Chapter 155 - Chapter 155: What changed?

The servant was taken away by the guards a moment later, and Paul asked the officer to place her under strict guard, since he didn't want anyone to silence her before he got the answers he needed.

The officer agreed, as he also wanted some answers, mostly about the assassins whom the cultivators shot.

After taking a closer look, it was discovered that they were not some normal thugs, and he wanted information about their organization.

-Paul, are you alright?

Xiao Han asked, running in his direction.

He left the meeting he was in as soon as he heard about the whole thing.

-I'm fine, uncle.

Paul answered.

Seeing that his adoptive nephew was safe and sound, Xiao Han wanted to hear the whole story, so Paul told him everything.

-I'll send some of my guards to watch this woman.

The province lord said, nodding at his people, who immediately left to carry out the order.

Soon, more officers arrived demanding to know what was going on and who dared to try and assassinate a member of the province lord's family in the capital and in broad daylight no less.

The officer who witnessed it all answered all the questions that he could, and Paul explained the rest.

To say that they were shocked would be an understatement.

They all understood that there were some conflicts in every family, but no one dared to try and assassinate their family member in the city and with hundreds of people to witness it.

After explaining everything again and again as well as answering some questions, the officers left as they had other duties to attend to, and this matter was already solved.

Paul didn't forget to thank all the cultivators who helped take down the assassins before he returned to his ladies.

-Paul, is everything alright?

Anna asked after a moment of awkward silence.

-I'm alright, sorry to scare you like that.

He said, hoping that his ladies would not be scared of him after this.

-That woman, was she…?

Irine started to ask, but could not finish her sentence.

-She was the one who hired people to sabotage my parents' car.

Paul explained, knowing what she wanted to ask.

All the ladies knew his story by now, so they understood why he became so cold and cruel.

Additionally, some cultivators who were nearby also heard his answer, and despite not knowing what a car was, they quickly figured out what happened.

This was enough for them to understand Paul's behavior, as most people would want to get revenge for their family.

Paul's ladies were also more understanding now that they knew who the servant was.

-What do you plan to do with her?

Natalie asked.

All the ladies were curious about it but were hesitant to ask.

-She has some information I need, and after I obtain it, I'll hand her over to the guards.

For Paul, it made no difference if he killed her himself or if she was executed; the result was the same.

-How did you avoid the poison in the letter?

Anna asked, as this question was bugging her, not that she wanted him to get poisoned.

-She was wearing gloves, and I know she hates to wear them, so I knew something was wrong, and just to be on the safe side, I placed a thin coat of my qi on my hands, which turned out to be the correct move.

Paul explained.

He omitted that he also felt a slight killing intent from her when she was giving him the letter.

In addition to all that, he was also slightly paranoid when it came to his biological father's family after what they did to him the last time.

The longer they talked, the calmer the ladies became, and soon everyone returned to normal.

Additionally, after they had had some time to think about it, all the ladies concluded that Paul would do the same thing to anyone who tried to harm any of them.

In the end, all of them accepted that this was just how he was and were even happy that he would go to such lengths for his family.

That night, Paul stayed up, allowing the ladies to rest as he had a lot to think about.

It surprised him that his father's family had moved to the fifth world so quickly or that his step-siblings got accepted into sects as disciples since, as far as he knew, they were average in every aspect of their cultivation and relied on him to become stronger.

-You are forgetting about your own physique.

A voice inside his mind said, as he was wondering what had changed.

-It is possible that you were not the only one whose information was incomplete.

The reincarnation soul said.

-Also, since they were accepted by sects in the fifth world, there had to be something special about them.

The sects up there don't just accept everyone, and they also don't relocate the whole family without a reason.

-Then what changed?

In my previous life, there were some offers for some of them to join sects, but they were always from this world, not from above.

Also, most of these offers arrived when someone figured out my physique or one of these idiots blabbed about it.

Paul said in his thoughts.

-You changed, obviously.

The last time this opportunity might have been missed by them because you were around or you did something, but this time around, you were not here, and they took the opportunity once it was presented to them.

-No matter what, this changes nothing.

I still need to get to the twelfth world either way.

Paul finally said.

He could wait to deal with his so-called family, but the one person he was worried about was Alice, and he intended to get some information about her from the servant once she was broken and became a slave.

The night went by peacefully, and Paul even managed to cultivate a bit once he was done thinking about everything.

During the last few days, he managed to advance only once, reaching the second level of the third stage in both cultivation's.

The reason for that was simple: he had no way to cultivate with his ladies when they were surrounded by an army of cultivators at all times, which frustrated him no less than his ladies.

The next morning, right after breakfast, a guard approached them.

He informed Paul that his presence was required to interrogate the prisoner he captured.
