Gladion waited for the right opportunity to have Latias and Latios fire their Hyper Beam.
His eyes never left Regigigas.
Every movement of the ancient Legendary was carefully observed. Every step, every swing of its massive arms, and every attempt to break through the combined efforts of his Pokémon was analyzed in an instant.
Gladion knew that he would only have one chance. A mistake would allow Regigigas to evade the attack, and charging two full powered Hyper Beams again would take far too long and too much energy.
'Just a little longer,' he thought as he watched the battlefield. 'One clean opening. That is all I need.'
Regigigas suddenly pushed Mega Colossus backward with overwhelming force. The Alpha Tyranitar dug his feet into the earth, leaving long trenches behind him, but the Legendary had finally regained some freedom.
Gladion's eyes narrowed.
'Now.'
"Ultron!" he shouted. "Hold it in place for a second! Guy, Colossus, Rhyperior, back off! Colossus, use Sand Tomb! Afterwards, Rhyperior, use Rock Tomb!"
Every Pokémon moved without hesitation.
Ultron's crimson eyes glowed brighter than ever before.
The silver Metagross floated higher into the air as an unbelievable amount of psychic energy burst from its body. Invisible waves distorted the air itself as the full force of its Psychic crashed into Regigigas.
At the same moment, Gladion closed his own eyes.
Purple psychic energy slowly surrounded his body.
His own psychic abilities answered Ultron's.
He reached out with his mind, connecting his power with that of his partner.
The pressure around them immediately doubled.
Ultron felt the additional strength flowing into its attack. Its psychic grip became even stronger.
Regigigas suddenly stopped moving. Not because it wanted to but because it could not.
Its enormous arms trembled as invisible force wrapped around every part of its body.
The Legendary strained against the psychic restraint. The ground beneath its feet cracked from the effort.
The restraint would never last long. Gladion and Ultron knew that. Even Regigigas knew that. But they did not need minutes. They only needed seconds.
"Move!" Gladion ordered.
Guy immediately released his position and jumped backward with incredible speed.
Mega Colossus also retreated, his giant body shaking the ground with every step as he created distance between himself and the trapped Legendary.
Rhyperior followed immediately afterward, rolling away before regaining his footing beside Gladion.
Ultron continued pouring every ounce of psychic power into the restraint.
The steel Pokémon actually groaned under the effort. Even with Gladion supporting him, holding Regigigas completely still was almost impossible.
Small cracks spread across the ground as the Legendary slowly began forcing one arm downward.
Sweat appeared on Gladion's forehead.
'Just one more second.'
Mega Colossus suddenly roared.
The Alpha Tyranitar opened his mouth and used Sand Tomb.
The sandstorm that had been raging throughout the battle suddenly answered its master.
Countless grains of sand stopped swirling randomly. Instead, they rushed toward Regigigas from every direction. The sand wrapped around the Legendary's enormous body. Layer after layer.
More and more sand gathered until the giant Pokémon completely disappeared beneath it.
The swirling sand compressed tightly. It resembled a gigantic version of Gaara's Sand Burial.
Gladion did not waste the opportunity.
"Rhyperior!"
The Ground and Rock type stepped forward.
His horn glowed.
Massive boulders erupted from the shattered valley.
Hundreds of enormous rocks flew through the air as it used Rock Tomb.
The attack crashed directly into the enormous sphere of compressed sand.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Each boulder embedded itself into the Sand Tomb. Soon, the outside became completely covered with layers upon layers of solid rock.
The prison grew larger.
The sand held the rocks together while the rocks reinforced the sand.
Within moments, Regigigas had disappeared inside what looked like a small rocky mountain.
The valley became strangely quiet. Only the rumbling from inside the prison continued.
Ultron's eyes dimmed slightly. The psychic restraint finally disappeared. The prison now had to hold on its own.
Gladion immediately gave his next command.
"Ultron, teleport everyone!"
Blue psychic light flashed across the battlefield. Mega Colossus disappeared.
Guy disappeared. Rhyperior disappeared. Gladion disappeared himself. Ultron vanished last.
Every one of them immediately looked toward the enormous rocky prison.
The entire structure was shaking.
Deep cracks slowly spread across its surface. Regigigas was already breaking free.
Gladion smiled. "Perfect timing."
He looked toward the sky.
High above the battlefield, Latios and Latias had finally finished charging.
The amount of energy surrounding the two Legendary dragons was unbelievable.
The air itself seemed to vibrate.
The Hyper Beams had reached their limit.
Gladion took one deep breath. Then he raised his arm.
"NOW! LATIOS! LATIAS! FIRE!"
Both dragons opened their mouths simultaneously.
Two gigantic pillars of golden energy erupted from the sky.
The beams descended like divine judgment.
Temperature around them rose instantly. Gladion felt his skin burning despite the enormous distance.
Without hesitation, Gladion released his own psychic power. A transparent psychic barrier appeared before him.
"Ultron!"
The Metagross immediately added another layer of psychic protection.
The combined barrier became much stronger. Even then, it trembled under the intense heat.
High above, Latios and Latias instinctively placed psychic barriers on Galdion and the others as well. They placed psychic barriers around them too.
Even the users of the attack needed protection from the incredible energy they were unleashing.
Below them...
The rocky prison exploded.
Regigigas had finally broken through. Millions of tons of sand and stone burst outward.
The ancient Legendary emerged with a mighty roar. Its glowing eyes immediately looked upward at the massive amount of energy coming it's way. But it was too late.
The two Hyper Beams met in midair.
Instead of colliding... they merged.
The two attacks fused into one colossal beam of blinding golden energy. Its size nearly doubled and it's brightness rivaled the sun itself.
The combined beam descended directly toward Regigigas.
The Legendary barely had enough time to raise both arms.
Then...
Impact.
The beam struck Regigigas squarely. A pillar of golden light swallowed the entire Legendary.
Everything disappeared.Sound vanished.
light consumed the valley.
Then the explosion came.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A shockwave erupted outward with unimaginable force. Mountains aorunt the valley shattered instantly.
Entire cliffs disappeared beneath the expanding wall of energy.
The abandoned industrial complex simply ceased to exist.
Nothing remained. The ground split apart for hundreds of meters in every direction.
Gigantic cracks tore across the valley floor.
Ancient forests surrounding the battlefield were flattened as though struck by a hurricane. Countless boulders weighing thousands of tons were launched high into the sky before turning into dust.
The sandstorm vanished completely. It had been overwhelmed by something far greater.
The beam continued burning across the valley. The heat melted exposed stone.
Sections of rock glowed red before beginning to liquefy.
The Sinnih officials who were told to retreat and were dozens of kilometers away saw a massive pillar of light piercing the heavens.
The valley that had existed only moments ago no longer resembled a valley.
It had become a vast crater carved into the land by the combined power of two Legendary Pokémon.
