How could there be humans within the Willow Serpent Clan?
Where did these humans come from?
Song Wen frowned slightly, his mind racing with possibilities.
His first thought was that the Western Rong Continent might have indigenous human populations.
But he quickly dismissed this idea.
If native humans existed, the Willow Serpent Clan wouldn't have reacted with such excitement upon seeing him, a human.
Next, he considered whether these humans might be the cultivators who had traveled with him through the teleportation array.
However, this theory also seemed unlikely.
Among the remaining twenty-odd cultivators, he was the first to learn of the Willow Serpent Clan's existence. Moreover, he had traveled day and night without rest, so the others couldn't have reached the Willow Serpents before him.
Furthermore, from King Jianglin and King Yinliu's conversation, Song Wen sensed that King Yinliu had possessed those two humans for quite some time already.
With his thoughts clarified, Song Wen felt considerably relieved.
As long as these humans weren't Yuanrong and his group, they posed no threat to him.
Though his mind raced like lightning, Song Wen's face remained impassive. He clasped his hands in a fist salute and bowed respectfully to King Yinliu.
"Your Majesty, I am honored by your favor upon my arrival in your esteemed realm. However, having accepted invitations from King Jianglin and Miss Qinglian, I must first fulfill my promise to them. I will certainly pay my respects to you at my earliest convenience."
"Very well!" King Yinliu's smile remained radiant, revealing nothing of her true thoughts. "Then I shall await your visit. You must come."
With that, she turned and departed.
Qing Lian glared at King Yinliu's retreating figure, her eyes wide with indignation.
"That King Yinliu! Trying to snatch you right in front of us! Big brother, she shows you no respect!"
King Jianglin, however, remained composed, offering no comment on King Yinliu's behavior. She simply said, "Let's go. Back to the palace."
She then led Song Wen and Qing Lian away, leaving the assembled Willow Serpents staring after them, especially the hundreds of transformed 'women' who gazed longingly into the distance.
The deeper they ventured into the marsh, the sparser the Willow Serpent Clan became.
By the time King Jianglin halted mid-air, hovering above the marsh, only a handful of Willow Serpents remained in sight.
Without those scorching gazes, Song Wen immediately felt more at ease.
Ever since entering the marsh, he had felt like a lamb thrown into a pack of wolves. The sight of countless Willow Serpents, many unclothed, their bare chests filling the sky and earth, had made his eyes ache.
"This is where Qing Lian and I reside," King Jianglin said, gesturing toward a towering mountain below. "Apart from a few dozen attendants, no outsiders are permitted here. You needn't worry about being disturbed."
"Ji Yin, let's go! I'll show you my cultivation cave," Qing Lian said, tugging at Song Wen's sleeve as she swooped down to the sunlit base of the mountain.
At the foot of the mountain stood a massive cave entrance, several dozen feet high, sealed by a stone gate. The gate emanated a mysterious energy that blocked divine sense from penetrating, likely marking the entrance to Qing Lian and King Jianglin's cultivation cave.
Outside the cave lay a small patch of land, beyond which stretched the marsh. Within the marsh, walkways and several cooling pavilions had been constructed.
Qing Lian produced a snake scale.
After channeling demon essence into it, the scale flashed with a green light, and the stone gate of the cave immediately swung open.
Qing Lian pulled Song Wen inside.
After traversing a hundred-zhang-long tunnel, they emerged into a spacious, irregularly shaped cavern.
The cavern was dry and frigid. At its deepest point, a skylight pierced through the ceiling, allowing sunlight to penetrate and alleviate the darkness.
Beneath the skylight lay a Cold Pool, over ten zhang in diameter.
The pool was deep and dark, its depths connected directly to the bottom of the lake outside.
On either side of the Cold Pool stood a pair of 'beds'.
Each bed was fully three zhang wide, woven from coiled spirit vines like oversized bird nests.
"This is my bed, and that's Big Brother's," Qing Lian explained, pointing to each nest in turn.
"You and King Jianglin share the same cultivation cave?" Song Wen asked, surprised.
"Of course!" Qing Lian nodded matter-of-factly. "Big Brother and I have lived together since we were children."
"Your bond is truly deep and enviable," Song Wen remarked, genuinely moved.
In the Immortal Cultivation World, deception and betrayal were commonplace. Even siblings rarely shared a cultivation cave. While this might occur among low-tier cultivators, it was unthinkable for eighth-tier powerhouses like King Jianglin.
"Big brother takes such good care of me," Qing Lian replied with a cheerful smile.
Before she could finish speaking, splash! Qing Lian suddenly leaped into the pool, sending droplets of water flying.
The droplets settled back into the pool, and the surface gradually calmed.
Qing Lian dove deep underwater.
Whoosh!
Moments later, Qing Lian resurfaced.
Crystal-clear water beads rolled down her smooth skin, and her wet black hair clung to her full chest.
"Ji Yin, come join me! The pool is so much fun!"
Her azure serpent tail slapped the water, sending splashes toward Song Wen, who blocked them with a mana shield.
"Miss Qinglian, you enjoy yourself. I'll stay on the shore," Song Wen firmly declined.
Getting wet in front of two female Willow Serpents? That would be a "wet body seduction" scenario!
Qing Lian suddenly remembered something, her eyes lighting up slightly.
"Wait here a moment. I'll go get you something nice."
With a flick of her serpentine tail, Qing Lian dove back underwater, heading straight for the bottom of the pool.
"My apologies!"
King Jianglin's voice sounded behind Song Wen.
Song Wen turned to see King Jianglin standing before him.
"Qing Lian doesn't understand the customs of your human race. Ji Yin, I hope you won't take offense," King Jianglin said.
"King Jianglin, you flatter me. Miss Qinglian has already reached the sixth-tier of cultivation, yet she retains such childlike innocence—a truly rare quality," Song Wen replied.
"I've spoiled that girl," King Jianglin admitted.
"King Jianglin, I have a question that has been puzzling me greatly. I would be grateful if you could enlighten me..."
Song Wen tried to change the subject, but before he could finish, King Jianglin interrupted.
"You want to ask about the other humans in our clan, don't you?"
Song Wen nodded.
King Jianglin continued, "There are nine humans in our clan, and all of them are... male."
"Only nine?" Song Wen asked, his expression puzzled. "Where did they come from?"
