Chapter 706: Second Form of the Thunder Body: The Heavenly Tyrant Dharma Body
Boom! Boom!
Above the Heavenly River, layers of spirit clouds gathered into dense masses. Bursts of radiant lightning occasionally flashed within them, the deep rumble of thunder echoing across the heavens, filling the world with an oppressive, heart-trembling pressure.
The raging waters of the Heavenly River gradually calmed, as if suppressed by the power of heaven and earth.
Mo Yu lifted his head. The spirit clouds shimmered with multicolored lightning—each bolt condensed from the world's purest energy, each radiating awe-inspiring force. Even a lower-tier Earth Supreme would not dare to take them lightly.
Behind Mo Yu stood his colossal silver form—the Heavenly Tyrant Thunder Body—gleaming with silver-white light, wrapped in the aura of boundless destruction.
This was the second form of his Heavenly Tyrant Thunder Physique, and though it was not ranked among the ninety-nine Supreme Dharma Bodies, it easily rivaled the upper tiers among them.
A faint smile crossed Mo Yu's lips. He wanted to see for himself just how powerful this Heavenly Tyrant Dharma Body truly was.
Rumble…
The world fell into silence, broken only by the sky's rolling thunder. After several tense minutes, the dense clouds above began to churn violently. In the next instant, the clouds split apart and a brilliant bolt of lightning fell from the heavens.
Boom!
That radiant thunderbolt, nearly a hundred feet thick, crashed downward like a multi-colored dragon roaring its fury. Its descent tore through space itself, distorting vision and reality alike.
In the blink of an eye, it tore through the air toward Mo Yu, slamming straight down upon the Heavenly Tyrant Dharma Body.
Mo Yu reacted instantly. His mind focused as the Dharma Body roared to the skies, and raging lightning erupted from its frame like a storm unleashed.
A column of lightning burst from its mouth—pure, unrestrained thunder power.
Boom!
The bolt collided with the divine lightning. The impact cratered space itself, and blinding waves of energy rippled outward like a cosmic tsunami. The entire river sank several feet under the pressure as towering waves erupted skyward.
For several long minutes, light and thunder clashed fiercely before both began to fade.
"Oh? That's Mo Yu's Dharma Body? Such power—it's even stronger than the Grand Celestial King Dharma Body ranked forty-fifth. This might well rank within the top thirty among the Supreme Dharma Bodies."
The Wind Emperor stared upward in awe.
He had assumed Mo Yu had never cultivated a Dharma Body before arriving in the Great Thousand World, yet the second form of his Heavenly Tyrant Thunder Body proved to be incredibly formidable indeed.
"No wonder he bears the name Thunder Emperor," the Wind Emperor murmured. "But beware—there are nine bolts in total, each stronger than the last. What you faced was only the first."
Even as he spoke, the clouds rolled again, darker and heavier than before. Lightning flared like a dragon's scales beneath the clouds.
Boom!
The sky split again, and an even larger bolt of lightning crashed downward, aiming directly for Mo Yu's Dharma Body.
Mo Yu struck a hand seal. His Heavenly Tyrant Body erupted in dazzling radiance, forming a massive dome of lightning overhead. Energy rippled across its surface, dense and terrifying.
He chose to defend.
Bang!
The divine thunder slammed into the barrier. Cracks splintered across its surface at once.
Mo Yu frowned, but before he could respond, a third thunderbolt—several times larger than the last two—descended in fury.
Crack! Crack!
The barrier shattered instantly, and the blazing bolt struck his Dharma Body with earth-shaking force. The light from the Heavenly Tyrant Body dimmed; blood sprayed from Mo Yu's mouth.
Boom! Boom!
The sky raged again—this time, two bolts fell simultaneously.
Mo Yu's expression hardened. Drawing upon his core of Profound Lightning, he forged immense thunder swords a thousand feet long. His energy surged endlessly into them.
Boom!
The thunder swords met the twin bolts head-on. Explosions shook the air; arcs of light tore through cloud and flame. Slowly, the lightning weakened under his relentless strikes—until finally, both bolts dissipated.
Mo Yu exhaled softly. "So far, so good."
But the heavens were not done.
Boom!
Just as he allowed himself a breath of relief, the remnants of the dispersed lightning exploded, forming yet another bolt. It plunged down like a lance of divine wrath.
Three bolts in one tribulation!
It fell in an instant—but before it could strike, Mo Yu flicked his sleeve.
The Gate of Death opened, swallowing the incoming lightning and sealing it away.
"Cunning thing," Mo Yu muttered with a faint smirk. Without such preparation, it might have caught him off guard.
"Then that leaves only four bolts remaining."
Raising his hand, he called upon the power of thirteen Profound Thunders, fusing them into multicolored lightning blades. His Heavenly Tyrant Body flared again, wrapping him in impregnable light.
Prepared now with every defense, he resolved to withstand whatever the heavens had left to offer.
Time passed as the sky continued to convulse. One after another, increasingly ferocious bolts of lightning rained down. Mo Yu fought them all head-on, each time barely emerging standing but never faltering.
Half an hour later, the eighth bolt faded at last.
But Mo Yu's complexion had grown pale. His body was etched with faint shimmering colors—the marks of divine lightning.
Those multicolored streaks were corrosive energies; left unchecked, they would seep into one's power and cause devastating damage. Mo Yu focused his energy to purge them slowly.
His Heavenly Tyrant Body grew dim as well, drained from repelling the previous storms.
"Eight bolts finished… only one remains."
He lifted his head toward the thinning clouds. Despite being the last, this final lightning held far greater pressure than all before it. It had been gathering too long—its force would surpass them all combined.
Buzz…
The heavens grew still again. Then, in the darkened sky, the clouds erupted in blinding, multihued light. Space distorted. The clouds twisted, condensing into a magnificent shape—
A dragon of light and thunder.
Its vast serpentine body coiled through the heavens, eyes gleaming with divine judgment as its gaze fixed on Mo Yu.
Even the Wind Emperor's face changed. "It's taken form?" he whispered. "The ninth tribulation—manifested into a true lightning dragon?"
Very few ever triggered a transformation. Only those with supreme Dharma Bodies could force the Spirit Tribulation to adopt a physical form.
"The power of Mo Yu's Dharma Body is astonishing," he murmured, awed. "It even caused the heavenly tribulation to manifest."
Roar!
The lightning dragon raised its head and loosed a deafening roar as it dove, its descent shattering the sky itself.
The Heavenly River split apart, a canyon tens of thousands of feet deep opening beneath the thunder's wrath.
Boom!
Mo Yu lifted his hand, sending forth the Profound Thunder Sword. Bolts of lightning, ten thousand feet long, swept up in retaliation.
He opened his mouth, releasing a sea of pure thunderlight—waves of destruction crashing upward like an ocean seeking to devour the heavens.
Crash! Crash!
But the moment they met, the dragon tore through his attacks as if they were paper. The waves split; the sky burned white.
The Wind Emperor's face paled. Every prior tribulation had been withstood, but before this ninth—the dragon-shaped bolt—Mo Yu's strength seemed meaningless.
Boom!
His defenses shattered. The thunder dragon descended directly onto him.
The air screamed as it fell. Blood burst from Mo Yu's body, dyeing him crimson. Still, he did not move. His consciousness fully merged with the Heavenly Tyrant Body.
He was preparing his ultimate ability.
A hundred feet. Fifty. Ten—
Then, as the dragon neared, Mo Yu's eyes snapped open. His silver pupils blazed like twin suns of lightning.
He formed a seal, and the Heavenly Tyrant Body mirrored him.
Whoosh!
Blinding silver light erupted, condensing into an immense thunderous core—a beating heart of lightning.
The glowing orb pulsed rhythmically, each throb producing a deep thunderclap that made the air vibrate.
Mo Yu raised his head, eyes locked on the dragon's descent, and whispered,
"Heavenly Tyrant Dharma Body—Heart of Thunder."
Closing his fingers into a fist, he thrust his hand forward.
The heart-launching burst of energy transformed into a massive whirlpool of lightning.
Boom!
The very instant it formed, the dragon struck.
The collision tore the world apart.
Light exploded, flooding the heavens like a newborn sun. An indescribable wave of destruction surged outward, obliterating the landscape. Space shattered into dust. The Heavenly River collapsed inward, leaving a vast crater tens of thousands of feet wide.
The Wind Emperor threw up a barrier to shield himself from the tempest.
The divine storm raged for nearly fifteen long minutes before finally beginning to subside.
As silence returned, the Wind Emperor raised his eyes toward the sky where Mo Yu had been standing, his expression grim.
Had Mo Yu survived… or fallen beneath the might of the Ninth Spirit Tribulation?
