Chapter 21 - Face-off

Ava was so surprised at what she just discovered, she thought advancing to another level usually took a long time. Guess she it wasn't like that after-all.

And then she remembered her dream. Aaron's salty blue liquid still tasted fresh in her mouth and she still felt like all her senses were being hyper-activated. Did this sudden levelling somehow relate to the bonus liquid?

"Wow! Prince Neville must be such a great teacher to make you level up in such a short while" Annabelle said excitedly.

"I…Guess…" Ava's voice trailed off as she didn't know what to say. Her mind was still adjusting to the new development.

"I really have to tell this to Rosslyn and Princess Aurora. This calls for a celebration if not for the awfully busy day today is. Princess Aurora's engagement is in two days and there still remains a lot to do."

"Well, it's just levelling up. Not something big" Ava said instantly, she wasn't in anyway ready for elaborate dressing and all that finery today.

She watched as Annabelle left the room and her body began to brew with sudden excitement.

She wanted to know what she could do with this power she was feeling in her veins. She had been levitating earlier, did that mean she could fly?

Ava quickly came down from her bed and looked around in case anyone else was coming in. And then she straightened up and jumped up expecting that she was going to levitate or perhaps even fly high!

But nothing happened.

She jumped a couple of times more even higher. But she still came down to the ground, how did this magic thing work anyway?

"Lady Ava" Rosslyn's cheerful voice rang out from the door as it opened, Annabelle followed behind.

"Oh, it's you" Ava sighed in relief as she was initially frightened by the sudden barging.

"Yes, My Lady, Annabelle just revealed to me that you have reached level two. Im so surprised" she replied.

"O…kay?" Ava nodded. "So…What can I do with level two magic?" she asked enthusiastically.

"Well" Annabelle started. "Just discover, My lady"

......

"Wait…What did you just say?" Neville looked at Lucas in disbelief as he explained what he had earlier said.

"She advanced to level two? But… that's impossible" Neville thought to himself. Moving to another level normally took months and even sometimes years to accomplish.

"I must really commend your training skills Your Majesty" Lucas complemented.

Neville smirked, if this was going to bring him more praise then he liked it. He was just going to find out himself how Ava had managed to achieve this feat.

........

The day was bubbling with different people going up and down effortlessly making the king wishes come to pass. He wanted the engagement to be perfect.

Ava, completely dressed walked happily down the passageway watching all the servants go walk to and fro. She was completely oblivious off the fact that the news had spread round the whole palace that Ava had levelled to level two in a short period. The servants that she was passing by were all whispering and gossiping about the whole thing.

Ava really wanted to help, she loved today's liveliness. She stopped in front of one of the maids and demanded to collect the bowl of flower petals.

"But my lady, it's not your job" The maid had replied reluctant to give her. "You could supervise the arrangements along with Princess Amelia over there. I think she'll need some help" She pointed to a far side of the garden where Amelia stood along with many servants who decorated the fountain.

Ava looked at her and remembered their last encounter. She wasn't really in the mood for her trouble but she wasn't going to run away from her. Besides, she just wanted to help.

"Okay then, thanks" She said to the maid who smiled and trotted away quickly.

Ava walked to the garden impressed by the work that had been done so far. She looked at the servants as they worked, trying to show no sign of fatigue even when they were obviously tired. Amelia was busy bossing them around, she yelled at them angrily at every little mistake they had made as they struggled to do it to perfection.

Princess Amelia stood in front of two servants who were trying to arrange flowers on the fountain. Amelia complained that the water was flowing and wasting all the beautiful flowers, creating a mess. Yet she kept ordering them to rearrange the flowers and blamed them for not fixing them properly.

"You all are so useless!" Amelia yelled "Why is it so difficult to put these flowers there without them falling out?"

Ava watched her from behind and a simple idea popped in her mind.

"Um…" Ava walked forward "I think it'll be better to tie the flowers together to form a kind of chain, it'll be easier to wrap them round the fountain and even give them a fancier look"

Ava looked at all the wasted flowers that had littered the floor.

"You could also use those wet flowers round the floor of the fountain. Just to give it a little colour and we'll avoid wasting them too." She turned to Princess Amelia "Or what do you think?"

Amelia shot her a daring glare. How dare she take over her job of supervising the garden decorations. She looked away and turned to the servants ignoring Ava's presence. Even if she knew her suggestion was far more reasonable.

"Didn't you dimwits hear that?! Make the flowers into a chain and tidy up these wet ones at once" She screamed, annoyed at the fact that she had to take Ava's suggestion.

Ava was about to walk away from her side when she said.

"Hey you! Who do you think you are to supervise them? Do you think you're any less than these lowly maids?"

Ava paused and turned back, her face turning stone cold "I know Im not a royal, but that doesn't give you any right to speak to me like that"

Princess Amelia raised a brow, shocked at the response she was given. This privileged outcast was really growing wings.

"Let me tell you something, because you've progressed to level two doesn't give you any edge over me, I am still the princess here and you're are just a useless piece of trash"

The servants were already looking at the two of them. It seemed there was going to be a kind of argument between the two.

"Oh really" Ava laughed "or you're just jealous because Im progressing and you're not"

Amelia's face darkened, Ava had just pricked her on the spot that hurt her the most.
