Hey, Jinx here.
I've been re-reading the chapters I've written so far, and I'm going to be honest with you. I'm getting mentally tired trying to build a whole story for House of the Dragon before the actual main plot even starts. The show barely fleshes out that early period, which I understand because they want the story to move forward, but for me it's been irritating trying to make everything up from scratch while keeping the main, non-flashback storyline exactly how I want it.
So I decided something.
I'm going to separate the backstory into its own section and keep the main storyline separate. That way, people who don't want to read twelve years of buildup can jump straight into the present, and I can also take my time making the backstory without rushing. Covering twelve years worth of events while researching real-world history to make everything as realistic as possible for a Game of Thrones setting is a lot of work.
And for anyone who thinks the wishes were too overpowered, they really aren't. Yes, the Force is extremely powerful, but that applies to fully trained Jedi and Sith. Jeanyx isn't that. He's basically copying things he saw on TV and read on wiki pages. Will that still make him strong? Yes. Will that make him unkillable? No. It will just make him extremely hard to kill.
Another reason I added these powers and tools is simple. I need more paths to build storylines. The original series has massive timeskips, which means I either have to invent everything myself or borrow ideas and inspirations from other shows to fill in the gaps. So I'm allowing myself to get creative with it.
And one more thing, since I can't remember if I already wrote it in the story or not. Dragons in my version are resistant to magic and resistant to the Force. Not immune, but strong enough that Jeanyx can't just wave his hand and Force-control a dragon like it's some medieval stormtrooper.
That's the update. Now I'm going to get back to writing before my brain decides to clock out for the day.
