Sunset to Moonrise
As night fell, Qingming absorbed the training experiences of his shadow clones once again. This time, a technique on his panel finally advanced.
Opening his eyes, Qingming stood up, leapt swiftly, and returned to where his clones were training. He immediately formed a hand seal and summoned a shadow clone. After letting it walk away, he quickly formed more seals and unleashed another jutsu: Water Style: Great Shark Bullet Technique.
Indeed, after half a month of practice, his Water Style: Great Shark Bullet Technique finally advanced from Level 8 (41700/50000) to Level 9 (0/0).
(A quick correction: In Chapter 645, the technique on the verge of leveling up should have been the Water Style: Great Shark Bullet Technique, not Wind Style: Rasenshuriken. The latter still requires another month of training.)
Now perfected, the Great Shark Bullet Technique appeared much the same outwardly—a large shark-shaped water projectile. However, Qingming could sense its stability and power had dramatically improved.
This newfound stability meant the technique could now absorb much stronger jutsu.
Example in Action:
From afar, his shadow clone saw the oncoming water shark projectile. The clone quickly gathered chakra and unleashed Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique.
A massive fireball, over 20 meters in diameter, burst forth and rotated with ferocity. Despite its impressive power, comparable to high-tier B-rank techniques, it was swallowed whole by the water shark in less than a second.
If the jutsu had been of another elemental type, the process would have been even faster.
This advancement to Level 9 had elevated the Great Shark Bullet Technique to an entirely new tier.
Improvements:
Enhanced Efficiency:
The shark projectile now absorbed chakra with far greater efficiency. The fireball it consumed earlier caused the shark's size to increase significantly, adding an intimidating presence.
Stronger Attack Power:
While its primary purpose wasn't offense, the enhanced power was a welcome upgrade.
Deeper Water Chakra Mastery:
Advancing the technique also enhanced Qingming's understanding of water chakra's properties.
These improvements further benefited other skills, such as:
Chakra Control: Its proficiency bar rose significantly, surpassing the 60% threshold.
Water Style: Exploding Water Shockwave:
Previously maxed out at Level 7 (0/0), this technique could now progress further, starting from Level 7 (1/20000). It had also evolved into Water Style: Great Exploding Water Shockwave, an A-rank technique.
Qingming had intended to acquire this advanced jutsu after dealing with Danzo. Now, it was no longer necessary.
Testing the Evolved Technique
Qingming formed a seal, unleashing Water Style: Great Exploding Water Shockwave.
A massive water sphere expanded rapidly, covering a one-kilometer radius. Within moments, the surrounding terrain transformed into a vast underwater battleground.
However, unlike Kisame, Qingming lacked gills to breathe underwater. As a result, he couldn't maintain the technique for long periods, limiting its full potential.
Perhaps one day, through the power of Heaven's Mandate, I can evolve to breathe underwater or develop anaerobic respiration, he mused.
Even so, the technique's sheer ability to alter terrain made it a valuable asset.
Training Efficiency:
Qingming estimated the chakra cost per point of proficiency for this technique. On average, it required 120 chakra points to gain 1 point of proficiency.
Thus, even with the 87,000 chakra points saved daily from perfecting the Great Shark Bullet Technique, mastering the Great Exploding Water Shockwave would still take three months.
Given his upcoming confrontation with Danzo, this timeline made focusing on this technique impractical.
Considering Other Options:
Wind Style: Rasenshuriken:
Currently at Level 9 (53581/100000), advancing this jutsu would require over 46,000 proficiency points. Even with daily savings, it would take at least 18 days—too long for the imminent battle.
Chakra Cloak:
Now at Level 8 (31500/50000), this technique could advance in just 10 days with the daily chakra savings. This timeframe was reasonable, and a Level 9 cloak would significantly enhance his safety against Danzo.
Decision:
Qingming chose to focus on improving the Chakra Cloak. Its potential defensive enhancements would provide critical advantages during the battle.
Of course, he remained flexible, knowing that circumstances could shift. With his current power, Danzo posed no real threat.
For now, I'll stick to this plan.
With that, Qingming relocated to a quieter spot and resumed training.
