Chapter 1 - Chapter 0

Reality can actually be quite ironic if you think about it. It has its name because it is real and true. But soon enough, the concepts of what is true and what is false cross paths and form a world of both realism and fiction.

It's fictional because the monsters that suddenly erupted should not exist in this world, and real because one can never deny the casualties and trauma that these monsters have brought in their wake.

Life was good, life was simple, and life was boring. That is, of course, until 300 years ago. The day that humanity will forever dub "The Red Friday."

It was like any other day on boring old Earth. Black Friday, to be exact. And as usual, people went about their days thinking about the bargains they could find during the period of discounts.

A man in his late fifties, who was dressed like a doctor, had acquired all the electronics he needed to fix his busted centrifuge and now headed for the cashier to check out and enjoy the rest of his afternoon, but was met by life's right-hand man, "Death".

The man reached the cashier and was about to pay when the cashier suddenly slumped and fell. Being the Good Samaritan he was, the middle-aged man rushed to help the fallen worker.

The worker foamed at the mouth, spasmed on the floor, and slowly lost his color as his eyes lost their light. Then all of a sudden, he stopped moving completely.

The middle-aged man performed CPR to resuscitate the worker, but his efforts bore no fruit as the worker remained unresponsive.

After checking the worker's pulse with his fingers, he lay his head on the worker's chest, hoping to hear his heart beat, but was met with silence.

The man slowly got up, about to declare the worker dead, but before he could, his hand was held tightly by the collapsed cashier, signifying that he was still alive.

The middle-aged man heaved a sigh of relief, slightly smiling as he assumed the worker survived.

Suddenly, the middle-aged man's hand was gripped more tightly. He tried to get out of the grip but couldn't. He tried and tried, but the grip simply got tighter, like he was being held by a machine and not a human.

The worker then slowly got up, dragging the man up with him as he rose. The man looked into his eyes, but could only feel fear as he pleaded with the worker to let go of him, but this did nothing as the worker pounced on him, taking a huge bite out of the man's muscular neck.

Blood splashed all over the counter and the cashier's computer. The worker slowly ripped the old man apart, drowning his screams and cries for help in the sound of his own body being severed.

All the people within the supermarket panicked, trying to get out of this situation, but as they opened the doors, there were only more terrifying sights of countless dead bodies feasting on the corpses of dead people.

For as far as the eyes could see, people ran and fell, being attacked by these undead horrors. Those who fell eventually rose again just to repeat the cycle of killing.

The people inside the store were dazed, unable to move or think about running. One of them let out a scream, unable to handle the fear that came with the situation.

This scream was their undoing. Within seconds, all the undead sprinted towards the complex, each one aiming for only the humans. Killing them and feasting on their flesh.

Sirens rang in the air as smoke filled the skies and blood paved the roads. A day of joy turned into a day of human reckoning, The Red Friday.

…..

Life really is fucked up if you think about it. Who would have thought that humanity would be overtaken by a freaking virus.

Well, as you already know, it all started about three hundred years ago. The day that mankind will always remember as Red Friday.

Most people would think that the idea of a zombie apocalypse would forever remain a fictional theme, but little did they know, it would all become a reality.

At first, it seemed to be an average afternoon in the world as the news started to broadcast cases of humans eating humans, and before you knew it, the virus had already spread from the southern regions of Africa to the entire world. In just fifty days, the infection had spread worldwide, and about 80% of the world's population was already infected.

The sounds of bullets didn't cease, and bombs rained all over the world as the military tried to contain the spread of the virus, but alas, all their efforts were futile. For some reason, the undead were seemingly bulletproof, with even nuclear bombs unable to phase them.

To avoid extinction, the remaining 20% of the population erected walls that covered the land mass of a small country all around the world, about 2-5 fortresses in each continent, to be exact.

As the years went by, some of the zombies that seemed to be more compatible with the virus began to mutate, creating even more dangerous and grotesque beings; some even obtained power beyond human reason.

This brings us to the present day. Three hundred years later, humanity finally has a fighting chance against the undead in the form of super soldiers that have the ability to kill the undead monsters known as the Drauga.

This is the tale of humanity's last chance of survival and the latest branch of the military.

This is the tale of the "GUD (Grateful Un-Dead)" corps.
