A smile crept on her face when she stood in front of the door. She adjusted her hair and dress before opening the door. The moonlight lit the room as the cold air filled it.
Veronica smirked when her gaze fell on Alex. It had finally happened. She has gotten the man of her dreams, and there was nothing anyone could do.
She slipped into bed. Alex stirred in his sleep. His eyes gently opened as he faced his wife.
He furrowed his brows. Something wasnt right, but he couldn't put a finger on it.
"Bathroom?" he asked with his sleepy voice.
Veronica nodded at him and scooped him into his arms. His jaw clenched and unclenched. This wasnt his wife. He wasn't dumb. He knew Avery if his eyes were closed.
His heart dropped when he remembered what Avery said. He looked down at her hair. Was this Veronica? What has he done? Where is Avery?

The holiday had ended, and bags were packed into the trunks of their cars. Emerade had to leave first because of her mother. Erica leaned against her car and smirked. Her eyes stared down at Avery. She pushed herself off the car and walked towards her.
Veronica turned to her. "Anything wrong, Erica?" she questioned
Erica licked her teeth and smiled. "Yeah, Avery. What happened to the cheesecake last night? You said you wanted that slice," she asked with her head tilted.
Veronica sighed in relief. She thought Erica had caught up on her. She smiled and said,
"Um, they're in the kitchen. I can get it if you want."
"No, let's leave it for the workers. They did a good job taking care of us."

Alex hopped out of the jeep. First of all, he needs to find his wife, and then he'll deal with Veronica. He clenched his fists. He can't believe he doubted his wife. He is such a moron for that. He gritted his teeth and slammed the bedroom door.
Veronica scoffed.
"What's his problem?" she muttered under her breath.
Her eyes darkened as she walked around the house. She has to know everything before someone suspects her. And there can't be any mistake. She halted in her steps when she came face-to-face with a portrait of Avery and Alex.
"Very soon, Avery, I am going to end you. Just wait."
"FUCK!!" Veronica screamed. She placed her hand on her chest to calm her heartbeat.
She shot Max with a bloodshot eye. "What the fuck, Maximus. Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" She questioned.
Max smirked at her and walked towards her.
"Did you miss me, Avery. I bet he couldn't satisfy you. Right?"
"Fuck off," she said and walked away.
