Gladion clenched his fist tightly, and the keystone on his bracelet began to glow brightly with powerful energy.
He looked straight at his partner with pride and determination. "Let's break every boundary once again, Colossus. Mega Evolve!"
A brilliant light erupted from both Gladion's keystone and the Tyranitar. Massive amounts of energy swirled around Colossus.
Gladion's voice rose, "Let's show Sabrina and Alakazam true strength! Show them why you were given the name Colossus!"
The light intensified even more, and Colossus let out a thunderous roar that echoed across the entire arena. His body started transforming into his Mega form right before everyone's eyes.
As Mega Tyranitar, the spikes on his back had grown even larger to the point that his back had split open slightly to make room for them. He had grown larger overall, becoming even more imposing than before.
The diamond-shaped scales on his body had turned completely red, giving him a fierce and unstoppable appearance. The already alpha Tyranitar now looked like a true mountain of power.
While all this was happening, Sabrina had not been idle. She had ordered her Mega Alakazam to use Calm Mind twice during Colossus's mega evolution.
Each Calm Mind raised both its special attack and special defense by one stage. By using it twice, Alakazam had boosted those stats significantly.
Gladion noticed what Sabrina was doing and thought to himself with amusement, 'Now that's just bad manners to use stat increasing moves while one is giving a speech about mega evolving. It's supposed to be the cool part.'
Mega evolution moments were meant to be dramatic and impressive. But here Sabrina was calmly powering up her Pokemon in the middle of his big speech.
Gladion gave his first command after the mega evolution finished. "Hyper Beam Gun."
Sabrina looked confused by the unusual move name. 'What does he mean by Hyper Beam Gun?' she wondered. She soon understood exactly what it meant.
Colossus's mouth glowed for a split second before he fired a small beam of Hyper Beam energy. The beam was short and ended after just a second. It was not the usual long powerful beam people expected.
Alakazam teleported out of the way quickly, but the area where it had been standing exploded with force. The explosion was as strong as if a normal Pokemon had fired a full powered Hyper Beam. The blast left a crater in the rocky field and sent dust flying everywhere.
Another small beam of Hyper Beam was fired right after, and then another, and another. Colossus fired them like a machine gun in rapid bursts.
Explosions lit up the arena one after another as the small but powerful beams kept coming. The crowd gasped and cheered at the incredible new way of using the move.
Sabrina had ordered Alakazam to use Future Sight earlier. The psychic Pokemon used this to predict where the beams would go and dodge them carefully.
It teleported again and again to escape, but one Hyper Beam shot was already waiting at the new spot. The beam collided with the ground right next to Alakazam and created a big explosion. When the smoke cleared, Alakazam stood with some burns on its body. It looked hurt but still ready to fight.
'Hmm, that Calm Mind defense boost has managed to reduce the damage,' Gladion thought. He was impressed by how well Sabrina had prepared her Pokemon. The extra special defense was clearly helping Alakazam survive the strong attacks.
The Future Sight attack that Alakazam had prepared then landed on Colossus. The delayed psychic power struck the Mega Tyranitar directly. However, Colossus just stood there and took it like a professional. He did not even flinch much. He shook his head once and grinned, showing he was barely affected.
"Recover," Sabrina said quickly.
Mega Alakazam healed itself using the move. Green energy flowed over its body and the burns started to fade. It looked much better after a few seconds and floated higher with renewed strength.
Sabrina decided to try a different type of attack. "Since psychic type moves are not going to work, how about fairy type. Dazzling Gleam," she ordered.
A bright beam of fairy type energy shot straight at Colossus. The attack glowed with beautiful pink and white light. Colossus smirked confidently.
An iron sheen took over his body as he used Iron Defense. His rocky armor became even harder and shinier. The Dazzling Gleam hit him directly but left not even a scratch this time. Colossus did not move even one step back. He stood completely firm like a mountain.
Sabrina looked shocked. She could not believe that one of her strongest moves had done almost nothing to the Mega Tyranitar.
Gladion spoke up to explain with a calm voice. "Colossus has been taking on moves of Latios and Latias in their spars so do not be surprised." He wanted Sabrina to understand just how much training his Pokemon had gone through.
Those legendary Pokemon were incredibly powerful, so normal attacks like this felt weak in comparison.
Sabrina was now getting restless. She was losing her usual calm composure as she saw her strongest moves from her strongest Pokemon failing against Gladion's Mega Tyranitar. Her hands clenched at her sides and her breathing became faster. The gap in power felt wider than ever, and it frustrated her.
"Hyper Beam, full power," Sabrina said with determination. She poured her own psychic energy into Alakazam to increase its energy capacity.
Mega Alakazam charged a massive Hyper Beam, gathering huge amounts of power between its spoons. The energy glowed brightly and grew larger with every second.
Gladion smirked confidently. "Bring it on Sabrina. Giga Impact!"
Colossus roared loudly as purplish energy surrounded his entire body. He started running forward with the energy growing stronger by the second.
The battlefield shook under his heavy steps. Each footfall created cracks in the rocky ground as he charged like an unstoppable force. The purplish aura made him look even more powerful and dangerous.
Mega Alakazam fired the full powered Hyper Beam. A thick beam of energy shot toward Colossus with incredible force.
To everyone's shock, Colossus ran straight at it with great speed and power. He charged through the Hyper Beam as if it was just a minor inconvenience.
The beam parted around his purplish Giga Impact energy and could not stop his advance.
Colossus slammed directly into Mega Alakazam with full force. The impact sent the psychic Pokemon flying backward across the field.
Alakazam crashed hard into the arena barriers. The strong psychic shields cracked apart from the collision as Alakazam slammed into them.
With that final hit, Alakazam's mega evolution ended. The powerful form faded away, and the Pokemon fell unconscious on the ground, unable to continue the battle.
