Chapter 22 - A Gamble for Reputation

"Mr. Abhay, I assume you must have all the ingredients used in your natural cream, right?"

Om asks calmly.

Hearing this, Abhay simply nods and leads Om toward the storage room next to the office. Inside, he shows him all the ingredients used in the cream. After that, Abhay quietly steps out, leaving Om alone in the room.

The moment Abhay leaves, Om closes the door from the inside.

Outside, everyone waits anxiously for Om to come out. No one has any idea what he's doing inside that locked room.

Supriya walks closer to Abhay and whispers softly,

"Do you really think he'll be able to treat Mrs. Shah?"

Abhay looks a little worried, but he remembers what the mayor had told him about Om's abilities. So he replies with cautious confidence.

"I don't know exactly what he'll do… but I trust him. The mayor has told me a lot about his medical skills. Honestly, the mayor never gets tired of praising him. So I'm sure Om will come up with something."

Meanwhile, on the other side, Mrs. Shah stands there with a smug smile on her face.

To her, this whole situation seems impossible. Even if Om somehow manages to make an anti-cream, it wouldn't show results this quickly. And if it doesn't work, she will definitely demand compensation from the Kathwanis.

After all, she'll have to live with these pimples for a few days anyway.

And if that handsome boy fails to cure her… well, she'll practically hit the jackpot.

The pimples will disappear eventually, but she'll still walk away with one lakh rupees.

The boy is definitely handsome, she thinks to herself, but he's even more foolish. I've never seen someone lose a winning game like this.

Lost in these thoughts, Mrs. Shah feels secretly delighted.

A few minutes later, the door opens.

Om steps out of the room holding a small vial filled with a purple-colored liquid.

Everyone looks at him curiously, eager to know what will happen next.

But Om doesn't say much. Smiling calmly, he walks straight to Mrs. Shah and hands her the purple liquid.

"Apply this now," he says. "Then wash your face after ten to fifteen minutes. After that, we'll talk."

Mrs. Shah is completely stunned to hear this. Without asking a single question, she takes the liquid.

Abhay points her toward the restroom, and she walks inside.

As soon as she leaves, Abhay moves closer to Om and whispers nervously,

"Yaar… the explanation you gave about the chemical reaction was already enough. I could've handled the rest later. You didn't need to take this risk."

Om simply smiles.

"I know. But you're my friend. I can't leave you alone in trouble. And it wasn't just about money or that liquid. It was about your reputation. She's also one of your VIP customers. I've learned that it's always better to protect relationships than to let them break. So I just did what felt right."

Hearing this, Abhay becomes slightly emotional. He smiles warmly.

"Looks like she'll take some time. Leave that aside for now… let's finish your work."

They walk back into Abhay's office.

Abhay sits down on his chair, opens a drawer, and pulls out a file. Placing it on the table, he flips through a few pages before sliding it toward Om.

"Everything you listed for your clinic—I've arranged it all. And just like you asked, we've already ordered the construction of your clinic near the hill forest outside the city."

He continues,

"The clinic will sit on almost 200 hectares of land. We're equipping it with the latest medical technology and machines. The remaining work will also be completed soon. Now all you have to do is sign here… and officially become the owner of that place."

Om doesn't ask a single question. He simply picks up the pen and signs the papers.

Seeing this, Abhay looks shocked.

"Hey! What are you doing? At least read them first."

Om smiles and replies casually,

"I didn't invest even a single rupee in this project, and yet I'm becoming the owner. That means I already trust you. So what's there to read?"

Just then, Supriya—who had been silent all this time—speaks up, remembering something.

"Excuse me, Mr. Om… but I'm a bit confused. You haven't studied medicine, and you're not from a famous medical family either. Yet you have so many medical skills. How is that possible? If you don't mind… would you like to share that secret?"

Om chuckles softly.

"Miss Supriya, I don't really have any secrets. Anyone can do this with focus, meditation, and by reading books. I like reading at least one book every day and giving proper time to it. Books give me knowledge. That's it… there's no hidden secret."

Hearing this, Supriya smiles shyly and teases him.

"And what about the secret behind your good looks? Since we're already sharing secrets, you might as well tell us that one too."

Both Om and Abhay burst into laughter.

Om doesn't respond at first. Seeing no reaction, Supriya says,

"If you don't want to tell us, that's fine."

Om finally answers casually,

"I don't have beauty secrets like girls do. When I'm tired, I just wash my face, keep my skin hydrated, and exercise regularly. That's about it—nothing special."

Meanwhile, inside the restroom, Mrs. Shah begins applying the purple liquid to her face.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she grins and mutters,

"Sometimes pimples can really change your destiny."

She laughs quietly.

"Thank you, dear pimples. You've just won me a one-lakh-rupee shopping reward. If pimples can earn someone this much money, then they're not so bad after all."

She continues smirking at her reflection.

"That foolish boy… I've never seen someone so stupid. God gave him such a handsome face, but it looks like He forgot to give him brains. I thought today was going to be a terrible day, but no… it's actually my lucky day. Thank you, pimples."

With that, she slowly spreads the liquid across her face.

Outside, Om, Abhay, and Supriya wait for her to come out.

As time passes, everyone grows tense. But Supriya seems the most anxious.

She whispers to Abhay,

"Brother… what if Mr. Om's liquid doesn't work?"

Abhay tries to reassure her.

"Don't worry. I'll handle everything. And I trust Om completely—he'll definitely do something incredible."

Then he frowns slightly.

"But why hasn't Mrs. Shah come out yet? She should've been done by now."

Just as Abhay finishes speaking, a loud scream suddenly echoes from inside the restroom.

Everyone freezes in shock.

They look at each other nervously.

Only Om remains standing calmly in his place.

Abhay panics.

"Oh no… what happened? What if Om's cream had the opposite effect?"

Without wasting another second, he rushes to the restroom door and starts knocking frantically.

"Mrs. Shah! What happened? Please open the door!"

But there's no response from inside.

Now Abhay is truly terrified. He begins pushing the door harder.

"Mrs. Shah! Please open the door. Tell us what happened!"

Just then, they hear the sound of the door latch unlocking from inside.

Slowly… the door begins to open.

Everyone stares at the entrance, waiting to see Mrs. Shah.

And the moment the door opens fully—

Abhay, Supriya, and everyone else standing there are left completely stunned, their eyes wide with disbelief.
