Chapter 1281 - Immortal's Tomb

Translator: CinderTL

A three-foot-long bronze mace materialized before Leng Zhi, crackling with violet lightning as it hurtled toward Song Wen.

Song Wen watched the approaching mace with a faint smile.

Suddenly, nine shadow void tentacles erupted from his head, trembling slightly.

Buzz—

A piercing, high-pitched hum filled the air, reaching Leng Zhi's ears just before the mace could strike Song Wen.

Leng Zhi felt countless steel needles pierce her Sea of Consciousness, shredding her divine soul into a thousand fragments.

Before she could even scream, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed unconscious, suspended in mid-air.

Song Wen retracted the shadow void tentacles and unleashed a strand of spiritual power, pulling Leng Zhi's body toward him.

He devoured her divine soul and blood essence, then ignited a wisp of fierce flames, reducing her corpse to ashes.

A storage ring, Leng Zhi's possession, now lay in Song Wen's palm.

Using his divine sense to probe the ring, Song Wen quickly located three drops of Pure Origin Heavenly Dew.

Why only three drops? Song Wen wondered, slightly puzzled.

Heng Ziping had mentioned that Leng Zhi carried at least three drops. Moreover, after discovering this stone pillar, she should have acquired more than just three.

Could I have arrived too soon? Has Leng Zhi not yet found a single drop of Pure Origin Heavenly Dew on the stone pillar?

As Song Wen pondered this, he began searching the pillar from the bottom up.

After ascending over ten thousand li, he reached the top of the pillar, only to be blocked by an enormous stone wall.

He then turned back and searched downward, reaching the very base of the pillar without finding a single drop of Pure Origin Heavenly Dew.

However, he did discover twelve small pits on the pillar, clearly left behind from the collection of the dew.

Song Wen's brow furrowed deeply.

If these twelve drops weren't in Leng Zhi's storage ring, where could they have gone?

Song Wen plunged his divine sense into Leng Zhi's Sea of Consciousness, intending to interrogate her divine soul.

However, Leng Zhi's divine soul had been severely damaged by the shadow void, its form riddled with holes due to the shadow void's lack of control over its power. To extract any information, he would first need to heal her soul.

Song Wen had no time to waste on such matters.

Since Leng Zhi's divine soul was now useless, he directly activated the Black Hole within his Sea of Consciousness and devoured it.

Could there be others besides the four of us at the bottom of this abyss? Song Wen wondered inwardly.

However, he quickly dismissed this hypothesis.

Another possibility occurred to him: Heng Ziping had taken the Pure Origin Heavenly Dew from this location.

Moreover, there was likely another colossal stone pillar nearby, and Heng Ziping had probably claimed the Pure Origin Heavenly Dew from that one as well.

Heng Ziping's supply of Pure Origin Heavenly Dew might very well rival his own.

This would explain why Heng Ziping showed no interest when Leng Zhi proposed the three of them team up to eliminate Song Wen and split his Pure Origin Heavenly Dew.

Song Wen shifted his stance and flew toward the location where he predicted the fourth stone pillar would be, intending to verify his theory.

Though he had never seen this pillar before and didn't know its exact location, his experience with the previous two pillars allowed him to roughly deduce its position based on the current pillar's location.

Flying a thousand miles above the abyss bottom, Song Wen had barely covered thirty thousand miles when he unexpectedly discovered a towering platform.

The square platform rose approximately a hundred miles high, its seamless surface resembling a single, colossal block of stone.

After Song Wen meticulously scanned the high platform with his divine sense, he discovered a three-meter-tall cave entrance at its eastern base.

Behind the entrance lay a sloping tunnel leading downward.

The tunnel was deep and dark, and it seemed to be protected by a restriction that interfered with divine sense perception, making it impossible to discern its interior conditions.

Song Wen flew to the cave entrance and gazed at the two large words carved into the stone wall above:

Immortal's Tomb!

This place was actually a cultivator's tomb!

But what about the Gang Qi Waterfall in the abyss?

Could the Nine Heavens Astral Wind have been artificially channeled here?

After the Nine Heavens Astral Wind entered the two caves, where did it go?

The two caves were located in the stone wall above, and the only connection between the wall and the underground Immortal's Tomb were those stone pillars.

If the Nine Heavens Astral Wind was so valuable, why wasn't it directly channeled into the tomb?

And what level of cultivation would be required to manipulate the Nine Heavens Astral Wind?

Could it truly be as the inscription claimed—an Immortal's Tomb?

Song Wen stared at the three characters, his mind racing.

He knew full well that great opportunities lay within this tomb, yet he dared not cross the threshold.

The mere gale at the tomb's entrance had nearly cost him, a Void Refinement Stage cultivator, his life. What perils awaited within?

Suddenly, Song Wen sensed something and turned to look behind him.

Heng Ziping was approaching through the air.

Heng Ziping appeared surprised to see Song Wen there.

"Fellow Daoist Gou Jun, what are you doing here? Where's Leng Zhi?"

Hearing this, Song Wen immediately understood: Heng Ziping had indeed discovered this place long ago, and the Pure Origin Heavenly Dew on the nearby stone pillars had fallen into his hands.

"Leng Zhi is dead! What about Xue Cong?"

"Xue Cong is dead too," Heng Ziping replied. "His soul has scattered and his spirit has vanished."

Song Wen nodded and pointed to the tomb entrance.

"It seems you discovered this tomb long ago, fellow daoist. Have you ventured inside?"

"No," Heng Ziping said.

"Oh? Why not?" Song Wen asked.

Heng Ziping countered, "Then why haven't you entered, fellow daoist?"

The two exchanged a glance, a faint smile appearing on both their faces.

"Since neither of us is entering this tomb, we'll have to return to the Gang Qi Waterfall and wait for a suitable opportunity to return to the surface," Song Wen said.

"I'm afraid we can't leave just yet," Heng Ziping replied.

"Why not?" Song Wen asked.

"After eliminating Xue Cong, I checked the area below the Gang Qi Waterfall. The waterfall has become extremely unstable, changing direction every hundred breaths or less. Such a short window, even with favorable winds, is far too brief for either of us to escape into the abyss."

Heng Ziping paused briefly before continuing.

"It seems your earlier speculation wasn't entirely unfounded. Our sudden appearance here and rash actions have indeed disrupted the operation of the Gang Qi Waterfall."

Song Wen's brow furrowed slightly as he muttered in a low voice, "In that case, escaping this place will be quite troublesome."

He secretly considered whether it might be possible to bypass the abyss entirely and excavate a new tunnel straight to the surface.

However, he quickly dismissed the idea.

Due to the presence of gang qi, the rocks near the abyss had become exceptionally hard, far different from ordinary stone. Moreover, the distance to the surface was unknown, likely tens of thousands of miles. Excavating such a tunnel would be no easy task, and it would be nearly impossible to accomplish in a short time.

As for using Earth Evasion Talismans, that wouldn't work either.

Earth Evasion Talismans were not omnipotent.

When traveling underground, they were subjected to immense pressure from the overlying strata.

If one ventured too deep, the spiritual light condensed by the talisman would be crushed by the overwhelming pressure, causing the Earth Evasion to fail.

"Fellow Daoist Gou Jun, since we're both trapped here, why not explore the tomb? We might find another exit, or even discover priceless treasures within."

"Your reasoning is sound, fellow daoist." Song Wen raised his hand in a gesture of invitation. "Shall we proceed first?"
