Chapter 708: The Eighth-Grade Supreme, Shocking the Audience
"The Yuchang Family must have their reasons for this choice. After all, this duel will determine their entire family's fate."
The moment Mo Yu appeared on the Golden Platform, an uproar rippled through the crowd. Countless curious and doubtful gazes fell upon him.
From the Gongshu Family's seats, Gongshu Zan frowned deeply. "Wait… that man—wasn't he with Yuchang Ran's convoy back then? Don't tell me… they brought that guy here?"
A carriage driver, of all things! The idea was laughable.
Even if they wanted someone to throw their life away, they could have picked better.
But could it be that Yuchang Family truly believed this young man could face his father?
Seated beside him, a blood-robed elder kept his eyes half-closed, seemingly indifferent to the noise around him. Yet the oppressive aura he exuded made it clear—this was no ordinary figure, but someone from the Blood God Clan.
After noticing Gongshu Zan's unease, the elder cracked open one blood-hued eye. Glancing briefly at Mo Yu, he said hoarsely, "That boy… his power's difficult to discern. I can't tell where the Yuchang Family found him."
"Oh?" Gongshu Zan's tone shifted with alarm. For this old monster to speak in such terms meant something. "So you mean Father's not certain to win?"
"Gongshu Qiu attained the Eighth-Grade Supreme Realm with our clan's assistance. Even among my Blood God Clan, that level of strength ranks high.
As for the boy—his energy is hidden. He may be cloaking his realm with a special cultivation technique. Still, the patriarch's odds are good."
Having finished, the elder closed his eyes again like nothing had been said.
Relieved, Gongshu Zan smirked coldly. His mind was already painting the image of the Yuchang Family kneeling before them in defeat.
Down on the Golden Platform, Gongshu Qiu glared at Mo Yu, his gaze sharp as steel. "The Yuchang Family sends a child? Are you so desperate? Speak your name, boy."
Mo Yu smiled, unaffected by the arrogance in his tone. "Mo Yu."
"Mo Yu?" Gongshu Qiu frowned. "Never heard of you."
He knew nearly every notable cultivator across the Ten-Thousand Armaments Continent, even many from the Western Heaven Realm. This name, however, was not among them.
A wave of relief calmed him. If he hadn't heard of this youth, then there was nothing to fear. Clearly, the Yuchang Family had sent this one to die.
"Since you seem ignorant of your impending death, I'll be merciful. Ten breaths to leave, or I'll break you myself," Gongshu Qiu said, his voice icy.
"No need for ten breaths," Mo Yu replied evenly. "Let's begin."
"Hmph. You have chosen death! Don't blame me for being… thorough."
Even so, Gongshu Qiu felt a trace of unease watching Mo Yu's calm demeanor. Shaking it off, he thrust out his sleeve.
The sky twisted at once, and an overwhelming tide of energy pressed down from above, shaking heaven and earth.
Bang! Bang!
The clouds exploded, space distorting under the force. Jagged rifts tore across the heavens like dark, writhing serpents.
Then Gongshu Qiu raised his hand—those black cracks gathered in his palm, forming serpentine patterns that pulsed with dreadful might.
He was wielding spatial power.
"Master of space… the Eighth-Grade Supreme!"
Gasps erupted from every corner of the arena. To command the power of space was the privilege of Eighth-Grade Supremes. Gongshu Qiu's advancement was now undeniable.
From the spectator stands, Yuchang Yuan and his elders exchanged bitter looks. Even forewarned, witnessing such strength firsthand left them shaken.
"As expected," Yuchang Yuan sighed softly, "Gongshu Qiu has truly ascended to Eighth-Grade Supreme."
Among all the continent's great powers, most top experts were Seventh-Grade Supremes. Gongshu Qiu's attainment now placed him leagues above them.
Thoughts darkened across every Yuchang face—could Mo Yu truly stand against this monstrous power?
On the field, Gongshu Qiu smirked and flicked a finger. The black serpents of space vanished into thin air.
Boom!
The realm around Mo Yu distorted wildly. Dark fissures tore through reality, slashing toward him like the blades of another dimension. They emitted no loud impact, but the danger they embodied far surpassed any worldly attack.
Even a Fifth-Grade Supreme would be ripped apart instantly.
Speed was meaningless. No one could outrun the tearing of space itself.
Such was the invincibility of an Eighth-Grade Supreme.
Yet Mo Yu's expression never changed. Raising one hand before him, he smiled faintly—and the air around him also began to twist.
Ripples shimmered outward. One after another, black rifts opened beside him—his own spatial tears—colliding head-on with those Gongshu Qiu had unleashed.
Sizzle.
Sizzle.
Sizzle.
The cracks met and annihilated each other silently, vanishing into nothingness.
"He's also… commanding space?!"
"That boy—he's an Eighth-Grade Supreme too!"
The entire battlefield erupted in shock. Mo Yu had dispelled a spatial strike with equal mastery.
The Yuchang Family's supposed youth was in fact an Eighth-Grade Supreme.
"Mr. Mo Yu!" Yuchang Jian exclaimed, eyes wide. "Truly extraordinary! No wonder he crossed from another plane."
"Yes," said the Grand Elder, beaming. "He's young and already achieved equality with an Eighth-Grade Supreme. Heaven indeed favors the Yuchang Family!"
"Don't celebrate too soon," Yuchang Yuan warned calmly. "The fight's only begun—this will be no ordinary battle."
Though evenly matched in level, Gongshu Qiu was a cunning veteran. It was far too early to declare victory.
"I still think Mr. Mo Yu will win," Yuchang Ran said softly. "He's too calm… as if his strength goes beyond even the Eighth Grade."
The elders exchanged uneasy glances at her words. Beyond Eighth Grade? That would mean—
No. Impossible. The thought sent chills through them. Earth Supremes were forces that ruled nations. For someone newly risen from the lower worlds to have reached that height so soon—it defied reason.
They turned their full focus back to the unfolding duel.
On the field, Gongshu Qiu squinted. "You too? Another Eighth-Grade Supreme…" His surprise melted into a thin, predatory smile.
So the Yuchang Family had prepared after all.
But Gongshu Qiu had not clawed his way to power on talent alone. He'd sacrificed even his own bloodline to gain the Blood God Clan's blessing—he had no intention of losing now.
"Interesting," he said coolly. "It's been long since I battled a worthy foe. Let's see if my hands are still sharp."
"Enough talk," Mo Yu said simply. "Make your move."
Smiling coldly, Gongshu Qiu closed his eyes. The sky shuddered. Behind him, space warped into a colossal vortex that drank in all surrounding energy.
From that singularity emerged a form—thousands of feet tall, gleaming with shadowed brilliance—a Supreme Dharma Body.
The giant sat cross-legged, its physique dense and real rather than illusionary. Wrapped around its frame was a massive black serpent, its jaws open wide as though to devour heaven and earth.
The appearance of the Demonic Python Dharma Body made the entire arena quiver under its aura.
Hiss!
The serpent's tongue flickered. The air trembled; the platform cracked under the sheer pressure.
Gasps spread.
"The… Demonic Python Dharma Body?!"
The terrifying body radiated such force that even from afar, powerhouses felt their souls shaken. Though unlisted among the official ninety-nine Supreme Bodies, its might was easily comparable to those near the ranking's end.
Now, countless eyes turned to Mo Yu. What of his Dharma Body?
"Show me your Dharma Body," Gongshu Qiu ordered coldly.
Mo Yu clasped his hands behind his back, speaking lightly. "You don't deserve to see it."
His words detonated like thunder in the audience. Shock rippled across every face—how could someone address an Eighth-Grade Supreme so arrogantly?
Even the Blood God elder cracked an eye open, astonished. Not even he would dare utter such blasphemy against one of equal rank.
"You insolent brat!" Gongshu Qiu snarled, his composure fracturing. "Die, then!"
At his stomp, the massive serpent coiled around his Dharma Body tilted its head and opened its gaping maw—sucking in chunks of space itself.
Boom! Boom!
The air fractured, thousands of spatial shards swirling into its mouth before it roared, spewing them back out in a tidal wave of darkness.
Serpent's Breath!
Whoosh!
The onrushing tide—fused with shards of space—pierced through reality itself, obliterating the air between him and Mo Yu. Anything that met it would disintegrate utterly.
The onlookers held their breath, certain Mo Yu couldn't possibly block such power.
But Mo Yu merely extended a single palm, lips curving faintly.
He closed his fingers.
Crack!
Time itself seemed to halt. The roaring flood froze midair—then shattered like fragile glass, scattering into harmless fragments that faded from existence.
Every spectator gawked in disbelief, their jaws falling open. The entire arena fell silent, stunned beyond words.
The Eighth-Grade Supreme's full strike—had been undone with a mere gesture.
