Chapter 313 - Mission Complete

Chapter 313 Mission Complete

Brian extended his hand to shake hands with the lord. "I am Brian, the provisional leader of this party," he introduced himself. The lord accepted the handshake and replied, "I am Jeremy Vanhollow, the lord of this estate, and I believe we have come to an agreement on this provisional pact," Jeremy declared.

Some time after his declaration, the guards returned with the rewards he promised. They placed a bag filled with gold and silver coins on the ground and then left to watch over the young lady. Jeremy then departed with the maid, the guards, and his daughter, leaving the bag of coins unattended. Brian examined the bag for any identifying features that could indicate if a noble owned it. After discovering a crest, he decided to transfer the contents into one of the party members' bags to avoid any risk.

As he transferred the coins, he counted them. When there were no more left to count, he grinned and announced, "Our job here is complete. We should head back now. I hope you all enjoyed this excursion. The lord and I have made some plans that I would like to share with our camp leader, so let's get moving."

After receiving affirmations of "okay" and "alright," the party left the estate and made their way back through the streets. They stopped at a few stalls to purchase items with the money they had earned, mostly focusing on food and sturdy equipment for the others in camp.

As dusk approached, the party regrouped and made their way into the slum area. Everything was as peaceful as the slums could be, although a few pickpockets noticed the hefty sum the party had earned. Some, feeling greedy, attempted to snatch the bag. However, thanks to Liam's intuition and Lucia's awareness of their surroundings, no one was able to escape with their prize.

When the group arrived at the camp, they entered through the doors, but were stopped in their tracks by a few mischievous kids who had gathered at the door. After surrounding the entrance to see who was returning, the kids eventually dispersed, allowing the group to move inside. Brian headed straight for Daniel's room, which doubled as his office, while the rest of the group scattered to put away the things they had bought, leaving Aleshia alone with Cecelia.

"So, what are you going to cook for us?" Cecelia asked.

Aleshia paused to consider the ingredients she had brought back earlier. After a moment of thought, she replied, "I was thinking of making a stir-fry. We did gather a lot of vegetables and restocked on what we needed."
