The dark silhouette within the water spray radiated intense heat. When water droplets touched its surface, they instantly evaporated, creating bursts of steam.
Through the mist, brilliant blue flames could be seen dancing, while a pair of glowing red eyes emerged from the vapor.
"ROOOOOAAR!"
A deep roar echoed through the steam as a pair of massive wings spread wide, dispersing the surrounding water vapor. Having blocked the three legendary birds' attack, the figure finally appeared before everyone.
"A...Ash? Is that... Charizard?"
The figure standing atop the dark silhouette was familiar to all present—it was Ash. The intense heat had instantly dried his clothes and hair.
Ash slowly opened his eyes, which now glowed red just like Charizard's. At this moment, Charizard had undergone a complete transformation.
While its limbs remained largely the same, its orange skin had turned completely black. Its belly and neck were now blue, with blue claw-like horns protruding from both shoulders, and small fin-like projections had grown from the back of its neck.
The wing frame featured sharp, claw-like angles, with the inner wing membranes displaying a deep blue color that ended in jagged, tooth-like edges.
Charizard's head had changed from its original blunt shape to a sharp, angular form with a blue tip. Its long tail swayed gently, the flame at its tip now burning bright blue instead of orange.
Blue flames also extended backward from both sides of its cheeks and jaw. This was the first time anyone present had witnessed Charizard in this extraordinary form.
Lavender Town
"This is... Mega Evolution?!" In Lavender Town, Dr. Fuji stared at the television screen in disbelief.
Unconsciously, his gaze shifted to a box sitting on the cabinet beside the TV. A faint light emanated from within.
He had acquired it by chance—a legendary precious item from the Kalos region that could enable Pokémon to evolve beyond their final forms. He was particularly surprised because such items were extremely rare in the Kanto region.
Watching the television, he could see that Ash's Charizard wasn't carrying any such device, which left Dr. Fuji wondering how Ash's Charizard could achieve Mega Evolution without assistance.
"Is this the power Lance mentioned? Let me test it!"
Witnessing the appearance of Ash and his transformed Charizard, Giovanni's face lit up with excitement as he began controlling the three legendary birds once again.
"CRAAACK!"
The three legendary birds unleashed their power again at maximum intensity. Tri Attack energy built up once more before being released directly toward Ash and Charizard.
"Ash, be careful!"
Lance was first to react and immediately called out a warning. However, he saw Ash standing calmly behind Charizard, completely unmoved by the powerful energy rushing toward them.
"ROOOAAAAAR!"
Charizard let out a tremendous roar, releasing waves of intense heat that rippled outward from its body.
"Flamethrower!"
Simultaneously, Ash gave his command. Upon hearing the order, Charizard tilted its head slightly. As it moved, its glowing red eyes traced a crimson arc through the air.
"WHOOOOSH! BOOM!"
Charizard then released blazing flames from its mouth with a mighty roar. The fire had changed from its original orange-red to the same brilliant blue as the flames on its tail and jaws.
The blue Flamethrower collided with the three legendary birds' Tri Attack. Under the conflicting energies of both attacks, after a brief stalemate, a massive explosion erupted.
Thick smoke filled the air, and Lance's expression showed clear surprise as he observed the scene.
"The power of its attacks has increased dramatically!"
Even his Dragonite couldn't withstand a direct Tri Attack from the controlled legendary birds, just as Ash's previous Charizard couldn't either.
Now, however, Charizard could meet the three legendary birds' Tri Attack head-on, and the improvement in Charizard's power was unmistakable.
"Let's go!" Looking at the smoke ahead, Ash spoke without hesitation. Upon hearing the command, Charizard took flight, carrying Ash directly toward the legendary birds.
Its speed was significantly faster than before. Seeing this, Lance also sprang into action, flying toward Ash's position.
"Ash, what's your plan?" Lance flew alongside Ash on his Aerodactyl, asking about Ash's current strategy.
"I have this device that Blaine gave me—it can separate them, but I need to get close!"
Ash held up the box in his hands. The container was extremely sturdy and hadn't been damaged despite falling into the water.
Time was running short, and although Charizard had achieved Mega Evolution, Ash wasn't certain how long this form could be maintained. They needed to act quickly.
"I understand! Go for it!" After hearing this, Lance didn't waste words. Since Blaine had chosen to entrust this mission to Ash, he decided to place his trust in the young trainer as well.
"Right!" Ash nodded slightly, saying nothing more as he rushed directly toward the three legendary birds.
When Giovanni saw this, he immediately took control. Articuno released an Ice Beam, blasting it in Ash's direction just as Ash prepared to counterattack.
"Dragonite, use Flamethrower!"
On the other side, Lance's Dragonite moved swiftly and launched an attack under Lance's command. Fire and ice collided, exploding directly in midair.
"Just keep moving forward—I've got you covered!"
Dragonite could handle one of them on its own. Lance was determined to protect Ash until he could get close enough.
"Thanks!" Ash responded as Charizard flew around the explosion ahead and continued rushing forward.
At that moment, Zapdos released a Thunderbolt attack, launching another assault in Ash's direction.
"Lapras, use Ice Beam!"
A brilliant blue icy ray struck and collided with Zapdos's Thunderbolt. Another explosion echoed through the air as Ash turned to look behind him.
He saw Sabrina smiling at him, her body enveloped in blue light as she floated directly in the air. Her Lapras was also suspended in midair under the control of Sabrina's psychic powers.
"Leave this side to me—you can move forward without worry!"
