair I gave him more and didn't put up a fuss.
As we walk the vast staircase from the back of the castle, a picnic basket starts to follow us, though magical families had binding magical contracts with house elves since the time of Merlin, House elves lived off the abient magic of their wizards and witches, Merlin was said to be too powerful a wizard for a house elf to bind its self to serve him because of the purity of his magic any house elf that tried to live of it would explode. So Myrddin Castle had a different type of staff.
Merlin had drawn inspiration from the ghosts and poltergeists of his time period, creating something akin to a poltergeist golem to serve the castle. Ghosts were shades of people who died, but poltergeists were things that were never living, such as Peeves from Hogwarts. He is more of a concept, a physical representation of the prankster spirit, of thousands of mischievous little wizards brought to life with the ambient mana those young magical users naturally produce. Based on Merlin's understanding of Poltergeists, he made a new type of Golem.
In that time period of Merlin, Golems, among powerful wizards and witches, were kind of common. You can still find them hidden in castles of ancient wizards and old tombs all over the world as a curse breaker.
They are one of the most dangerous things to find as a Curse breaker because, unlike deadly curses and charms, they slowly gain more and more ambient mana, making the older ones harder to deal with, especially if they are left with last orders like protect the tomb of their master.
Golem creation was considered to be a lost art of magic. There were a few Powerful families that were said to have hoarded the secrets of this type of magic, but those claims were unsubstantiated, as no one had produced a new golem in 300 or so years. There are two types of Golems, the first and most common and basic of which is the standard stone knight and gargoyle type. Not that dangerous if you were careful. Usually, they are autonomous, but can only follow simple commands( think of the chess pieces from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), so a skilled runesmith can control them pretty easily. These types of Golems can even be imitated through modern puppetry magic, but you would have to expend your own magic to control the statues, and they can't act autonomously.
The Second type, the rarest and most dangerous ones, were those made with a transfiguration spell in its runic center. They are usually made by ancient wizards who have reached at least the minimum of grandmaster level in that type of magic. The spell would give limited ability to create and manipulate a specific substance so that they could fix themselves by transfiguring more of the specific substance, so Mud golems fix themselves with mud. Plus, because they are made by a wizard powerful enough to inscribe such a powerful runic enchantment, they have a greater capacity for complex thought.
Expert rune smiths can change runic orders in these types of golems to make someone else its master if they can access the core, but holding a golem down to interact with its core is difficult, to say the least. Usually, the attempt is either the death of the runesmith or, on rare occasions, the destruction of the golem.
Though there have been attempts to bring it back, and one of those attempts brought a brand of the previously mentioned puppetry magic to the world that was a pretty close imitation. Many had hunted for the secrets but were ultimately unsuccessful. One of the benefits of being the leader of a Faction is the ability to command the Myrrdin castle Poltergeist golems. While the Golems can't be ordered around by the mass public, they do their best to cater to all residents of the castle. Food, when needed, finds its way to hungry guests' rooms, and messes always find themselves cleaned.
While house elves are good, the golems, to say the least, of the poltergeist Golems have them beat in a few ways. For one, if it's an emergency, house elves derive their power from you, say, if someone gets the drop on you knocked you out the house elf would not be able to help you as they would be cut off from their magic source now there are exceptions such as house elves tied to a magical place with ley lines but that usually made the house elf much weaker Plus unless they are tied to major ley lines such as hogwarts and/ or the ministry of magic their movements would be restricted.
The Poltergeist Golems, on the other hand, were different from even the most advanced golems found all over the world, for three reasons:
The first reason was that their intelligence was basically at the level of a magical AI, and the fact that they needed no magic from the controller. Like most Rare Golems, they can act independently of the wizard and protect them in the event they are caught off guard. Still, the intelligence aspect is beyond anything the world has ever seen, such as administering first aid without prompting at the first sign of injury. While most rare types can act independently of their master, they usually need both the user's magic and a direct order to attack, while there are golems that are smart enough to understand the concepts of defending and to make choices to accomplish the orders they were given.
The Poltergeist Golem could prioritize specific directives that supersede direct orders, such as if a wizard gets possessed by a cursed object and, in his last second of sanity, manages to order his golem to save him, the rare type of golem, even the smartest one, would most likely just kill the wizard because that would be the simplest way to save him from the posession. So, as the master of a rare type of golem, you have to be very careful about giving orders that can be interpreted negatively.
The Second reason was one of the most powerful mana amplification charms in existence, made by Merlin. A tiny bit of mana was enough for a golem to run for a full week on the amount of magic of a simple levitating charm, with the ley lines on the isle of the Veritas council, even thousands of golems running at all times, the mana cost would be negligible. Even rare golems The reason they were dangeous is because they had been absorbing ambient magic the more they use up their mana suplly the worse slower they move the slower they can regenerate even the oldest of rare golems could only stay active up to 2-3 hours before shuting down to rebuild mana and if the extended all their energy they could shut down for years at a time but the poltergeist they could run up to 16 hours at a time and recover in 8 hour time period by absorbing light and magic from the ley lines giving them a sleep schedule similar to humans.
The Third reason was that Merlin had used the concepts of Polltergeist to create them, unlike the Rare type that usually made mud of mud or clay, the substance they produced and controlled was a hard light, illusory structure made from pure light magic mana, which also that their appearance was fully customizable including dismissing said construct to intangible and bending light to become invisible.
Currently, the Golems were set to look like butlers and maids. Though when not doing a task or interacting with guests, they would disable the hard light generated forms and be just a flying, floating stone. The only true flaws was that their core was quite vulnerable but still if you wanted to destroy one you'd have to first catch the golem of guard since they could condense hard light around its core to protect itself and you have to have the ability to locate the core and that was extra difficult as they could turn it invisible.
Though I knew that there were definetly a few people in the world overpowered enough to kill these overpowered golems, Most of the one powerful enough to are on The Veritas Council and since the golems served them there were almost never any problems but over the years with such powerful people there is always one group or another that wants to try to take over through force, every single force that has ever standed against them has fallen a few famously powerful through history have managed to kill a few before being overwhelmed imagine fighting an army of logia users with a green latern ring that could fight with out needing to sleep eat or rest for 16 hours straight and even then would just swap places with a new batch fresh to kill you.
Even though they served the Veritas council everymemberwho knew their history treated them with wary respect for their intelligence and their power pllus they were recognized as a part of Merlin's legacy. There was only one man who ever killed a poltergeist Golem and wasn't killed soon after, Grindelwald when he first started his campaign to destroy the veritas Council.
I stop thinking so deeply as we walk down the stairs to the beach, I turn toward the floating stone a ghost hand carrying the picnic basket.
"Thank you we appreciate the food," I tell the floating core."it's good to see you Annie."
I Say as reach for the basket. The air shimmers and a young woman's shape 14 or 15 years old who looked exactly lik Natalie Alyn Lind. I instantly recognize her from the year before. As I said before the Faction heads can control the Poltergeist Golem's knowning that in a few years I would most likely succeed My mother a few of them had been hedging their bets making sure I was treated extremely well during my time at the castle to curry favor for later even assigning this specific Golem who I was told was named Annie.
I don't think it was a honey trap per se more like buildinga connection through a childhood friendship. While yes all the Poltergeist Golem Core's were made a long time only a thousand of the core's around 5,000 cores that could be activated to protect the world in a truly catestrophic even that would require a 90 percent agreement of the council to approve.
"You know most kids at least flinch when a ghostly figure randomly," The new Arrival says in a joking tone," at least you still have your manners,"
"We'll I did expect you would be dropping by," I Say. " honestly, I was getting a bit worried I was even considering how to trick Draco to go out looking for you,"
"As if i'd do that again," Draco chimes in a tone of faux anger. A Smirk apprearing on my face. I had in the past tricked draco into acting in my stead no less then 6 times in the last two years.
"Promises, Promises Dear cousin," I say to him with a wide smirk that makes him huff.
"Well you know me, I'm only a whisper away for my favorite Heir in despair" Annie says while rubbing my head like a littel brother." is it just me or have you gotten taller soon you'll be able to get on all the rides at one of those muggle amusement parks the secular faction heirs speak of."
The adult part of me didn't really like being treated like a kid and In a moment of impulse I use my metamorphic magic to increase my height to meet her eye to eye.
"How about now," I say with a smirk looking down at her by a few inches. It made her pause for a moment to reasses. I had show that I was a prodigy but showing off a bloodline talent like that I could her impression of me go up a notch.
"SINCE WHEN COULD YOU DO THAT," Draco practically screams. It forces the smile on my face to grow wider.
"Don't worry my dear cousin just been investing time in my metamorphic magic is this past year our Family's Talent don't you know," I say."I'm sorry to say you will have to be the shorter cousin for just a bit longer," He gave out a disgruntled huff and I let out a chuckle.
"Look at it this way think of all the things you can get away with me with this talent now no asking a parents permission when we are alone in london or even Diagon ally" I say to cheer him up it does the trick as he contemplates on it his face spliting thinking of all the times his parents have denied him.

"Impressive your mother must be very proud to have such an excellent genius for a son but such a mischevious one, your going to cause a lot trouble," Annie flattered without an ounce of shame."now as much as i'd love to keep you all to myself I believe you are on a bit of a tight schedule so many heirs too impress with your new fancy toy."
That is what I love about Annie if I wasn't completely sure no one had gotten around my oclumency or the protections of the black ring I would think she was reading my mind. I had only 3 hours before we would have to make it back to our rooms to get ready for the ball And I needed to make an appearance with the dark heirs alligned with house plack the few secular Family heirs with ongoing deals and even a few of the Illuminati Heirs such as the bones heir.
The Picnic basket Annie had prepared was filled with the makings of a decent tea set up and scones so that I could make a positive impression.
"So who are we off to see first," She said with a smile.
"Well first our Dominion awaits," I Say heading off a long the beach heading in the direction of a row of tables in shade of several beach umbrellas where several heirs of the dominon were mingling.
