Chapter 772: Missile Truck
When Qi Hancai received the radio message last night, she was completely stunned.
Wu Heng had told her to organize a team immediately and come take over the Central Base.
She was in shock for quite a while back then.
She'd just changed her appearance and entered with the Central team during the day—and now she had to take over that same night?
Even in a regular unit, handovers weren't that fast!
At Qi Hancai's shocked reaction, Wu Heng motioned for her to calm down and explained, "No choice. They were collecting my photos to lock onto me for a satellite-guided precision strike using missiles."
Qi Hancai's eyes narrowed, her face instantly going serious. "Why?"
"Still about the land. If I die, the skeletons collapse and disappear. The land cleared of Zombies goes back to them," Wu Heng said.
Qi Hancai gritted her teeth. "Those bastards deserve to die."
Both sides had maintained ongoing transactions.
Not super close relations, but they'd been supplying each other steadily with food.
Given the current situation, accepting gold in exchange for food was already a form of aid.
Countless bases around the world had tried to connect and trade for food.
In the end, these people almost turned on them, killing their own leader.
"Relax, I already killed them," Wu Heng said with a smile.
Qi Hancai sat down across from him, one leg crossed, expression still serious. "This place isn't like our base. It's got deeply rooted hierarchies and power—might not be easy to manage."
"No need. I killed the entire management—clean sweep. Half the troops are dead too. Just promote some people and give them responsibility," Wu Heng said, sipping from his cup.
"You... you killed them all?"
Wu Heng nodded. "Commander, ministers, guard captains—all of them. Now they're skeletons sweeping the streets."
Qi Hancai took a deep breath to calm herself and asked, "So what should I mainly handle next? The army structure here probably differs from ours."
Wu Heng leaned back. "No problem. I'll assign you a deputy—she'll assist you."
"A deputy?" Qi Hancai raised an eyebrow.
Wu Heng pressed the intercom. "Lee Jinyoung, come over."
The door opened and the female deputy entered. She looked a bit tired, eyes still wary and cautious.
"Leader!" The deputy bowed to Wu Heng, then gave Qi Hancai a slight bow as well.
Wu Heng introduced her, "This is Qi Hancai. From now on, she's the base's main leader under me. You'll be her deputy. Do well—you'll find it's not worse than serving that old commander."
The deputy looked at Qi Hancai and said in Chinese, "Commander Qi Hancai."
"You speak Chinese?" Qi Hancai looked at her.
"I speak Chinese, English, and German," the deputy answered respectfully.
Qi Hancai nodded. "From now on, call me Deputy Leader, and address him as Leader."
"Yes, Deputy Leader Qi."
Qi Hancai continued, "You may go for now. Later, take me around and show me the departments."
The deputy bowed again and exited the room.
Once the door closed, Wu Heng said, "She used to be the Commander's deputy. Learn the territory through her, but be cautious—we still don't know if there are hidden problems."
"Understood. I'll keep an eye out."
Wu Heng smiled, stood up, and offered the chair. "Come, try sitting here."
Qi Hancai smiled back and confidently sat in the Commander's seat.
After feeling it out, she said, "Meh, nothing special. Not as comfy as my own chair."
"That's the feeling of power—you weren't invited to critique the chair."
Qi Hancai laughed, "From now on, we're the only ones calling the shots here, right, hubby?"
"Yes. You're the Commander now," Wu Heng said, lifting her chin and giving her a kiss from above.
As they pulled apart, Qi Hancai looked reluctant, licking her lips before saying, "Let's handle business first."
"Let's go. I want to check out the armory too."
The two of them walked out of the office.
Several people outside, including the deputy, saluted and followed.
Qi Hancai had the deputy show her several key departments, while Wu Heng headed straight to the armory.
...…
After inspecting the weapons and ammunition in the armory,
Wu Heng led his skeletons to the garage for special vehicles.
Armored vehicles and specialty function vehicles appeared one after another.
More than he'd ever captured in one go before. No wonder they dared to call themselves the Central Rescue Team—they had some real assets.
After the armored vehicles, he went to the missile truck storage.
Three missile trucks total, each housed in its own garage.
They looked like steel behemoths, radiating cold, imposing power.
The tires were taller than a man, camo-painted exteriors, thick armored steel plating, and long, bulky missile launch tubes on their backs.
Even if you just packed those launchers with regular explosives, they'd cause massive destruction.
Wu Heng looked at the body. It said Xuanwu-3.
He wasn't sure if that was the truck model or the missile's designation.
Once the base was fully under control, he'd have Qi Hancai find someone to check.
The three Wraiths appeared beside him.
Glenda asked, "So these are the precision strike missiles?"
"Should be these ones."
The Wraiths had seen bullets and shells before.
Wu Heng had explained some basics to them.
If even shells packed a punch, these enormous missiles could probably wipe out a city.
Xiaoxiao flew right into one missile, poked her head out halfway, and said, "Lots of wiring inside."
Wu Heng looked at her. "Xiaoxiao, get out! My heart can't take it. Don't mess around."
"What's there to be afraid of!" Xiaoxiao said, but obediently flew out anyway.
"You're not scared, but I am," Wu Heng clutched his chest.
"Hehe, fine, I won't go near it. Uncle, you're such a scaredy-cat." Xiaoxiao giggled, then floated halfway and asked, "Uncle, does this mean you can't go out anymore? What if other bases have missiles like this?"
That was a valid concern.
Within the country or abroad—who knew who might get ideas like that.
But it wasn't that simple. Missiles alone weren't enough; they needed satellites too.
Still, he'd have to stay alert.
"We'll keep a low profile. Besides, now we have satellites and missiles too. Mutually assured deterrence keeps things in check," Wu Heng said.
"Ohhh, didn't get that," Xiaoxiao replied.
Wu Heng finished inspecting the armory and deployed a large number of skeletons to seal the area.
Once that was handled—
He rejoined Qi Hancai and blended into the crowd as they toured several departments.
He also freed the skeletons he had previously assigned to study—finally rescued from the warehouse.
When the warehouse door opened, Wu Heng felt a pang in his chest.
The skeletons were covered in dust, staring at the wall projection endlessly looping the same video.
Damn it. If he didn't kill those people, it would've disgraced his skeletons' suffering.
He worked until dusk.
Only then did Wu Heng fully hand the base over to Qi Hancai and return to the senior staff dorms.
He picked a suite, opened a portal, and returned to Gold-Silver Island.
...…
After stepping through the portal, he let the three Wraiths go off and handle their own tasks.
Coming downstairs, Wu Heng saw the skeleton chef placing dinner on the table.
The maids looked over and smiled. "Master."
"Anything happen on the island while I was gone?" Wu Heng asked as he came down the stairs.
Andviel said, "Master, Leader Lilith bought a property on the island. You were away, so we didn't get a chance to report it."
