Chapter 304 - Chapter 304: A Poor Imitator

Chapter 304: A Poor Imitator

Among the three, only Yae Miko showed mild surprise at Bai Luo's actions.

Raiden Ei simply responded with one sentence:

"A crude imitator."

She assumed the stance of an iaido slash, and the lightning wrapped around Musou no Hitotachi exploded outward in an instant.

Watching from the side, Yae Miko wished she had a pair of sunglasses from Fontaine—her best friend's light pollution was simply too blinding.

Her slash was perfectly controlled, maintaining its full power without damaging the overall structure of Tenshukaku.

The deep violet blade-light even gave the illusion that space itself had been cut open.

But Bai Luo's Singer's Sword successfully blocked it.

Bai Luo's Void abilities were very different from those in the original story.

In the original, extracting someone's Void required two conditions:

The target had to be under seventeen. He had to make eye contact with them.

But the System-modified Voids no longer had these restrictions.

Likewise, the rule that the destruction of a Void killed its owner also no longer existed.

These Void-bearers were more like placeholders—their Voids had little real relation to them.

More importantly, with the System's enhancements, unless Bai Luo willingly discarded a Void, it was as unbreakable as any weapon issued by the System.

Compared to Raiden Ei's Musou no Hitotachi, the nearly two-meter greatsword in Bai Luo's hands looked even more imposing.

But in reality, Bai Luo was the one being suppressed the entire time.

It was simply a matter of mindset.

Just like the Duel Before the Throne between Kujou Sara and Kazuha's friend—Bai Luo's mind wasn't focused on defeating Raiden Ei at all.

Raiden Ei's goal was to defeat Bai Luo.

Bai Luo's goal was merely to stall for time.

From the very beginning, he had never intended to win in a direct fight—so how could he possibly suppress her?

. . .

Raiden Ei took the stance for an iaijutsu strike, gathering a bit of power.

Lightning flared across her body as she swung a sweeping horizontal slash at Bai Luo.

The moment she assumed the stance, Bai Luo knew exactly what she intended to do.

So he jumped into the air, attempting to evade her swing.

But Raiden Ei had already anticipated this the moment she noted his superhuman jumping ability.

Her originally horizontal blade curved mid-swing and shifted into an upward slash.

CLANG—!

The Dancer's Shoes had a cooldown of only seven seconds, and by now the ability was ready again.

Using the boots' air-stall effect, Bai Luo dodged the upward strike.

He then brought down the Singer's Sword, now filled with Void energy, toward Raiden Ei.

Although he no longer had the Battousai class, he still used Doryūsen.

A downward strike amplified by falling momentum—it carried a force that felt like the heavens were collapsing.

It might have intimidated an ordinary person.

But Raiden Ei was a survivor of the Archon War—someone who had literally witnessed the sky fall.

She stared coldly at Bai Luo as lightning spread across her entire body.

Illusions.

Her figure vanished.

The greatsword slammed down—driving deep into the wooden floor of Tenshukaku.

But Raiden Ei was nowhere to be seen.

Because in a flash of thunder, she had already split into four lightning-clad phantoms, shooting toward four different directions of Tenshukaku.

"..."

Well then.

No wonder her moves looked so familiar from the start—was he basically fighting the weekly boss version of the Raiden Shogun ahead of schedule?

But compared to the weekly-boss Raiden Shogun, Raiden Ei herself was far more terrifying.

Without the constraints of gameplay mechanics, her moves were no longer fixed patterns.

Instead, they were full of unpredictable variations.

Even this clone technique wasn't like the game, where the shadows all stood in predetermined positions and performed low-damage slashes.

These four phantoms clearly acted with their own will.

They turned into streaks of lightning, continuously shifting positions, attacking from Bai Luo's blind spots with slashes sharp enough to be fatal.

Worst of all, there was none of that game rule where the real body releases the X-shaped slash and the clones only swing once.

There was no way to distinguish which one was the real Raiden Ei.

Even with the Dancer's Shoes and One-Winged Angel buffs, Bai Luo couldn't avoid getting cut among the storm of blade-light.

Fortunately, Lover's Veil was strong enough to keep healing him.

Otherwise… just these wounds alone would have been enough to put him out of commission.

After all, these slashes were from the Electro Archon herself.

Musou no Hitotachi, though technically a blade without an edge, attacks through the lightning Raiden Ei channels into it.

But as he watched the dazzling barrage of blade-light, Bai Luo suddenly remembered another Void ability he possessed.

"Void—Mirror of Reversal!"

A circular barrier shaped like a honeycomb expanded outward, engulfing Bai Luo and all four of Raiden Ei's phantoms.

At first, Raiden Ei thought it was just some kind of protective shield.

She even wondered why Bai Luo would include her inside the barrier as well.

But when her slash struck the inner wall of the Mirror of Reversal, she realized that the seemingly fragile barrier wall had blocked her attack completely.

Even worse, after blocking it, the inner wall reflected a beam of Electro energy back.

The beam bounced around inside, ricocheting faster and faster until only an afterimage could be seen.

A total of ten beams ravaged every corner within the Mirror of Reversal, until the barrier finally dissolved.

As the thunder-light faded, only a heavily wounded Raiden Ei remained—and Bai Luo, who didn't look much better than she did.

The Mirror of Reversal could reflect all projectile-type attacks, including but not limited to sword energy, bullets, elemental blasts, bombs, arrows…

More importantly, the reflected damage scaled with the original attack's own power and element.

Which meant the beams bouncing inside the barrier just now carried the same strength as Raiden Ei's blade slashes.

She had essentially been struck repeatedly by her own attacks.

In truth, the counter was easy to break—either step outside the Mirror's range, or simply stop using projectile attacks.

But since her slashes couldn't break through the interior of the barrier, Raiden Ei assumed it was impenetrable to everything.

So she stayed inside and endured the entire barrage head-on.

In reality, the barrier only blocked projectiles—people could walk through it freely.

The two seemed to have fought to a draw, but both of them knew the truth: neither had used anywhere close to their full strength.

This fight… didn't even qualify as an appetizer.

Raiden Ei wanted to capture him alive while avoiding killing him.

Bai Luo wanted to adapt to his new class, Void Tyrant, while stalling until the cooldown on quantum teleportation finished.

If they actually fought seriously, it wouldn't just be their weapons that changed—even their appearances might undergo… noticeable transformations.
