For now, Jason relied on localized power sources to meet initial communication needs, as larger construction projects required immense amounts of energy. Relying solely on modern diesel generators was becoming far too expensive. Unless coal mines or oil fields could be located within Westeros to support thermal power, the transition to a modern grid would remain a slow, deliberate process.
After transporting the 14th Division of the Engineering Construction Corps to Starfire City, Jason spent his days shuttling between the two worlds, moving the division's fleet of construction vehicles. He also ensured a steady supply of diesel, transported in massive iron fuel tanks from the modern side.
During a visit to the Central Military Region's base, Jason was left speechless by the sheer scale of the equipment waiting for him. General Xavier, a senior advisor, greeted him with a smile. "Mr. Jason, these 1,000 military trucks were purchased by Fusion Trading specifically for your needs. They will provide your army with the mobility required to conquer the Great Houses and consolidate your rule over the other territories".
General Xavier noted that these trucks had been specially modified to withstand the brutal, undeveloped road conditions of Westeros. The order, totaling over 200 million yuan, had been handled entirely by Jason's staff at Fusion Trading, leaving the manufacturers eager for continued partnership.
The Transport Brigade
Jason prepared to move the long lines of trucks, which were currently tethered together for transport. "Don't worry, Mr. Jason," General Xavier added. "We've also assigned 2,500 drivers and maintenance specialists to accompany the fleet".
Each truck was assigned two trained soldiers, while the remaining 500 personnel formed ten mobile maintenance units. Jason was relieved; having an expert advisory group meant he didn't have to worry about a vehicle breaking down with no one to fix it or sitting idle with no one to drive it. He could focus on his role as the "transport captain" while the professionals handled the logistics.
Once the 1,000 trucks arrived in Westeros, they occupied nearly half of the camp space. Under the direction of Colonel Logan, the auto-soldiers immediately began moving the fleet into the distant barracks.
Connecting Two Worlds
With the vehicles moved, Jason returned to the modern base to retrieve the communication team and their equipment. The newly established Zhongwei Communication Group was led by Mr. Wu, a deputy general manager transferred from a major mobile carrier.
Mr. Wu had been through rigorous security briefings and signed multiple non-disclosure agreements before learning the truth. When he found out he was being sent to the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, he was ecstatic. For him, the chance to lead a company destined to monopolize communications in a new world was a far better prospect than the stagnant corporate ladder back home.
"Hello, Mr. Wu. I'm Jason," Jason said, greeting the executive with a smile.
Mr. Wu shook his hand warmly. "Mr. Jason, I've admired your work for a long time. What you're doing will accelerate our nation's rejuvenation, and I thank you on behalf of all our citizens".
Jason shook his head humbly. "We all have to work together to help our country rise to the top again".
A Network in the North
Because Starfire City and Winterfell could not house the thousands of arriving technicians, Jason established a massive tent city outside the castle. Each camp featured signs written in both Chinese and the common tongue of Westeros, clearly marking the Zhongwei Communication Group's temporary headquarters.
Inside the camp, crates of instruments and materials for radio transmission base stations were piled high. These stations would utilize ultra-short wave transmissions, which offered high stability regardless of the season. While television was not yet feasible due to the lack of receivers and consistent power, mobile communication and radio broadcasting were the immediate priorities for the upcoming war efforts.
Since the people of Westeros knew nothing of radio technology, there was no risk of enemies intercepting or understanding the transmissions. Jason had specifically insisted on using high-quality hardware from trusted tech giants back home to ensure technical strength and quality.
According to the Expert Advisory Panel, establishing a communication network was the single most important industry to build first in Westeros.
