Chapter 305: The Overturned Tenshukaku
The Tenryou Commission and the Okuzumeshuu had long since surrounded the Tenshukaku, but the lightning arcing around its exterior made it impossible for them to enter.
All they could do was watch helplessly as lightning continued to flash within the Tenshukaku, anxiety gnawing at them with no solution in sight.
Now, inside the Tenshukaku.
The floor where Bai Luo and Raiden Ei stood had already been reduced to utter chaos.
Of the tatami mats spread across the floor, all except the one beneath Yae Miko's rear had long since been reduced to ash by the lightning.
In a sense… both Raiden Ei and Bai Luo were rather indulgent toward this pink-haired fox.
No matter how fiercely they fought, they always tried to avoid her position.
The walls inlaid with the triple tomoe crest of Electro were riddled with holes under the slashes of their blades. One wall had even vanished entirely, allowing a clear view of the outside.
If Hiiragi Shinsuke, who oversaw the finances, were to see this scene, his face would probably twitch uncontrollably.
As a symbol of Inazuma's authority, every part of the Tenshukaku was constructed using the finest materials available.
A single tatami mat alone was expensive enough to buy an entire house in the suburbs.
"You're very strong. I admire you. Would you be interested in becoming one of my generals?"
Though it was merely a bout of sparring, this was the most exhilarating fight Raiden Ei had experienced since the end of the Archon War.
Even though Bai Luo had committed many acts of offense, it did nothing to dampen her desire to recruit such a powerful individual.
Just like… the companions Makoto had once gathered.
What she didn't notice, however, was that the moment she said this, the expressions on both Bai Luo's and Yae Miko's faces became rather subtle.
"Ei, actually… he's an envoy from the nation of Snezhnaya. In other words, he's a subordinate of the Cryo Archon."
Yae Miko didn't find it strange that her close friend would say something like that.
Raiden Ei spent most of her time meditating within the Plane of Euthymia, with little attention paid to the outside world.
Even when Yae Miko personally came to visit her, it was usually the puppet Shogun who received her.
If not for Bai Luo's Sunsettia taking effect, she herself didn't know when she would have been able to see Raiden Ei again.
Perhaps through the Shogun, she knew that an envoy from Snezhnaya had arrived—but she could never have imagined that the person who had brazenly barged into the Tenshukaku and dared to swing a sword at her was that very envoy.
"Her subordinate, you say?"
Upon learning whose subordinate Bai Luo was, Raiden Ei instead showed a look of understanding.
Yet there was an unmistakable hint of regret in her tone.
Because she truly did admire Bai Luo.
Setting aside his strange ability to ignore all her defenses, just the combat power he displayed was enough to earn him a legendary reputation during the Archon War.
If she had encountered this man earlier, perhaps…
"Hm?"
She had been about to say more, but upon noticing the gradual changes occurring within Bai Luo, she struck.
"Extinction!"
Raiden Ei's movements flowed seamlessly, and in an instant, the entire Tenshukaku was engulfed in blade light.
Yet when those slashes passed through Bai Luo's body, they failed to inflict any real damage on him. Instead, it was the wall behind him that suffered.
That was because Bai Luo—now transformed into his Hei class—had activated quantization.
That's right. His quantum teleportation skill had finished cooling down and was ready to be used again.
He had originally intended to take advantage of the moment Raiden Ei was speaking to quietly activate quantization and escape—but he hadn't expected her to notice.
What he really didn't expect was that, just to stop him from fleeing, Raiden Ei would directly unleash a killing move.
If he had faced that strike using the Void Tyrant class, he would have been in serious trouble—unless he happened to draw a shield-type Void.
Creak… crack…
Raiden Ei's utterly unrestrained slash finally caused the already-shaky Tenshukaku to give way. The walls, covered in blade marks, began to fracture, and using the floor the three of them stood on as the base, all the structures above collapsed entirely.
Perhaps unwilling to let the debris interfere with their fight, Yae Miko—who had been watching for quite some time—finally made her move.
Magical energy coalesced into the shape of a fox, pushing all the falling rubble aside.
Fortunately, the soldiers stationed beneath the Tenshukaku were no ordinary people. Aside from a few who were struck by debris at close range, there were essentially no casualties.
But instead of relief, the people below felt their hearts tighten.
The Tenshukaku had practically been torn apart—just what kind of existence was the Shogun fighting?
Judging from the fox-shaped magical energy… was that Lady Guuji?
No matter how much those two might quarrel, surely they wouldn't go so far as to demolish their own home, right?
No matter how hard they racked their brains, they could never imagine that the one fighting Raiden Ei was actually the Snezhnayan envoy they had been treating as an honored guest.
Did Raiden Ei know about Bai Luo's teleportation ability?
In truth, she didn't—only Yae Miko knew he possessed such a skill.
However, Raiden Ei had previously fought Bai Luo when he used quantization, and she understood just how troublesome that technique was.
She also hadn't forgotten that Bai Luo's quantization carried a five-second cooldown.
The slash she had just unleashed was purely meant to force Bai Luo into using quantization.
But this seemingly casual move made Bai Luo suffer greatly.
Although Bai Luo's quantum teleportation appeared to complete the transfer in an instant, in reality it had a startup delay—
Specifically, the process where that strange eye appeared above the target's head.
During the skill's activation, he couldn't attack at all and could only take hits passively.
And if he moved or tried to dodge during the teleportation, the skill would be forcibly interrupted.
At that point, quantization would enter cooldown again, and he'd have to endure another ten miserable minutes.
Judging from the power behind Raiden Ei's attacks right now, trying to stall her using the Void Tyrant class was unlikely to work.
Perhaps only by cycling through all his classes would he have a chance of dealing with her.
So what he needed to do was find a way to make Raiden Ei stop attacking—and give him enough time to get through quantization's startup.
Heart of the Earthfire could be ruled out immediately; even an ordinary person could dodge its startup.
Only Childe—that iron-brained fool—had failed to recognize it the first time and gotten sent flying.
As for the Black-Clad Swordsman's Sonic Impact…
A glance around showed that the walls had already been obliterated by Raiden Ei's attacks, so there was no need to consider that either.
If he used Battousai, Kuzuryūsen (Nine-Head Dragon Flash) did have a one-second immobilization effect—but one second wasn't enough for a successful teleport.
What he needed was at least three seconds.
And that was just a conservative estimate. If Raiden Ei's hand speed was even faster than he expected, he'd be in deep trouble.
In the end, his gaze settled on Yae Miko.
He could still store one more Void. Maybe he could gamble on Yae Miko and see what kind of Void he could extract from her.
Finding a suitable angle, Bai Luo faced Raiden Ei's incoming slash. This time, instead of dodging with quantization, he used his dagger to block the strike—and by using her force, he flew straight toward Yae Miko.
Under Yae Miko's astonished gaze, a strange gleam appeared on her chest as well.
Is he trying to stab her?
. . . . .
