Gladion finally let out a long breath of relief as Regigigas disappeared back into the cavern from which it had emerged.
The ancient Legendary had accepted his words and returned to its long slumber. The immense pressure that had filled the valley slowly faded away until it completely vanished.
Gladion said with a small smile, "We actually did it. I was beginning to think this battle would never end."
Guy wiped the sweat from his forehead before laughing loudly. [Haha! That was incredible! My blood is still boiling! Youth truly shines brightest after overcoming impossible odds!]
He stretched all four of his arms. [I would not mind fighting another Legendary someday.]
Everyone looked at him as if he had gone mad
Colossus gave a deep, satisfied roar.
Gladion chuckled and patted the giant Tyranitar's rocky arm.
"I know, buddy. You carried this battle on your shoulders. I could always count on you."
Colossus proudly puffed out his chest before letting out another triumphant roar.
Ultron looked toward the crater before speaking calmly. [The target has retreated. Threat level has returned to acceptable parameters.]
Gladion laughed at that. "You really know how to celebrate, don't you buddy?"
The other Pokemon chuckled at that. Ultron tilted his head."I fail to understand the joke."
That only made everyone laugh harder
Latias floated down beside Gladion with a warm smile.
"I am glad this ended peacefully. Fighting is exciting, but fighting against a legendary to their last breath would have lasting consequences for even us."
Gladion nodded. "So am I."
Rocky sat down heavily with a tired sigh.
Gladion looked at him and laughed.
"You look like you carried a mountain."
Rhyperior grunted before pointing at Regigigas's enormous footprints.
"Rhyyy..."
Gladion rubbed the back of his head.
"Fair enough. Compared to him, maybe you were the one carrying a pebble."
Gladion looked at every one of his Pokémon before speaking sincerely. "Thank you, everyone once again. You trusted my commands as well as your lives to me without hesitation
"You protected one another. And because of that, every single one of us is walking away from this battle."
He smiled proudly. "I could not ask for a better team."
All of his Pokemon gathered for a Team Hug. Gladion used psychic to use his pokedex to capture their photo.
He thought 'This is going to go on my Pokégram post with the caption being Group Huggies after a legendary battle.'
Several minutes later, Sabrina arrived together with Champion Rowan, Cynthia, and the Sinnoh armed forces.
As they reached the edge of the valley, every single person stopped in their tracks.
No one spoke for several seconds. The entire valley had disappeared. The mountains surrounding it had partially collapsed. Massive cracks stretched across the earth like giant scars.
Forests had been flattened, while enormous boulders lay scattered everywhere. The abandoned industrial complex no longer existed. In its place stood a gigantic crater that looked as though a meteor had struck the earth.
One of the Sinnoh officers slowly lowered his Poké Ball.
"What kind of power could have clashed here?" he asked quietly, unable to hide the disbelief in his voice.
Another veteran officer shook his head slowly.
"I have served in the Sinnoh army for more than thirty years, yet I have never seen destruction on this scale. This is beyond anything I thought possible."
A third official looked toward Gladion from the distance before speaking softly.
"Truly... only the strongest trainer on the continent and their battle with a Legendary could create a battlefield like this."
Another member of the rescue team stared at the enormous crater where Regigigas had disappeared.
"And who would have imagined that Regigigas had been sleeping beneath this place all this time? We have walked these lands for years without realizing that one of the oldest Legendary Pokémon in the world rested beneath our feet."
The realization sent chills through many of the Sinnoh soldiers. If General Alvarez had not triggered this trap, they might never have known the truth.
The team quickly resumed moving.
Cynthia reached Gladion first.
Without caring about the others watching, she hurried directly toward him.
"Are you okay?" she asked immediately.
Her calm composure had disappeared completely. She carefully looked him over from head to toe, checking his arms, shoulders, and face for injuries. There was dirt covering his clothes, small cuts on his hands, and burn marks from the incredible heat of the Hyper Beam explosion.
"You fought Regigigas," Cynthia said with obvious concern. "You could have been seriously injured."
Before Gladion could answer, Sabrina arrived beside them.
She folded her arms tightly.
"That was incredibly reckless."
Although her voice remained calm as always, Gladion could easily hear the worry hidden beneath it.
"You knowingly walked into what you believed was a trap. Then you decided to fight one of the strongest Legendary Pokémon in existence instead of retreating."
Sabrina sighed softly. "I expected you to do something dangerous."
She looked directly into his eyes.
"I did not expect something this dangerous."
Gladion smiled awkwardly. "I had everything under control."
Both women looked at him at exactly the same time. Neither of them believed that statement.
Cynthia continued checking his injuries.
She gently grabbed one of his wrists before looking at the burn marks left by the intense heat.
"You call this having everything under control?" she asked.
"There are burns on your arm."
"They are only small burns," Gladion replied.
Cynthia ignored him. She continued inspecting him carefully.
Sabrina quietly watched the scene. Her expression remained perfectly calm.
Only her eyes betrayed her thoughts. She slowly turned her head toward Cynthia.
Then...
She gave the Sinnoh Champion a long, expressionless stare.
Cynthia immediately noticed it.
She looked back at Sabrina.
The two women remained completely silent.
Neither said a single word.
Gladion looked back and forth between them with a confused expression.
'Why are they looking at each other like that?'
Neither woman explained.
After several awkward seconds, Sabrina simply looked away.
She decided that arguing could wait until after Gladion had recovered from fighting a Legendary Pokémon.
One of the nearby officers quietly whispered to another.
"I think Champion Canditate Cynthia just survived a battle more dangerous than Regigigas."
The second officer immediately covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing.
Champion Rowan finally reached them. Unlike the others, the elderly Champion was breathing heavily after hurrying across the destroyed valley.
He placed both hands on his knees for a moment before finally straightening his back.
He looked at Gladion and slowly shook his head. "You truly enjoy making old men worry, do you not?"
Gladion rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish smile.
"I am fine."
He looked toward the enormous crater behind him. "Regigigas decided it had enough."
Champion Rowan followed his gaze. His expression became thoughtful. "So it returned to its sleep willingly?"
Gladion nodded. "We talked."
The old Champion stared at him for several seconds. Then he sighed deeply.
After a few moments, Gladion's expression became serious once again.
"Champion Rowan."
The old Champion turned toward him.
"Yes?"
Gladion pointed toward the enormous crater leading into Regigigas's resting place. "Seal this entire area."
Rowan nodded slowly. "I was already thinking the same thing."
Gladion continued.
"No one should be allowed to disturb Regigigas again. Build security posts around the area if necessary. Mark it as a protected zone. If another group like Alvarez's ever learns about this place, your region could face another disaster."
Champion Rowan agreed immediately.
"It will be done."
