Chapter 807, The Victor Defines the Truth

Back in the surveillance room.

Wu Heng had the skeleton zoom in again on the footage of the thief's prison cell.

The thief now looked nothing like before—sleep was nowhere in sight.

He sat on the bed, fidgeting anxiously.

"Looks like he won't be getting any sleep tonight," Glenda said.

Judging by the man's state on screen, he might be up all night.

"Hmph! Scared now, huh? Serves him right for lying to us," Xiaoxiao said angrily.

"He won't last long anyway, why get worked up?" Benny chuckled.

"True!" Xiaoxiao nodded.

Wu Heng said, "It's better this way. He was so cooperative, I actually felt bad killing him."

"He's a killer. What's there to feel bad about?" Glenda snapped.

"It's just... my first time using a living person for an experiment. Bit of mental pressure," Wu Heng admitted.

Xiaoxiao leaned on his shoulder, "Uncle, he's a bad guy. It's okay."

"Even Xiaoxiao gets it," Glenda said.

"I was just saying—I'm not really going to let him go," Wu Heng added, leaning back with a stretch.

He shifted his gaze from the monitor, pondering how to extract more information from within the city.

It didn't have to be just the Second Prince's whereabouts—other level 18 Professionals, or even Secret Cult members could be targets.

Right now, he was acting as the Redwind Gang boss. Tomorrow, he would be delivering money to the Guard Commander.

Maybe he could use that to gather something valuable.

The three phantoms started chatting about Wu Qin's nickname. Wu Heng checked the time—it was already 11 PM.

He picked up the satellite phone and dialed Li Yanhong's number.

It rang twice before she picked up. "Hello?"

"It's me," Wu Heng said.

"Miss me already?" she laughed.

Ugh~!

The three phantoms all cringed.

Wu Heng waved them off and said, "Got a question for you."

"Go ahead."

"Do you have any tracking devices? Like in movies, ones that let you trace someone's location."

There was a two-second pause, then she said, "Yeah, some sketchy impounded cars even have those."

"Any usage requirements?"

"Not really. Now with satellites, you can just track them directly," she said.

So it required satellite positioning.

That meant it was useless in the other world.

"It has to use a satellite?"

"All the ones I know are GPS-based. If not satellite, how do you track the position?" she replied.

Seems like the tracker idea was a bust.

"Alright, got it," Wu Heng said.

"Need one? I can check tomorrow—most car dealers have them."

"Not for now. I'll call if I do."

"Okay."

"You get some rest. I'm good now."

He ended the call and set the satellite phone aside.

So tracking devices weren't a viable option.

They required satellites.

Totally unusable in the other world.

Guess he still had to rely on the phantoms to track people.

As the night deepened, Wu Heng rose and took the three phantoms back to the other world.

...…

Back at the Redwind Gang.

Doors and windows still sealed tight—nothing amiss.

Wu Heng released the phantoms, opened [Mansion Spell], and took a look inside.

Past the electromagnetic cannon,

the filthy girl was huddled in a corner, doing her best to stay away from the skeletons.

As the stone door opened, her tearful eyes looked over.

Full of suspicion and fear.

Wu Heng pulled out a bag of bread and snacks, placed them on the cabinet in front of her, and said, "You know how to eat, right?"

The girl's gaze darted around. She trembled and asked, "Are you going to turn me into a skeleton?"

Wu Heng frowned, "You're way too low-level. Maybe once you level up."

The girl frowned, puzzled, "But I don't level up. I don't have a class."

"Why do you think Rentam City are the bad guys?" Wu Heng sat opposite her.

"They're the ones doing evil, not us."

Out of nowhere, it was as if a child spoke again.

The girl flinched. "I never said you were bad—please don't kill me."

"Tell me, what did the Second Prince spread around?"

The girl looked down. Softly, she said, "That Rentam City led a skeleton army to attack the border, killed all the living, and turned the cities into undead strongholds."

So the Second Prince really invested in propaganda.

"You really won't kill me?" the girl asked again.

"Why would I? We've got no grudge," Wu Heng said, standing up. "Just stay here quietly for a few days. Then I'll let you go."

"Don't lie to me..."

Wu Heng said nothing, just left the [Mansion Spell]—the rift sealed shut.

"The lies haven't changed," Benny noted.

Back at Serted Fortress, the official story had been the same: Rentam City invaded during chaos, leaving only undead in its wake.

No need to change it—it worked well enough.

As Wu Heng made the bed, he said, "We talk behind his back too. Fair game."

"At least we're telling the truth. He's the one lying," Xiaoxiao added.

"Only the victor defines the truth," Wu Heng lay down and said. "I'm sleeping now. Watch the place."

The three phantoms nodded.

Wu Heng stared at the ceiling, deep in thought, and drifted off to sleep.

...…

Next morning.

Glenda, in a corpse body, sat before a mirror. "This body's too low-level—it's showing signs of rot."

"Cover it up. Unless you meet high-level Professionals, no one will notice. And change your movements—you're too feminine," Wu Heng said.

"I am a woman."

"You're playing a thug now," Wu Heng reminded her.

"I know," Glenda nodded.

Knock knock knock~!

The courtyard gate sounded.

Six or seven gang members walked in. "Boss, the wagon's ready."

Wu Heng nodded. "Go load the stuff—we're heading out."

They entered, carried three leather sacks filled with silver coins, and placed them on the wagon.

Just like an escort, the gang members accompanied the wagon onto the main road toward their destination.

After about ten minutes,

Benny flew back. "I see the guard building. Highest level is 14, others are 9s and 10s."

Wu Heng nodded. "You and Xiaoxiao keep eyes on it. Watch where the silver ends up and remember the layout."

"Got it," Benny replied and flew off to find Xiaoxiao.

Wu Heng cracked open the carriage window and watched as they left the main road, entering the guard compound from a rear entrance.

"Boss, we're here," someone called from outside.

"Got it."

He stepped down and saw a fully armed squad of soldiers ahead.

At the front stood a man in commander's armor, sword at his side, staring straight at the wagon.

Wu Heng smiled. "Sorry to keep you waiting, sir."

The commander narrowed his eyes and examined him top to bottom.

His brows furrowed slightly.
