In an instant the rumbling menace of the flashes of lightning was seen through the windows of the infirmary in which Nesta was busily napping. Due to the pungent smell of rotten egg and burning sulphur, everybody within the infirmary had started panicking nonstop.
"Check the electrical gadgets!"
One of the nurses who was on high alert shouted to everyone's hearing. Those who were in the infirmary had gotten to work quickly to identify what was producing the foul stench.
"HELP ME!"
The scream echoed throughout the place. Everybody tried their best to determine where the sound had emanated from but to their dismay the scream stopped abruptly as it had started. Rushing and panicking, footsteps were heard as everyone made their way towards the exit while leaving Nesta who was currently unconscious behind.
The hopes of getting out of the infirmary was cut short as a menacing howl resounded throughout the place. The power behind the howl shook the entire room causing those who were running to fall to their knees. While those who had been stunned by it were slowly recovering, some of the nurses had also moved out of the place.
Once they were out though they came to a shocking realisation that staying in the infirmary was much better than heading outside. The gruesome scene which unfolded in front of them left a couple them dumbfounded. The entire hallway which was once filled with the scent of pharmaceuticals was now filled with the metallic scent of blood. Battered and mutilated bodies of students, teachers and nurses were scattered all over the hallway. The walls which were once white and beautiful were now stained crimson red with blood.
In the midst of all the bodies, the sound of something hungrily munching on the bodies was heard loud and clear. The troubled nurses stood in awe as a tall creature with an elongated snout stood up on its hind limbs. It's eerie blue eyes glistened while its pointed ears twitched slightly. It's huge mouth opened up to show a set of sharp teeth which reflected the lights which were in the hallway.
"More humans. That means more free food!" it spoke out loud through growls which were definitely otherworldly.
"Please leave me alone. You can have the others but please spare my life" one of the the nurses pleaded in tears while going down on her knees. Slowly the rest of the nurses turned their heads to look at their betrayer in shock. In spite of the tricky situation they were all in no one expected that one of them was ready to do such a thing.
"Fuck you Vanessa! How could you..." one of them shouted without regret and almost threw out a punch towards Vanessa. She was sitting on the ground with her head hidden in between her knees--a sign to show how stupid she felt at the moment.
Before the punch could land though, a painful shriek was heard as the woman's body was severed in half. Blood was spilled everywhere as the two halves flung towards the walls of the hallway due to the ferocity of the strike.
Vanessa cried out when remnants of what was left of the dead woman splattered on her. From the bit and pieces of internal organs to the severed chunks of flesh which either bounced of her skin like balloons or got stuck to it as lf an adhesive had been applied were now all over her body. Opening her eyes to take in what had happened became an ordeal as she debated internally whether she was ready for what she was going to see.
Several cries of agony went off all around her blood soaked body which was still trying to recover from the shock and trauma it was experiencing. Some of the cries slowly became muffled as whatever was producing them was silenced without hesitation.
Minutes passed and Vanessa could no longer hear the sounds of what was going on around her. She opened her eyes slowly while expecting the worst scenario possible to occur. To her surprise though nothing happened which made her a bit distressed. Due to the metallic scent of blood, she couldn't sense the foul stench of the mouth of the monstrosity which was standing around 250 metres approximately from the ground. She tried to move forward but unfortunately her head banged into the chiseled abdomen of the unknown figure. Vanessa gulped up saliva while trying her best to make out what she was witnessing. Through the thick volumes of blood gliding down her eyes she could finally make out the characteristics of the monster in front of her.
Its long arms which were heaving up and down as a result of its rhythmic breathing. The long snout which protruded from the base of its jaw and elongated with its mouth caused the hairs at the back of her neck to stand on edge. What occurred next had left her incapacitated and barely hanging on to life.
The horrific figure sniffed the air a couple of times as if it was pretending that the human in front of it was somehow invisible. When she had decided to keep her guard down though, it had slowly brought it's height down a bit, just enough for both of their eyes to meet. The deep blue eyes of the monster stared right into hers as if it was penetrating right through her soul and whatever was there under it.
The menacing aura of the monster tore through all her resistance to remain sane. With nothing to hold on to the sanity which was slipping away at an astonishing rate which she couldn't make out herself, she bolted towards the room from which she had exited with the deceased nurses. Her fervent hope of getting out of this awkward situation was cut short when something quickly grabbed on to her hair and slammed effortlessly into the wall—knocking her out cold with blood rushing down her nose.
The monster slowly dropped Vanessa's body to the ground allowing it to add up to the corpses that were mutilated beneath its paws. It slowly sniffed its surroundings as if trying to capture the faint scent of something lingering in the air.
"You are definitely special young one. Why do you smell like one of us?" It asked with a deep otherworldly voice which emanated from its throat. Out of curiosity, it picked up the body on the unconscious girl and gently tossed it onto its shoulder.

Argggh!
The sound came out as a mere moan when Nesta tried his best to open his eyes which apparently weighed more than a bag of cement. His eyes which were opening slowly suddenly opened wide when his nose picked up a scent which he was familiar with.
"Blood! What happened here? Where are the rest?"he asked himself and sluggishly descended from the top of the bed. He zeroed his eyes around the corners of the infirmary which was now as silent as a cemetery.
"Everything seems alright within this room. I'm I hesitating for no reason? Are they playing a prank on me?"
The questions flooded his mind as anxiety did its best to kick in and do its worst. Taking one step at a time, he cautiously treaded towards the curtains which covered the makeshift room. These rooms were created by joining together several curtains seamlessly to form a box-like compartments in which patients are kept for healthcare. Nesta's hand fumbled when he came closer to the bridge separating him from the rest of the infirmary. Several images played in his head—depicting the kind of gruesome scenes he was expecting to see. Slowly but steadily, his hand crept up to a slit which served as the meeting point of two curtains and he applied less effort to push them ajar.
Bile and vomit got stuck in his throat as the ghastly sight unfolded in front of his sapless eyes. His brain lagged a little bit when it started to process what was going on. Nesta clenched his fist in an attempt to slow down his thought process which was off the hook at the moment.
"Did Jake do all of this because of what I told him? How can he be this cruel?"
He was about to enter into a trance when the eerie sound of something munching had caught his attention. With the wrong assumption in mind, he dashed towards the sound thinking he was going see Jake performing another heinous act. He did this without even caring for his own safety which could be in jeopardy at any moment from then. Getting closer to the sound he shouted at the top of his voice the name of the one whom he thought was responsible for this mess.
Taking a sharp turn throughout the infirmary, he tried his best to hop over all the bodies which were littered on the floor like dolls. "I won't run away any more Jake. I will let you pay for whatever atrocity you have committed " he said with an unshakable resolve as his fist tightened.
Nesta readied his fist to deal damage upon reaching where the sound had emanated from but to his dismay though, there was no human in sight. The munching sound stopped abruptly and a slick chuckle that shook his bones echoed throughout the place. Two blue eyes with a sinister glow in them stared back at him.
"Nice to meet you little one. Care to feast with me?"a deep voice resounded after the chuckle.
"What's on the menu?" Nesta asked politely while unclenching his fist deliberately.
"Opps, It's you",the voice answered and afterwards released a powerful howl which tore through the ambience like a plague.
