Chapter 314 Stir-fry
"That sounds delicious," Cecelia grinned, picturing the tasty meal Aleshia would be preparing. However, she supressed her gluttony and asked, "Is there anything I can help with? I don't want to be someone who only eats." Cecelia then proposed, "If you don't mind, could I learn how to cook this stir-fry with you?" She leaned in closer to Aleshia, her seriousness evident as she made the offer.
Aleshia could see how much Cecelia wanted help. Knowing that the tasks would be quite a chore to handle alone, she presented her with a few things to do. "Alright, I like your spirit, so I have a few things we need to get ready," Aleshia began. "First, we need to gather three or four pots and pans for cooking. Once you have those, set them up over the fire. After that, you can return to me, and we can start chopping the vegetables together."
Cecelia looked both excited and somewhat daunted by the task ahead. However, she went along with Aleshia's instructions and rummaged through the shelves, bringing out the requested pans and pots. Meanwhile, Aleshia took out some knives and cutting boards. She placed the vegetables on the boards and began to cut them, giving Cecelia examples to help her understand how much needed to be cut.
Amid the sounds of clattering and chopping, a sense of calm began to settle over the area. Eventually, Cecelia approached Aleshia to let her know that she had started the fire and placed the pans on it. Eager to take over the chopping, Cecelia picked up a knife and began cutting the vegetables that were still on the board.
While Cecelia was chopping, Aleshia reviewed her technique and offered some advice. "When cutting vegetables for a stir-fry, chop them into small, shield-like pieces. If the pieces become too small to cut safely, you can either leave them as they are or cut them into chunks about the size of your finger. The knives I bought should make it easier for a beginner like you, Cecelia, to let the blade glide through the vegetables since they're brand new and well-maintained. Previously, I used the dull knives from the camp, and while I managed to sharpen them a bit with my water magic, they still didn't perform well. I'm really glad to see how well the new ones are working."
After sharing some tips on how to use the knife, Aleshia felt confident that Cecelia had everything under control. She left Cecelia to continue on her own while she checked the fire and pans to make sure everything was in order.
